When I was a teenager and read Battle Angel Alita/GUNNM for the first time, I was so fascinated by the world, characters and dark atmosphere, that I wanted to draw a manga too... and after 20 years later, this dream come true. Jovantore does only exist because Battle Angel Alita made such a huge impact on my drawing journey 👨🎨🖤

The reason for the 2 different endings for the original series is that the mangaka, Yukito Kishiro, got sick and had to end the series. That's why the non-canon ending feels a bit rushed.
When he recovered he was unhappy with the ending so he started Last Order to create the ending he always wanted
I thought it was something with the publishing but that makes sense too. Can't wait to read last order.
Very nice review and I agree with your explanations. There is something very special about the original series that even Last Order and Mars Chronicle doesn't cover as well. That is the study of the individual called Alita. The other series are more epic but there is something so personal about the original story that you really enjoy the actual interaction you have as a reader to her character. Despite all the science fiction and action, it is that character interaction that I really like about the story.

After seeing the movie for the first time, I started the individual volumes of the manga. Now I'm reading the omnibuses of Last Order. I'm curious what the differences are between the regular volumes and the Deluxe Editions. In the ones I have, they call the cities Jeru and Zalem. But in the Last Order, they use Tiphares and Zetheres.
From just general info I think there was some translation fuckary with the deluxe versions. (but I'm pretty sure I was reading those and everything was fine)

alita is 20 out of 10 but last order felt weird. It was out of place and didn't rly give me what I wanted. The artstyle is too smooth and not sketchy enough like it was in the first alita series. The only part I liked is the vampire arc where it shows the origin of that vampire girl. I also liked the other storys that yukito kishiro made that were at the end of the omnibusses. I think id rather think of the other endings as the real ending then think of last order as an ending. but still 20 out of 10 for the original story

It did, and it sucked. It's honestly sad that ppl are gonna remember the franchise with "that one movie with the big eyes". Especially considering how good the manga is.

It was made with a lot of love and respect for the manga, you can feel that.
Sure it's no unique masterpiece like the manga, but that doesn't make it bad. It's actually exceptionally good considering it's a Hollywood movie and their history of terrible adaptations.
the movie is an adaption of both the manga and the OVA from the 90s, merging the first two arcs, so of course there are going to be a bunch of changes. It's also a very different medium, which needs tweaking of the story. Nevertheless, a lot of the movie comes straight out of the manga, it even incorporated stuff from the canon side stories such as "Super Sonic Finger" (which takes place between volumes 4 and 5, original volume, not Deluxe volume)
@@IsilionNELE I only remember that once it came out I watched it, w friends, we made fun of it a bit while watching n that's it. I read the manga just a few days ago n can't really compare them. But from what I saw on reddit the community likes it so hey maybe it's not as bad as I remember.
@@bakaboysclub Eh I don't think it sucked I mean it got me to read the manga. My main problem with the movie is that it should've just focused on the first two volumes cuz motorball just got in the way of Yugos development but other than that I think it's a fun time!
