Just stumbled in from live Don Aspiazu & Orchestra, Havana Club, ca. 1922, and.... Think I skipped ahead a century. Make a note to check the chronometer. Still have claves ringing in my head. But... Wow! Nice job on whatever that was. Some complicated music. Have to rewatch when I'm adjusted to the future.

Is that a breakbeats snare? That sounds phenomenal for a $100 drum
Shit. You got me. Yup! It'a the Breakbeats snare. After a lot of tuning and good mics it can sound pretty decent!
This guy deserves more views than coop3rdrumm3r imo
Booya!

arriiighhhttttt
Amazing playing man! What size is the drum head that is on top of the floor tom? Does it fit better, when it's bigger than the drum that you place it on?
Jakub Švejnar Hi bro, thanks a lot!
Its just a 14" snare drum head over the floor tom. It takes all the overtone out and kills the sound so it almost sounds like a bass drum.
Yogev Gabay Yeah, I use it too, usually on a snare. I was just asking because it kind of looks on the video that the drum head, that is placed on the floor tom is like 1" or so bigger than the floor tom, so I was wandering why :D. But thanks for the reply!
Jakub Švejnar And I also have to thank you for introducing me to Tigran Hamasyan. He is my favourite piano player now, I really love the stuff he is doing, so thank you for that! :)
Jakub Švejnar
Oh sure thing man. He is absolutely amazing
Hi ! Very awesome ! have you got a writing transcription ?
actually I don't! sorry!
Awesome work! Can you tell me what the metric modulation at 3:02 is, I can't figure it out?
Ok this is a hard one.
So when the song starts, is has a set tempo and the subdivision is in 16 notes. At 1:44 there's a tempo shift to a slower tempo. What's going on there is that Tigran is taking those groups of five 16 notes, and sets them up to be the new quarter note. So the new quarter note tempo, is actually 25% slower (because initially the quarter note was four 16 notes long, and now the new tempo is equal to five 16 notes).
The metric modulation that happens at 3:02 is just the opposite, so kinda just a way to go back to the initial tempo. Therefore, on a technical level, this is what's going on:
The new tempo (the slower one) is also subdivided into 4 sub beats (16 notes). At 3:02, he divides each quarter note to 5 equal sub beats (quintuplets), and the tempo shit happens when he decides that this new rate will now be referred as 16 notes instead, so taking those fast quintuplets, and grouping them in groups of 4 (instead of 5) to create a new, faster tempo.
I know how hard it is to understand this, because it's very difficult to explain with out showing you, but I hope this makes sense,
@@YogevGabay Thank you so much for the detailed answer! I'm still a bit confused though, 'cause if you take the tempo with the metronome (right before 3:02) it doesn't fit with the new tempo, it seems to get faster? I mean, if it uses what would be quintuplets in the slow tempo before 3:02, then the first 5 beats at 3:02 where it is grouping of 5 (old tempo quintuplets, new tempo 16ths), should match with the quarter note right before, right? But it doesn't, if you check with the metronome, it almost seems like triplets, or something in between. Do you have an explanation for this? :) I'm gonna play this song for a concert myself, that's why I'm so interested in getting it just right haha.
I'm still having trouble with the meter / time sig. Can you tell me what it is?
Pim de Vente Well,it kinda changes.
Basically its a 4/4 meter, divided into 5,5,7,5,5,5.
But not through out the whole thing...
Video on this just landed if you're still
Interested Pim? Such a good song and Yogev has hollowed out all its beautiful secrets.
fuckin' A!
Bro, please would you explain me the time signature of the piece.
It varies, but for the most part it's 4/4.
I know it doesn't sound like it, and some may argue, but I think in this case it is.
It's a two bar phrase divided as such: 5,5,7,5,5,5
5+5+7+5+5+5 = 32
32 = two bars of 16 notes
kapish?
Yogev Gabay Thanks bro. May God bless you.
You are awesome
oh my god he has hair here
Awesome but I got to say that some of the sound frequensys where way too loud compared to others, my ear stinged a bit every once in a while. Had to go from low volume to lower.
+Setä Sytkäri There is audible distortion throughout, correct. Quite a shame given the great performance.
Very UK- ish . Excellent though!
