It’s okay. One CT Scan is roughly 300 X-rays of radiation. So the X-rays are okay. But try and avoid CT scans if possible ❤

i done today but it taste like caramel flavor. they ask me to keep in mouth and swallow at once when they say. they done it 4 times in different steps and ways.

I didn’t get have any flavors. It was just like thick liquid chalk with an acidity tang to it. One cup of it was thinner though. I would’ve been fine with that, but it had an acidity tang. That made me want to throw up.

Great question!
If the exam is strictly a barium swallow, the patient will usually be standing upright, and the radiologist or physician can watch the patient swallow contrast in real time using fluoroscopy.
However, in most cases, swallows are part of a larger Upper GI (UGI) exam that looks at the esophagus, stomach, and start of the small bowel (duodenum). These exams typically start with the patient standing for the swallowing portion, but then the table is tilted horizontally, and the patient is then imaged in multiple positions (supine, prone, oblique) to investigate different parts of the anatomy.
At the same time, in any exam, patient positioning may depend on patient ability, departmental procedures, and exam goals.

@Rip.M3 it tasted absolutely rancid I’m not going to lie to you. I almost threw up 3 times. Fasted for 4 hours before the test. I went in stood at the machine took a mouthful 3 x then swallowed straight away when directed to. Then was tilted back to horizontal position lay on right side then stomach then left side. Tilted back up then told to take a mouthful and hold until directed to swallow x 3 this is where I almost spewed up. All okay afterwards taste lingers for abit and still feel sick on and off I had mine 6 hours ago now. Hope this answers some questions.
