There’s a hidden area where you can still add new sections to your page in the fluid engine!
If you click “Add Section” and scroll all the way down on the left navigation panel, there’s a link that says “Looking for sections in the classic editor?” (Or something similar). Clicking that link opens a different “Add Section” area that allows you to add sections with the classic editor.
    Hope this helps! 💚

Yes I'm aware of that! Though Squarespace has said that they aren't planning to keep that there, and in the future the only way to use CE sections will be to duplicate existing sections, so I didn't want to show it in the video :) Thanks for watching!

@@BigCatCreative Ah I see. Well maybe someone can still use it while they’re learning about the fluid engine 🤷🏽‍♀️

@@BigCatCreative I think it's a very bad idea that Squarespace is forcing that onto everyone who's on 7.1. They should give us the option to keep the classic editor, the same wy they let people with 7.0 sites keep theirs.

@@fabisantiago_ Keep in mind that you can duplicate existing Classic Editor sections and pages indefinitely. So there's ways around it. But I agree to an extent. It would be better in my opinion if you could "Add Section" and you could add a classic editor simple section or a more advanced FE section, as I think the combo of both would be best!

Do you think it's worth creating a new site/migrating to 7.0 since it won't be affected? And is it true that Fluid Engine can be bad for SEO - I'm supposing the code is created on the fly as we add/move elements, like in Wix (which is a terrible website builder)?

Up to you! I would personally get on board with Fluid Engine but maybe just hold off for another 6 months until some of the growing pains are sorted out. Remember you can continue to use Classic Editor by duplicating your existing sections and pages and none of your sections now will convert automatically so you can just leave them there until you're ready to use Fluid Engine OR you can just keep duplicating sections if you're never ready :)
SEO - Maybe you heard that elements are structured in the code in the order that you add them to the page. So this is something to keep in mind while building, mostly when you are adding and rearranging text. There's benefits and drawbacks to this. It means you can be more creative with your text placement as long as you are strategically putting things onto the page in the order you want them to be read by Google and Screen readers. But this could be something they change in the future as I can imagine that it may cause unintentional issues for some people - we'll see.

@@BigCatCreative Thank you so much for your detailed answer. I'm mostly worried about SEO and any updates looking messy without the classic grid.

@@fabisantiago_ I think you'll be fine for SEO but if you're really worried about any messiness then just hold off for a little bit, if you already have a site that is up and working fine, just wait a couple months and I bet a lot of the kinks will be worked out by then! :)

What does this mean for anyone that has a 7.0 site? Is everything still staying 'as-is' with those?
