    Installed my first ever guitar speaker today. Swapped out the vox super mini beetle stock speaker for a cream back. Omg. Sounds much fuller and bigger. Thanks for the advice. Got it from sweetwater too!

      Did in improve that top chime? I’m thinking about doing it, but not sure the best speaker for chime, right now leaning towards a Jensen 50 watt speaker. Don’t love the amp with the V Type speaker. Thanks!

    I just got my mini super beetle and it sounds great as is. I also happen to have an older Carvin MB15E bass extension cabinet and decided to plug it and test it solo with the Vox’s amp head and then along with the super beetle cabinet. Happy to report the Beetle’s amp head has no problem pushing the 15” bass speaker solo or in tandem with it’s 10” cabinet speaker and that the 15” Carvin adds a great low end depth along with the little 10” and it sounds really GOOD.

      It’s basically a VOX MV50 AC, with reverb and tremolo. So they kinda already do sell just the head. I gig with an MV50 AC. It takes pedals great, so I just use that to get reverb, overdrive, trem and delay. Killer little amps! So much easier than luggin my AC30 to gigs, and sounds nearly the same!

    Need a 2x12 cab with a pair of 8ohm speakers wired in parallel to make it 4ohm. Turn the switch on the head to 50w and go.
    Doing this was what made me decide to never part with this little amp.
    It is a little monster with fantastic dynamics.

    Great video Lando! I need to get this Mini Vox amp. I liked all the guitars and I liked the blue Strat the best! The bigger cabs sound great! Thanks for your honest demos and videos. I have 3 of the 15w Pathfinder amps. I bought them new during the years they were in production. Two have reverb and the first one I purchased did not. Glad I kept them. I also have the 10w Bass Pathfinder. YOU ARE GREAT! .....Remember that!!!!

    From Leo: Good Demo. Those speakers really improved that VOX. It is surprising the volume output you ended up getting. If they are not included, I add speaker jacks to even small combo amps. My current favorite cab is an over sized 2 X 12 with Eminence Cannabis Rex speakers. They just make everything sound better, from little 1 watt and 5 watt valve amps up to 100 watt heads. Like you, I am really pleased how much improvement a nice cabinet can make. Even the cheesy little Marshall MG 15dfx sounds better.

    It's a great little amp IMO. I found a guy that had bought two because he wanted two matching 'Vox' cabs (so as to get 50 watts) and I bought the head ONLY from him. I have multiple cabs and have run the amp through 2X12's, 2 ea. 2X12's (50 watts), 1X12 and 2ea. 1X12's ( 50 watts). All sound great and plenty of volume for me to gig with. I also have the MV50 AC which I also like, but I do prefer the mini Beetle head. Yes, as others have said, they should sell the head only in addition to the package.

    Well, that was totally work hitting the sub button and the bell. I have this amp as well and I use an old 12" 8-ohm alnico speaker from a 1970s pa cab and it sounds great. Hey Landon, please can I ask which type of cable you used to connect the head to the speakers? I just got one of these second hand and the seller forgot to send the speaker cable (supposedly sending it on). Tried using a guitar jack to jack cable but something just isn't sounding right.

    Hey Landon, I bought one of these super beetles the other day (with the Union Jack design so as not to offend my Queen!). With volume at full, reverb and trem off, bass and treble around 12 o’clock, gain barely on (around 7pm), and no jack plugged in, I’m getting a weird, audible fluttering noise. Was wondering if you could mimic these settings on yours and see if you’re getting any weird noise. Wondering if maybe I’ve got a dodgy amp. Thanks in advance!

    I just got mine. Love the tone but it does have a fair amount of white noise / hiss even when all knobs turned down. It starts to get quite “hissy” past 11 O’clock. Does yours do the same thing? I just don’t know if this is normal or if I have a problem unit? Very much appreciate your input.... thanks.

      BTW - I’m referring to the volume knob past 11 o’clock. I leave the gain all the way down, Bass @ 2 o’clock, treble at 4 o’clock for that scooped, “Princeton-ish” tone.

    Great video. I just ordered the Mini Superbeetle and will be using it with my Strat. I may have missed it but what is the Decibel level at Max with the Superbeetle vs the amps you just tested? Two other questions if you don’t mind: 1 - do you leave the stock Superbeetle cabinet on “deep”, 2 - do you find you have sufficient clean headroom at bedroom volumes? I play at home only. Would a different speaker or going to two speakers (cabinets) provide more clean volume?

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  4 роки тому

      Thanks! Here’s the amp at full: Electric Guitar Amplifiers at Full Volume Part 5 | Vox Mini SuperBeetle
      And yes I leave it set to Deep. Tons of volume for bedroom levels (probably too much).
      I can’t say how different speakers would change the headroom, I haven’t paid attention to that so far. Hope that helps!
