    That was very cool, I knew about this feature, but hadn’t tried it. Definitely looking forward to patching video, another thing I haven’t yet tried.

    Great job, Sir. Such a pleasure to stumble onto a True Teacher! There are those of us who can gain so much, watching you MAKE THE CONNECTIONS....all the really good camera perspectives and the rest of it (he says, as he CLICKS "SUBSCRIBE" and NOTIFY ME OF ALL). Thank you for the excellent instruction; I'm sure you're learning, as well. I'm a point of purchase of a Model D and, after this video, see it as inevitable.

      Yea, don't read the manual, come here instead! Ha ha, actually the manual is very well written, but I've learned loads from others on YT, so just doing my bit to contribute to the knowledge base...

    Very nice! The double synth part was stellar! I was so waiting fpr you to patch the LFO out to the CUT CV though :) Gonna try it with my Model D which I got recently. Btw, if you didn't mention it already: if the Ext In has nothing inserted, the mains out are patched to it by default, to fatten things up a bit (or distor them).

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  2 роки тому

      yes, I remember reading that somewhere - Ext In internally connected, I think it based on an old hack where the headphone output could be sent back into the external in or something like that... I'm sure someone with better knowledge will correct me. Thanks!

    Loving all these Model D vids. I have one comment though, can you please make your voice a little bit louder in the mix?
    Or maybe it’s fine and I am just used to those young YT kids shouting at me all the time 😂

      very cool indeed. The filter would work very well as a 'DJ'-type filter-sweep effect!

      Got that one since I live in a Van (and wanted to keep my Hammond Organ/Leslie setup I had to part with my Nord NE-2, So I got the Yamaha Reface CP already.
      I have a "Rack" that has a Behringer Model D, a Roland VP-03 (String/Choir/Vocoder unit), an Emu MIDI Piano Module (archaic, but I like it's flexibility-octave transpose and MIDI Channel on the front panel-which I wish all MIDI modules had this all knobs on front panel).
      Also a Yamaha QY-70 (general MIDI) that travels in the case, plus a 3 in, 8 out MIDI merge box and a Basic Mixer.

    Hadn't occurred to me to use the filter and loudness envelopes on the Model D to process external audio, and mix with internal audio. It's like getting a free effects pedal and a new mix bus.

    hello buddy., hey i have a question .i have it hooked up with mpc running it fine but there's no midi out and i cant automate and write in the mpc . so i heard i need midi out from model d but there's none,. any ideas,/?

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  2 роки тому

      yea, the second midi dim connector is MIDI THRU (rather than MIDI OUT), so will pass data from MIDI IN. To quote the manual "this 5-pin DIN jack is used to pass through MIDI data received at the MIDI INPUT. This will commonly be sent to another MODEL D synthesizer to run a Poly Chain or to a drum machine assigned to a different MIDI Channel.". So, the MIDI implementation is geared towards poly-chaining. As far as I know, the various controls on the D don't send midi cc (like say a controller does). I think you could send midi out from a DAW and that midi data would get to the MPC via the model D via MIDI THRU.

    Is it possible to process an audio signal from a keyboard with 1/4 audio out? (Kingkorg out to model d audio in)?

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  Рік тому

      I don't see why not. That patch point is expecting an audio signal, I'm curious to know how it will handle a stereo vs a mono signal though - something to try! Also, I imagine the Kingkorg puts out a line-level signal - so should be plenty hot enough, but test at a low volume first - the filter on the Model D can be brutal (in a good way).

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  7 місяців тому

      I'm not sure, the Kobol is hard to get hold of in the UK, most retailers are estimating March 2024 for stock. Once it's available here, I want to test this synth...

    Hello. Do you have to maintain the key pressed to get the gate open?

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  2 роки тому

      yes, the gate has to be 'opened', so it's not quite like a 'eurorack' filter, but there are ways of achieving this using arps and smart use of the amp envelope. This is my understanding.

    • @fusionistaaaa
      @fusionistaaaa 2 роки тому

      @@abominablemusic mais c'est abominable :) I guess it has do with circuitry. I had a go with the Cat which has the same functionality. You can do a funny stutter effect with ext audio in and with ADSR into Gate on the patch bay. The cat has an ADSR repeat option

    Moog Mother 32 has a VCA toggle so gate is either open or trigger. Does Model D have that?
    The advantage of Mother 32 is it's sequencer also gates ext in along with attack/ decay. But the Mother 32 ext in needs Eurorack level, ie. high level, is the Model D ok with line level?

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  3 роки тому

      The audio in seems pretty easy to overload (maybe that's why they added the 'overload' led) so I guess it's expecting line level, and maybe instrument level). Yea, no sequencer on the D. I did a vid on using the TD-3 as a sequencer and those patterns on the D sound monster! After owning the D for a few months, think I'd like to have a mother 32! I hear this can't be beat for pure analogue goodness.

    your voice is always way too low compared to the synths in the video. I have to turn it down to not have the synths wake up the neighbours, and then I can't hear your talk.
