- Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in the '90s hit shows "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" has died, her publicist told People. She was 53.

My mom died of cancer at 55, my sister of cancer at 56, my mom's nephew at 55, my aunt at 60, my other cousin at 56, and my baby sister died at 50. While we tend to live longer these days, we're also dying younger. Treasure each day.

Sounds like there may be a genetic link in your family, maybe consider getting tested. I have a cancer gene, in treatment for my fourth type of cancer. Got tested after my second, so I’m followed more closely and my cancers have been caught in earlier stages.
There must be genetic component in your family. How can so many get it and around the exact same age. That's unbelievable after thinking about it for a few minutes.

Wow! My heart goes out to her and her family. After just now hearing her story, it was an exact replay of my late wife, Rebecca. It started with both breasts, went away, and came back 3 years later with a vengeance, and then the cancer attacked the brain. She battle cancer for 11 years. ❤

She was also iconic in Mallrats & Heathers. Yes she was underutilized as an actress and didn’t get roles she deserved but that doesn’t make her a bad actress.
She really was a Class Act. She faced her battle like a Princess. RIP SHANNEN!!!

I am now in stage 4 ovarian cancer. I go back into treatment at the end of the week for my 3rd recurrence It’s really hard to hold back the tears this morning. She gave other cancer patients so much hope with her bravery. This brave lady gave me some hope! Rest in peace, Shannen! Thank you for sharing your journey! I am so happy that you reached a special place where Cancer can no longer taint your sweet little soul. 🩱🎗️

R.I.P. Shannen. Way too young. 53 is still young. She was apart of my generation, even though I'm 5 years younger than she was. At least she gave up most of her worldly things, and decided to get closer to her mother. She knew her time was short. People shouldnt wait till they know death is knocking at their door. Tomorrow is never promised.

Today's kids have no idea just how iconic BH 90210 was to my generation. It was the "IT" show. I watched BH because of Shannen Doherty and stopped watching when she left the show. That was the impact Shannen had on me. She was a brilliant actor. She drew you into her character. Time is so cruel. Rest Easy, Shannen~! Thank you for our memories of the good old days.

How ironic that it started with breast cancer and there was an episode of 90210 where she had to have a biopsy done on a lump in her breast. She was scared so her mom went with her and eventually the biopsy came back clear with no cancer present. It was done as a way to get women and teens to do self breast exams and get their mammograms done every year. Just another one of those weird and bizarre coincidences in films and tv that foreshadows the future.

A devastating and huge loss for the entertainment industry and the fans. So much passion and talent … I grew up watching Charmed … one of the greatest memories of my childhood. She wanted so badly to live … to continue to be such an inspiration not only for her family but for her fans. What an amazing woman to have fought for so long with such grace. RIP Dear Shannen … thank you for the memories. We love you and you will be missed by so many.

A family friend had cancer stage 4 almost 5 years ago now, and she is now 81 and cancer free. They have her on record as basically a medical anomaly but really she's a miracle. She was on something called keytruda but i might be spelling it wrong idk. It is meant to help your own immune system fight the cancer. She really should not even be alive rn. My own son is currently going through chemo and he is only 14 years old. He will definitely recover but the mistakes from drs before the x-ray that showed the mass in his chest, really dropped the ball! I am so thankful to his medical team at Roswell. They are amazing!! He too is on a medicine that helps his own immune system fight it. There really are phenomenal advancements in oncology now. I am so sorry we lost Shannen to such a true monster. She was a real fighter and will be missed

I took this hard. Bawled my eyes out 😭. I grew up watching her. I was born in 1985 so I was very young when Beverly Hills 90210 was on the scene. I got to watch some bits of it here and there. Such an ICONIC figure of my childhood.
She was brave, courageous, kind, loving, caring, strong, independent, smart, beautiful inside and out. Very outspoken and true to who she was. Stood her ground, fighting til the very end. I'm always gonna remember her smile and how fierce she was.

My condolences to her and her family... I went to a cancer treatment center with my friend. But what I really learned was how many people at that clinic, from dawn till dusk, it was a revolving door of patient's. It was painful to witness this reality. 😢

I lost my Dad to Cancer back in 2004. What a horrible sickness. I wouldn't want to wish it on anybody. I am sorry Ms. Doherty you had to endure this for so long. Your battle and suffering are over now and may you rest in peace. I wish your family the time of peace and love during their mourning. The world lost a brave woman who was a true warrior.
I didn’t even know the cancer came back. I thought she was still in remission. Now two of the main characters gone from 90210 way too damn young. That show was such a huge part of my life, particularly the wretched middle school years. It certainly helped me get through a time that really sucked.
Something I noticed several years ago after she was diagnosed…rewatching Brenda’s breast cancer scare episode from the first season was really weird. Who would’ve thought.

as someone who grew up in my mid teens in the 90's i always watched her on 90210 and in CHARMED, the wise oldest sister of the 3, its such a tragedy, but she was strong till the end, she never gave up like a Pit Bull, she was and still is my favourite TV actress, i always thought she was special, RIP

That was Shannen's best role and series. Then she did a great job as the eldest sister/witch on "Charmed." Wasn't interested in BH 90210. Characters were fake and superficial. Didn't watch and care for that series. But, anyway, Shannen fought a very courageous battle against cancer. She exemplified hope, determination, and bravery for many others with the same illness. Shannen Doherty will be missed greatly!
