    Another thing: I say this without any bias: yours is the best cantonese learning channel in UA-cam. I really mean it, no one teaches as much as you and I've felt I learned more with you than any other place. Even books are not so good tbh.

    great way of teaching chunks of cant knees. however i have to stop because the music drowns out the dialogue. Is there anyway of supressing the background noise?. keep up the great work. Update...I am using your videos but redubbing with local speaking in order to ditch the background tracks

    I was wrong not to learn Cantonese from a girlfriend (who was in love with me) in Cholon ( ward 5th and 6th) - Saigon in the years 1970s. It's too late to start learning, but I tried to get some words to go with me to the other side of the world just in case I will meet her again!

      yes of course. Simplified or traditional characters are just forms. like writing“color” or "colour" in English. They are the same meaning.

    On a little side note: in the Cantonese dialect spoken in HK, they never say 聞起身 (but rather 聞起嚟)

      You are right~ 闻起嚟 is more common in some formal occasion while 闻起身 is more down to earth

    Your videos are very useful however i have a question. I’ve seen 廣東話 pronounced as gwong2 dung1 waa6 but i’ve also seen people say gwong2 dung1 waa2 so what is the difference?

      'thanks for your watching. Actually it should be pronounced gwong dung waa2. 话 has two pronunciations. when it means dialects or languages, it pronounces waa2 and when it means speak, say or tell, it pronounces waa6, for example, mom says..... aa3 maa1 waa2

    what do the numbers at the end of the word mean? for example, "zung1 ji3" what are the numbers for?

      there are the jyutping tones. There are 5 tones of Jyutping. 😊

    Idk if I used the right participle. I'm relatively new to cantonese. I've been watching Cantonese dubs of animes to get used to the speed and sort of rhythm to Cantonese. Also been watching hambaanglaang for it's story books. I've noticed how people turn "mat1 je5" to "me1", "dim2 gaai2" and "dim2 joeng2" to "dim2", "bin1 go3" and "bin1 dou6" to "bin1". I've been wondering why and if there are times you use "mat1 je5" and so on instead of the shortened form.

      si 是 is a written form and means to be too. but it is only seen in poetry or books

    I live in Hong kong for 5 years and i don believe one day i will able to speak cantonese. I did all my best to learn but damnnn trust me its not easy, very hard language 😩🤦🏾‍♂️
