Easy & Fun Way To Improve Your Dogs Recall: Bowling For Treats

One fun game - two great uses: strengthening your dog's recall and helping timid dogs get comfortable around strangers.
For recall, (come) playing games that encourage your dog to follow you and to come to you can be a catalyst to proofing your dog's solid recall skills!
When it comes to dogs that are scared of strangers, you can use a modified version of this game where instead of rewarding the dog for coming all the way back to the person at the other end of the leash (a stranger), you reward them (bowl out another treat away from you) for coming as close as they feel comfortable.

Thank you for this game! I have a very activ one year old doggo. She has moments/days where she is so excited and in a playful mode that she really doesn't listen. :( And there are days where she is prefect. I train her all the time. I hope those periods will pass.

My 4 year old trained my dog to do this. She sits with his bowl in her lap and throws handfuls of kibble out for him, he sprints around and collects them and she only throws them for him when he comes back to her. It was a great way to train him and engage her in his training.
