    This laptop is perfect for my needs. Been using this since August. My only qualm was that I thought I was getting a RGB version but I ended up getting a white backlight, which ain't bad, but would have loved the RGB keyboard version. Maybe I can just replace the keyboard at some point of time in the future. Let's see. Battery could have been better. Without any settings change I get around 3 to 3.5 hours. With some changes like turning off backlight, reducing screen brightness to 20 percent, turning on the battery saver, reducing the refresh rate to 60 hertz, selecting silent mode and using only integrated GPU, some youtubers claim you can get close to 10 hours of battery life for just productivity tasks, but as far as I tried, I could get over 6 hours. I wish the battery life would actually come to around 10 hours and this laptop would have been perfect in every way.

    I think the legion series Just looks amazing, Even for a gaming laptop, I've never seen a laptop well designed than this. The way the body is a bit extended on the behind looks amazing giving some life to the design of the laptop unlike other laptops which have a bulky rear profile with huge fan surrounds.

      @@123Sulaymaan going down to 1600p makes negligible visual difference, any lower and you will see the graphics quality drop. But i have a 1440p monitor, so that solves the issue. Otherwise, when you are on the move, the 3.2k panel is perfect for content consumption at 4k. The videos are so crisp and vibrant, can't be compared to a 2k panel. The panel strikes a perfect balance between quality and performance.

      @@123Sulaymaan You can play at 3.2K resolution but you won't get the best experience. Lower the resolution to 1440P and you get a good mix of performance and visuals. I play cyberpunk on 2K and the game looks great. Now I do not like playing on my 1080P monitor as much as I did.

      @@126sangeet I still don't get it why would u prefer more fps over picture clarity and definition. I get 55 to 70 fps on high settings 3.2k display on most AAA titles and it looks mesmerizing alluring so much better than if I could get say 100 fps on 2k display. I know smoothness is nice but picture clarity is so much more beautiful. like when people can be normal about gaming on ps4 on 30fps so why not 60fps suffices. I don't get it. upgrade from 30 to 60 fps can be noticeable. but after that it is so negligible to the naked eye. prefer picture clarity more sorry. It's like when I first upgraded my HD 1366*768 resolution laptop to a 1920*720 resolution FULL HD laptop, it was so beautiful the screen

    While my Slim 7i is great a word of warning. If you need to have it serviced Lenovo makes you jump through hoops in order to get it fixed and even if you have the premium warranty, they will refuse to send a tech to your home until you do other things that in my case, I was told the tech on the phone shouldn't have told me to do. This is the reason I'm selling it and going to another company.

    Looking to upgrade soon, I actually purchased the slim 7 amd version, But I knew little about laptops then. I have the Rx6600s in this. While this machine is capable. I have noticed the 4gb of vram I get in this card can sometimes hold me back. I think soon after this semester is over in school. I'm going to sell this and upgrade to the 7i for sure. I love the chassis and all. I just want that extra horsepower.

    One thing I still don’t quite understand, is how can those surface temps be considered “normal”. If these are supposed to be cooler compared to other gaming laptops, then I’d hate to see other gaming laptops. My wife has this model and I have the AMD variant, and if both of us are using them for an hour, I swear it heats up the entire room by a few degrees. And after a gaming session, it’s hot enough near the power button that you can’t leave your fingers on it without hurting yourself. It’s approaching egg frying territory. How’s this not dangerous?
    Don’t get me wrong, I love this model and I get that comparatively the temps are an improvement over similarly spec’d thin gaming laptops. I’m just confused about the general consensus on what’s considered acceptable. This feels like new territory, and I feel like we probably shouldn’t be pushing the limits on this.

    • @SoulOfTech
      @SoulOfTech  8 місяців тому

      Hey there, great question. A few questions:
      1. Are you ensuring you are using this on a flat surface?
      2. Do the side vents have sufficient clearance?
      3. Are there are heavy background programs running while gaming? (ie Anti virus)
      Assuming all of these are covered your laptop should not get so hot that it hurts your fingers. None the less the laptop getting hot during intense sessions is normal due to the slim body. For a slightly cooler experience you may want to consider the larger non slim variants which have more cooling space.

    • @shanksworthy
      @shanksworthy 8 місяців тому +1

      @@SoulOfTechNot on a flat surface, but elevated for more airflow, and vents completely unblocked. Both of us are playing BG3 at Ultra settings (not an unreasonable ask for a 4060-enabled laptop). It would be an unlikely coincidence for both to have the same defect, but I suppose it’s possible.
      That said, I do have a Llano cooling pad which is capable of keeping it completely cool. I just choose not to use it sometimes (it can be loud), and my comment was really more around what we tolerate in the industry now. I’d hope it would shut itself down before getting truly red hot, but I think our tolerances are slipping.

      @@shanksworthy Bro I am getting the same surface temperatures too like on the speakers. When I called lenovo they said its completely normal. what i cant imagine is you cannot use it on your lap without it heating like other laptops. well ofcourse you are not supposed to use it but then what if you cant carry ur bulky cooling pad around and just wanna use it on your lap in travels and its this hot, phew. I suggest use it on performance mode and cooling pad if youre gaming, if not just use it on quiet mode and turn the brightness down to like 70 or 50% then the heat is lower. plus also you might have observed on vantage it shows the battery to be 41 or 42 C sometimes when its really hot which the support said is normal as well

    So 100% sRGB is NOT great...that's only about 75% of the DCI-P3 color gamut that is needed for media creation/photo editing. Disappointing.

    • @SoulOfTech
      @SoulOfTech  8 місяців тому

      Hey, in the grand spectrum you are correct. However keep in mind this is not a creative laptop, its designed for gaming and in that capacity it focuses on lower response rates and higher refresh rates so color range is not the top priority. 100% sRGB is enough for most rookie level creative activities and content viewing.

    • @dalehuhtala9285
      @dalehuhtala9285 8 місяців тому

      @@SoulOfTech Yes, but this is not an entry level machine. Many creators do use gaming laptops for the power they need to render videos. Their competition, such as Asus Strix and Zephyrus, all support 100% DCI-P3 so I think Lenovo needs to address this.

      They have to differentiate between the Legion Slim 7 and Legion 7 while working around different target budgets so they don’t offer the Ethernet port on the former. Ethernet dongles are available for that specific use case. Or one can step down to the Slim 5 and sacrifice some other features and build quality.
