  • Here is a quick tutorial on how to use the Digital Tension Gauge for your Bottom Thread for Machine Embroidery.
Checking your bobbin tension and top thread tension each time your machine is set up for a new project should be a “given.” Just like changing needles often and maintaining regular machine maintenance! This tension gauge is available in two models depending on which bobbin style you use, L Style bobbins or M Style bobbins, and can be used to check top and bottom tension with a single tool.

Thank you for posting this and the where the tension settings should be. One question. Is it normal to have to check every single bobbin when you change them out? Every time when I check them when I change, tension is different plus or minus 5 gf. I am using Madeira Item# 308-503.

Hello Sam, great question! It is good practice to check your bobbins when changing them out, but if your machine is running well it is not always necessary. Regularly cleaning out your bobbin case with compressed air to get out any dust or lint is also important for uniform bobbin tension.
