There's a cut of this on UA-cam (I think on Weird Al's official channel) with the first take of Donny's dancing without any breaks for the other videos.
The Atlantic records diss was because he wanted to do a parody of the song you're beautiful by James Blunt and even had his blessing... but the label explicitly refused. Had to look it up myself.
James Blunt granted Al permission to do a parody of "You're Beautiful." Blunt's label (Atlantic Records) overrode him and told Al he couldn't. To Atlantic's credit, their denial was the reason that he had to write a new single for this album... and that single became "White & Nerdy."

There have been a bunch of rappers who have said that Al's ability to change flows and cadences is legit. He is honestly one of the smartest and most talented people in the music industry. Don't forget that the "new guy" in Al's band joined in the early 90's. How many skilled bands can you name that have been together unchanged for 30+ years?
Weird Al is one of the greatest artists ever, he can do any genre and do it great , there’s a reason why there’s the saying that you haven’t made it until Weird Al does a parody of you
I have been saying for literally [not figuratively] twenty years that Weird Al has cornered a market of which there is unlimited material. He can work until he decides he wants to retire.
And some artists actually asked him or gave him suggestions, in the case of Madonna. The only one that refused was Prince, and Al just didn't do any parodies of his songs.

You need to check out his parody of "American Pie", it's called "The Saga Begins". Don McLean has actually admitted to almost singing "Weird" Al's version live on a few occasions.

I'm crying laughing and I haven't even finished my coffee yet. This is amazing, D, thank you! And heck yeah, Weird Al is an absolute genius. If you ever react to any more of his stuff I am so here for it. You might like "It's All About the Pentiums" (from "All About the Benjamins") or Amish Paradise (from "Gangster's Paradise").
The Atlantic Records joke is because at one point he had gotten permission from James Blunt to parody the song You're Beautiful, and he finished his version "You're Pitiful" only to have Atlantic come behind and say NO. Their lawyers weren't very good though and only told him he couldn't make money from it, so he released it on the internet for free anyway instead of on an album since the artist had given permission.
Atlantic Records flat out refused Al to do a parody of James Blunts "you're beautiful" as "you're pitiful" although Blunt was very open to letting him do it.
You need to play Weird Al Yankovic's cover of "Eat It" (Michael Jackson) or "Aluminum Foil" (Royals by Lourdes). It will have you on the floor. Thanks D for this video and I agree that he is a genius.
Weird Al will always be the G.O.A.T. of parodies. And he's still going strong today. I recommend Amish Paradise, Party in the CIA, Tacky, Smells Like Nirvana, Fat, etc... Its such an amazing rabbit hole to dive down into. xD

I've seen a lot of people react to White & Nerdy and you're the FIRST PERSON to recognize Donny Osmond. FINALLY! I was around in the days before MTV was on air, too. I loved your reaction, man. Thank you for this!
I've watched a number of reaction videos to this song and you're the first one to notice Donny Osmond. You have to be whiter than sour cream (had to steal that) and a product of the 70s and 80s to pick up on that!
How many Weird Al videos? There are tons of them out there. He's been doing this since the late 70's/early 80's. He's well known for his parodies of big hits, but he also does style parodies, lots of original works, and polka's where he takes a couple of lines each from many different popular songs of the time when he releases an album. It's always good to watch/listen to the original prior to watching Weird Al's parodies because many of them are parodies of the video as well. A few of my favorites are: Living with a Hernia - James Brown's Living in America Like a Surgeon - Madonna's Like a Virgin Yoda - The Kink's Lola The Saga Begins - Don Mclean's American Pie Ode to a Superhero - Billy Joel's Piano Man Just a few to get you started.
I'm so glad that you recognized Donny Osmond in this. You're one of the few and I think he was PERFECT!!! Oh, and the Star Wars video was the Holiday Special that even the most die hard Star Wars fans want to forget - so his excitement at getting it shows how much of a nerd he is. Although, my even knowing that shows how much of a nerd I am.
One of his songs that doesn't get nearly enough love is Ode To A Superhero... A gentle melody that makes love to it's source material both lyrically and melodically
Great reaction! You noticed so many more details than any other reactor I've seen! Weird Al is a literal genius - he has genius-level IQ. Also, you should search UA-cam for Donny's complete dance. It's hilarious!

