Superbly appropriate graphics to accompany this, which many people consider the finest piece of organ music ever written. And most refreshing to hear Mr Koopman playing below his more customary high speed, turbo powered gear in over-drive!
Oh man there is such company that one finds; here at the altar of some of the greatest music ever written and played. You are all welcome Christ said. And Bach is a gift to all who would hear truth.
I'm not sure what you mean, excepting that the other great C. Muller organ, that in the Bavokerk, Haarlem, has no wooden pipes, so maybe the Leeuwarden instrument is the same?
Dont know if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother lately :)
Ton’s so nuanced articulation and variation in it from detaché to legato to everything in between is what makes this performance so powerful - along with the relentless “drive” right the way through. The same registration throughout would be boring from another performer but the variation in touch achieved here is astonishing. Powerful, driven, relentless, right though to the end of the fugue. This is what makes it not “mechanical”. Amazing. I do agree with the other commentator though that Lionel Rogg smashes this piece!! - his is the definitive performance!
I like the performance. I often hear comments that Koopman is a mechanical engineer, or not in spirit of baroque playing. Either I am a bit deaf or these pieces should be played twice as fast in "baroque spirit" (whatever that means, in fact nobody knows), but I treasure my CDs with Koompan on these superb Dutch organs.
La mejor versión sin duda de la Passacaglia!! Lo único malo es que Koopman emplea mucho el "Pleno", y no usa tantos registros como Richter o Lionel Rogg.
13:17 - 13:22 "And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day" (Jos 10:13)
What a beautifull video of the all universe . In those pictures i can feel the precence of BACHs music What is unique in love to the his GOD . All BACHs musis was inpired in the creation. and the precence and the glory of GOD in the Human Life . Beautifull video and great interpretation of Koopman although a little bit fast at the end. Of course BACH put nothing about the dynamics (it was not usual at that time ) . Thats is the only i dont like so much, for the rest, congratulations.
T. Koopman is one of the most important baroque experts and musicians nowadays. Are you the defender of Richter..? That romanticist and castrant performer.. This is how Bach should sound. Pure organ, pure sound.
An ignorant, impertinent and unnecessary comment. Blame the organ and the organist for the fact that your squeaky little 1" speakers were on overload throughout.
Possibly the greatest organ work by Bach
Of all time

Wow great sound perspective sounds more distant & rich & cosmic

It seems that not everyone like the metallic sound. But I love this kind of organ sound best.
Pure organ. Pure harmonics. Pure sound.

This organ sound and the way its constructed while not the best of the ears its done to prove a point which is why i prefer it.

The goodfather, scene the baptism.
Music of creation

Typa song to play at funerals
7:03
@fossosejore No, thanks! I prefer the true baroque way of playing...
Beautiful universe images! but I don't like this performance very much. Without any feeling. Try Walcha version
you always get seasick listening to koopman....
and he seems spiritually dead.something like a robot out out synch.
I find it really bad, with an annoying cold metallic sound. One of the worst bwv 582 ever heard.
