Her performance was very good. Really feels like its real. When hearing this for the first time I was absolutely shocked.
Honestly I see saes point she was left to rise makoto but she let the resentment build up instead of talking to her sister about their fathers death
It's really hard to forgive Sae for this. Later in the game, she's all like, "Yeah, we'll go out for Sushi :)" before you even go to her palace and it's just...man. So manipulative, even if she doesn't realize it.

after her arc and Ren's 5D chessmaster plan works does she EVER even once say sorry to the gang
does she EVER have even a single moment where she realizes she was in the wrong and apologizes to Makoto or anyone else
She doesn’t sadly the game ending had an awful pacing
@@dubstepbeecorsi6892 She apologizes to futaba for her invasive investigation of her mother’s death and her home life, which futaba brushes off. I think she also apologizes to the Phantom Thieves as a whole after Shido’s heart was stolen for being pretty much useless to their operations, and that she hopes to make up for it by spearheading Shido’s prosecution.
Unfortunately, I don’t think she ever apologizes to Makoto onscreen

Post ending they’re portrayed as being super close again and loving each other, but before the ending they rarely talk if ever.
So yeah, Sae manipulative much? I would’ve enjoyed seeing a small cutscene with both apologizing in private to each other, that’s all that would’ve done
She’s one of the best written characters, I remember HATING her. Then seeing her entire world fall apart with all those around her turning on her. The principal, the students, her own sister. That’s why her awakening was so amazing imo.

I think this is one of the best scenes in the game, even if it breaks my heart watching it... EVERY TIME...
It just makes my heart feel tight, as the dub is amazing. This scene feels natural and extremely emotional.
Which is why I'm really happy this has a payoff in the end, and a good one at that!
Makoto deserves all the love she gets, as does Sae

@@evaxiaolong She was definitely veering very close to becoming a truly bad person which only backslides very late in the game where there is not much left she can do to help you, though she does play a pivotal role in getting the best ending. That she quits being a prosecutor at the end is telling that she knew she did more harm than good over the course of her life and the story, and while it is nice to see that she is starting to become a defense attorney, we don't see much of it which doesn't make the switch as impactful in the end. At best, there is satisfaction in seeing that she is going to change for the better even if we don't really get to see it.

I understand, in strikers we see very little of her but I also wish I had seen more
we see her trying to be a better sister to makoto so that's already good proof that she has improved I think

I just got to this scene recently, and...this actually really hurt to see happen.
The thing is Makoto is more than capable of taking care of herself at this point, but she’s still gotta finish high school. Makoto always seemed like the kind of person that uses her own money for clothes and the like, but I also think with all the academic, student council and phantom thief stuff she might not have enough time for even a part time job.
Wow, guilt-tripping, manipulation, hostility, shifting the blame, Sae is the best sister ever! Right?
Makato needs a hug.

This is an unforgivable thing to say to a child. Sae is a nuanced character blah blah but in reality this is the kind of thing that stays with someone forever when they hear it growing up. I got so pissed hearing this in the game I couldn’t get on board w her redemption lol

This was the first scene to me, who showed how despaired, overwhelmed and frustrated Sae really is. She is so angry about her situation, just fired all of it on Makoto without thinking. Seeing Saes downward spiral over the whole game and how she became more and more corrupted makes her the best palace ruler in the game in my opinion. As well as seeing how much Makoto loves her sister and want to protect her against all odds, risking her own self by targeting Saes palace.

Not gonna lie, the entire sequence of events with makoto had the reverse effect of pity for me. She's been in the background as a mild antagonist at this point of the game, but when they have to start endearing her to the player we will accept her when she changes sides. But the way the do it is by having the entire universe just mercilessly throw hatred towards her. The principal, sae, and even the phantom thieves just rag on her and put her down to the point where it became almost hilarious how over the top they went with trying to wring pity out of the player. Sae's scene was the most emotionally gripping, and it still shocked me a bit, but they went a bit too far and the whole thing felt forced by the end.
I respect this opinion but to be fair Makoto's situation wasn't trying half as hard to wring pity from the player as compared to Futaba's (being bullied, having extreme social anxiety, absent father, watched her mother get hit by a car, abusive uncle,PTSD, harassed at her mothers funeral, had no friends growing up, etc.) imo that's WAY more over the top than having a bunch of people in one sequence call Makoto useless, i felt her's was a lot more organic and realistic tbh .
Dellbrrok Vince but both futaba and makoto werent over the top at all. Futaba had the most character development and complete arc out of any characters in the game too. Every single member of the Phantom Theaves should have had a shadow to confront and overcome. It’s part of the reason why I liked the characters from p4 more. Both of your arguments are a waste of my time and you should feel embarrassed