A couple of things. Jordan Peele locking the door of a convertible when the top is down. The guy in the scene with the action figures is Seth Green, co-creator, co-producer, writer, and director of Robot Chicken. I love that you recognized Donny Osmond. By the way, the correct answer is Picard. Some of his other great songs include Amish Paradise, Smells Like Nirvana, Word Crimes, Fat, and The Saga Begins. He also has a movie called UHF that is a pretty good romp.
Coincidentally my cousin just now sent me a link to one of Al's great songs, called Germs. (a parody of a Nine Inch Nails song) Gosh it was so long ago I had forgotten it, but now I 😂 so much watching it that I added it to my favorites. He goes all out on stage & if you weren't laughing at the lyrics so hard you'd think you were at a rock concert. He's not just clever with the lyrics, he pulls off the attitude, hair, fashion, etc. In the late 80s thru the 90s if Al made a parody of one your songs then you were definitely a big deal!
Weird Al songs you might like: Eat it Fat Living with a hernia Like a Surgeon Smells like Nirvana All about the Pentiums Bedrock Anthem Headline News Amish Paradise Bob Hardware Store My baby’s in love with Eddy Vedder Tacky Pretty Fly for a Rabbi Also check out ERB Isaac Newton versus Bill Nye
Weird Al has been making parodies, and original music for forty-six years. He started on The Dr. Demento Show in 1976. He has over 150 songs and parodies that are all as good or better than this one. He has at least ten gold and platinum albums, and over half a dozen Grammies. He is still preforming today. I have been to two of his live concerts. If you like classic rock and pop, check out "Like a Sergion", Madonna "Like a Virgin". Modonna asked Weird Al to do one of her songs. Also a couple of must see videos are "Eat It", and "Fat", Michael Jackson's "Beat It", and "Bad". In an interview I saw on the Opra Winfry show, Michael Jackson was asked what his favorite music video was. He said it was "Eat It" by Weird Al Yankovic.
3:41 - Don't know if you caught this, but that's actor Seth Green in the background. Not only is he known as an actor, but also as an avid action figure collector, which he puts to use in the Adult Swim show he co-created, Robot Chicken (which, full circle, helped create another Weird Al music video). 3:48 - Some nice math trivia I recently learned: the 359th place of Pi is the number 360, which is the number of decrees in a circle, while Pi is the ratio of a circle's diameter to it's circumference. 5:12 - He's doin...his own choreography that he came up with in the hall while he was getting ready for the shoot. 5:58 - It's a long story, but the short hand is that Atlantic Records jerked him around a bit when he wanted to parody James Blunt's song 'Your Beautiful.' They wouldn't let him publish the song, so now he just performs it in concert. 8:23 - Casual or modern Star Wars fans can't understand the real significance here. In 1978, Lucas wanted to cash in on the unprecedented success of Star Wars while the cast was gearing up to shoot The Empire Strikes Back, so he did what every producer did in those days: make a Christmas special. The special ended up being so monumentally HORRIBLE that Lucas actively sought out and destroyed every official copy of the special. When he was through, it only existed as bad memories and worn home-recorded VHS copies. As the Star Wars fandom grew, it became a mark of status to have seen the special, and an even greater treasure to actually own a copy. Now of course eventually the special made it to UA-cam and now you can watch that train wreck whenever you want, but like I said, back in the day it was a real status symbol among the Star Wars fans. Okay, so, brief biography of Weird Al. He started writing funny songs as a teen. In '78 or '79 his Knacks parody 'My Bologna' became a hit on the Dr. Demento radio show and the Knacks lead singer got Al in touch with a record company who offered him a contract. He was niche for a while until his Michael Jackson parodies 'Eat It' and 'Fat' thrust him into the public eye. He had a slump in the late 80s, but recovered when 'Smells Like Nirvana' became a hit. Kurt Cobain said that it was when Weird Al asked to parody them that they knew they were a success. Since then he's released an album about every five years, with many great hits like 'Amish Paradise,' 'White and Nerdy,' 'Perform This Way,' and originals like 'Hardware Store.' His career has outlasted most of the groups he's parodied. He released his last studio album, Mandatory Fun, in 2014, and it was the first comedy album in 50 years to hit #1 on the Billboard Top 100. In 2018 he got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and 2022 saw the release of 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,' a mochudrama of Al's life staring Daniel Radcliff as Al. Since the release of his last album, Al has been touring, with The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour ending back in March.
Thanks for this! Fun as sh*t! Knew his songs, but Weird Al's videos are new to me too, just this past year. And I'm 61! Man is brilliant. And I'm with you...Donny Osmond is downright hysterical in this. I read he flew out for the day to do this video with Al just to have some fun. Great sport!
Also very popular and funny: Eat it (Beat it), Fat (Bad) both Michael Jackson covers (who loved them btw), Amish Paradise (Gangster´s Paradise), Smells like Nirvana (Smells like teen spirit/Nirvana), Like a surgeon (Like a virgin) Madonna, Trapped in the drive through (Trapped in the closet) R.Kelly, Word Crimes (Blurred Lines) Robin Thicke ft Pharrell Williams and many more 😁🤣
Welcome to the worlds of Weird Al!!! You Have to see more - its better to see the original first or at the same time as he often does not just match his lyrics to the song but the video clip as well Amazingly talented, he would often ask the original artist first but as his fame grew artist were asking him as an artist knew they had made it if Weird Al parodied their song! "Amish Paradise" - Gangsters Paradise "Tacky" - Happy "Word Crimes" - Blurred Lines - Very Educational!!! "Eat it" - Beat it "Fat" - Bad "Foil" - Royals "Smells like Nirvana" - Smells like Teen Spirit "The Saga Begins" - American Pie - Good for Starwars fans And So Many more "Like a Surgeon", "Yoda", "EBAY", "Bob"
Finally!! Someone who knows Donny Osmond!! Thank you. Great reaction.

" By the way, the correct answer is Picard."
Facts.
You heard about Weird Al decades ago, but he's been making songs the whole time. He's still making songs. Please do more.
You have to do the Nirvana one now!!! It's hilarious!
Weird Al is the GOAT ... you can't go wrong with his work! There is a lot for you to discover! Have fun!!! :)
Play “Like a Surgeon” hilarious

"Amish Paradise" - Gangsters Paradise
"Tacky" - Happy
"Word Crimes" - Blurred Lines - Very Educational!!!
"Eat it" - Beat it
"Fat" - Bad
"Foil" - Royals
"Smells like Nirvana" - Smells like Teen Spirit
"The Saga Begins" - American Pie - Good for Starwars fans
And So Many more "Like a Surgeon", "Yoda", "EBAY", "Bob"
