- I'm back with my 12th installment of the Blast from the Past video series. This is where I share TTM (or through the mail) autographs of players who I wrote to as a kid back in the 1990's. It was always so much fun to come home from school and see if any letters from NFL players were in the mail - and plenty of times there were!
In this episode I share a handful of autographed football cards and photos from players from my youth, including a local legend and an NFL Hall of Famers!

It's always awesome to be able to look back through some old ink. Love the Derrick Thomas's.
Yeah, the nostalgia for me, the fun I had as a kid running home from the school bus to see if any players were me back, such a great time. The DT return was one of my favorites, so glad I got those returned to me back in the early 90's. Thanks for watching, Zach!
Fun stuff Brian! Love seeing this! Punters everywhere!😁 Derrick Thomas- very nice!!!!
Thanks buddy! Yeah, I should really cap punters at no more than one per video 🤣 So I definitely had to end with a banger. I was a huge fan of DT and that was one of my favorite TTMs as a kid for sure. Hope you're doing well, buddy!
The 1987 Topps cards were my very first football cards, too. My dad gave some to me. After he died in 1999, I dedicated myself to completing that entire set and was able to do it. Nice collection. Thanks for sharing.😊
That's a great memory for you and your dad. I'm really glad you got to complete that set! It has a lot of great players and definitely got me into the card collecting hobby. Thanks so much for watching!
Tony Bennett with the great note, that makes it more special than just an auto. That Rulon 1989 Pro Set is a beautiful card, great memories. Horan was an AP if I recall. Who would have thought punting in elevation would help one’s career 😂 WOW, DT, now way!! Treasures. Thanks for sharing.
The DT return was one of my favorite ever. I was thrilled getting that one the mail. You always hope, but wasn't expecting that one to come back. He sure was great. And give way too soon. Yeah, punting in Denver definitely helps 😁 Thanks for watching!
Hello Brian, i enjoyed to watch yours TTM's of the past, i enjoyed too to listen the biography you did for each players. Thanks for sharing and Happy TTM.
Thanks so much Fabien! I had to save the best for last 😊 (too many pointers on this one though 😂). I was thrilled when I got the Derrick Thomas cards back, when I was a kid. Thanks for watching!
Sweet TTM Autographs of cards and pictures, Mr. Bear Cards. Hope you had a great weekend too, hope you have a great week coming up. Peace Mr. Bear Cards.
Thanks buddy! It was always fun to find TTMs in the mail after school as a kid, so these are a fun trip down memory lane. Thanks for watching! 😊
Great cards and photos through the mail, Brian! I did baseball cards for TTM, but I didn't do football cards for some reason! Oh well! Bear Down!🐻
Thanks James! That's great you did baseball. Did you have any favorites from your baseball returns? Thanks again for watching, and Bear down!
@@bearcards3497 Mostly did the Cubs but I also had a box of 1983 Donruss Hall of Fame Heroes that I took full use! I also knew when I should stop! A friend and I wrote to Leon Durham around the same time, but we didn't get the same signature! Most of the signatures were real but some were not! So, I stopped!🐻
@@jbarnas100 that's awesome! Go Cubbies! I became a Cubs fan by way of the Bears... And Andre Dawson 😊 the '83 HOF stuff must've been fun. Yeah, I think most TTMs are legit, butt in sure dinner are family members, assistants, etc. So you never know. Have a great week!
Pretty cool you met Rulon Jones. Took a quick road trip to meet him. I remember my parents drove me to meet Scott Frost. The Jeff Gossett is a nice image. Not familiar with a lot of these guys. Cool hearing tidbits. Enjoyed.
Yeah Rulon was super nice. That's cool you got to meet Frost. Was that while he was still playing in college or in the NFL? Yeah some of these players are lesser known, so I had to be sure and throw Derrick Thomas at the end 😁 thanks for watching buddy!
Keep rocking it 🎉🎉
Thanks buddy!
Bunch of really cool signed photos 🏉🤠
89 card is for 88 season
Cool channel 😊
Thanks so much! It always made my day getting home from school and finding TTMs in the mail 😊. Yep, Pro Set and Topps had already produced the Jones card before he announced his retirement. I'm really glad they still included it 😊. What's interesting is that a year later in '90, Cody Risien retired before the season, and they ended up stopping production on his card early on and changed it to a different player who was still active and in '89 they also did that with Blair Bush, but not Rulon. Thanks so much for watching!
Good one Brian. Lots of forgotten players there. DT is still missed. 😢😢😢
Yeah DT was fantastic. I loved watching him play. Gone way too soon. Thanks for watching buddy!
Pretty cool note from Bennett. Funny that clubs would not spurge for color photos back in the day. Looks like Horan was left footed. Same as me when I played. Don't see that very often.
Hey Drew! What position did you play? Were you a punter? I'm 6'6" so offensive and defensive line for me 😁
Yeah I wish those photos were in color. I got a few dozen pics like that back and none were in color. But it sure was fun getting autos back in the mail. My brothers and I would check the mail every day after school for returns. Fun stuff 😊
I did some kicking and played TE and Monster Back on D. Monster Back is what it was called back then, but more like a Strong Safety now. @@bearcards3497
Those are nice Derrick Thomas autos. I bet they would be worth hundreds! I would just keep it.
Thanks buddy! Yeah, I was thrilled back in the day when DT sent me those autos back. Definitely one of my favorite TTM's from my youth. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing 👍 Who says Bears fans can't be pen pals with Green Bay Packers players? 😂 I give you tons of credit as a kid for appreciatiating these athletes' abilities regardless of the team they played for. I still heckle Packer fans to this day 😂 ...but in a loving way now. Thanks for sharing
Right?! 😁 it really was nice of him to write back 👍 thanks so much for watching!
Never know what you can get back when you send a couple cards through the mail
Very true. For two seasons my brothers and I wrote to practically every player on a handful of teams, and sometimes we'd get nothing. Sometimes we'd get stars... Sometimes the punters 😁
Dude you will collect anything. Get a Bobby Boucher autograph while you're at it.
You said Jim Mcmahon was a good quarterback. He had 100 career TD's in 15 seasons. That arguably puts him as one of the all-time worst starting quarterbacks in NFL history. That's absolutely HORRIBLE
The stats don't tell the whole story, and it's fine you think so. However, I disagree. Though at the end of the day, whether he was "good" or "HORRIBLE," I enjoyed watching him play as a kid, and he was QB1 for the one and only Superbowl for my favorite team, so I'm a fan, as are many Chicago Bears fans. But at the end of the day, everyone's got their opinions, and that's cool 👍
