As u can see he was not as explosive in college as he is now. This means he really worked hard to enhance the physical gifts he already had in college. Amazing!
I remember when he was drafted, the analysts were basically like "he's fast and explosive...I guess he can get better" He definitely came in the league as a raw talent without a jumpshot
@@Stunna6ix I’m a skinny freshman and I play forward so I’m bulking right now to prepare for varsity. I’m hoping I don’t have to change my shot as I’m so used to it.
I used to go watch Russ play at Paulie Pavillion after working at the hospital at UCLA.This dude was crazy amazing then he gets drafted to my hometown OKC..lol memories.Especially that alley opp he caught on that Arizona Wildcat player
He showed he had potential to be a great player in this video. It's showing in the NBA now. He worked hard and improved on athleticism and skills over the years.
That team could have been the best squad ever. They 6 players who had good pro careers including 2 potential HOF’s. The coach tried to mold them to his style instead of letting them play. Ben Holland did the worst possible coaching job.
He went to the league and got WAY more explosive lol he doesn’t look as fast or jump as high, and you would think he would look more athletic when he’s younger but that’s not the case
He had a 30 inch standing vertical and a 36 inch vertical at the draft combine but has increased both those, by at least 10 inches since he came into the league.
He plays faster than anyone. But some game situations require slowing down. He never developed the skill and mindset for when the game demands a slower more methodical approach.
I think it came with becoming overall more athletic. He always went at one speed, his fastest, but he got more athletic and faster over time. Looks like it got harder to control or put into tempo
SNAKE EYES right if you look at the fluidity in his shot in the beginning of the video you realize that his shooting form got worse when he became buff
As brilliant as Westbrook was, Kevin Love should have been the Wooden National Player of the Year. A true insult that Michael Beasley won it over Love.
great work on all the video clips, props to the technicians & content creator. The final four was in my hometown. Didn't go but both my sons did. They came back with a natural high. March madness is the s****!
For God so loved the world that He gave his only son, that whosoever believes on him should not perish, but have everlasting life...God loved us first, would you show your love to him. Repent and be converted. Now is the time for salvation, tomorrow may be too late.

Agree
@@shuntavaisjohnson86 no doubt.
I think NBA has some of the least stringent testing out of any league/sport.
Juice
You better work hard when u get into the nba
@@Baconppancakes No doubt. Lebron. Westbrook. A lot of NBA dudes are on that sauce. No way your athleticism INCREASES as you age. It peaks in college.
You can clearly see he wasn't as good as he is right,,,,, which clearly indicates his hard work
Which is what i admire most about guys like Russ & Kawhi
I remember when he was drafted, the analysts were basically like "he's fast and explosive...I guess he can get better"
He definitely came in the league as a raw talent without a jumpshot
Westbrook is like a Lamborghini train when he goes to the basket
I mean he was balling here looks like classic Westbrook to me 🤷🏻♂️
what are u talking about. he looks really good tf
K Love been throwing touchdown passes since birth 😂
Quarterback
All facts!
Beautiful
Man that crazy how his speed and hops improved in the nba. U can tell he went hard in the gym
besides working out more, nba players have easy access to the best legal and illegal supplements ... just look at lebron
What about Payton Manning when he got called he put it on his wife
@@dirtmike6258that’s true, but you can also do this without peds
His shot mechanic changed. It looked smoother in his sophomore season.
he gained a lot of muscle. so your shot will change. look at giannis form in his rookie season then look at his now
@@Stunna6ix I’m a skinny freshman and I play forward so I’m bulking right now to prepare for varsity. I’m hoping I don’t have to change my shot as I’m so used to it.

Wow 15 years later in 2021 he’s an even better athlete than he was then with the way he plays that’s unbelievable!!
Seems like a good kid, cant wait till he gets to league
Hopefully he can be a league MVP one day
Maybe even break the league record in triple doubles a season but who knows 🤷🏾♂️
Rack MC Yea who knows
Maybe never win a ring
🤷🏽♂️
Russell played the game with the same passion he has today.
He has way more hops now lol
And he's faster
crazy he doesn't look explosive like I'm used to seeing lol
@@Oink_McJeffery yooo Hes been dealing with an injury
Well yeah he was 18 and 19 years old
Russell Westbrook. The All Time Leader

I remember those UCLA teams... With the recent March Madness run they had I hope they stay on top of College Basketball 🏀
To think Jordan farmar was the best player on all those ucla final four teams!

@@dihanmustakeem4089 sheesh 🔥
Most uber athletic guys are more athletic even before playing in the league like high school and college. Russ was the opposite
Also probably due to the fact that russ had a growth spurt late. Grew to 6’3 in his senior year. So his body had to catch up
I Deadass thought ucla was playing the Sacramento kings for 2 secs 💀🤣
4 players from that team UCLA went to the NBA russ, love , collison, and moute!!!
@Broken Glass klove and russ going to HOF
@Broken Glass which means what?
Aaron aflalo?
Man that 2008 memphis team was somethin special
That boy was playing safety out there too 🔥🔥🔥
4:50 6:31 that Kevin Love's outlet pass is awesome.
He's one of the best ever at those.
He was doing those as a freshman in highschool,or before that.
Soooooooooooooo how are yall gonna upload Westbrooks college highlights without the 2 poster dunks against Cal & Oregon???🤔SMH
The title says March Madness bro
True, I remember his game winner vs Cal
You can tell how much his game improved shesh
Everything but his shot and decision making.
Full games please!
2007-08 ucla basketball team they choked in the final four
They didnt choke they faced a crazy memphis team led by young drose no college team was beating that
I mean, Kansas did tho
how the choked? they ran into a memphis team that had d rose. They made the final four that year still.
Marchmadness best Channel handsdown
0:33 The announcer calls it a block, then realizes that Westbrook actually finished it!
The brodie putting in work 💪
K love full court passes was crazy
He plays faster than anyone. But some game situations require slowing down. He never developed the skill and mindset for when the game demands a slower more methodical approach.
Honestly when he was younger and the fastest player in the nba, that was more of a pro than a con
looking like a boogie wid da hoodie in that thumbnail
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
His shot looks more complete here. I dunno why he shoots at the top of his release now 🤦🏽♂️
I think it came with becoming overall more athletic. He always went at one speed, his fastest, but he got more athletic and faster over time. Looks like it got harder to control or put into tempo
I think it's because he's short and has to release high to be open against taller and more athletic NBA players.
@@dalauder i mean he’s like 6’4 so he’s not small for his position
Future HALL OF FAMER RIGHT HERE. WESTBROOK!! GO UCLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Westbrook first step as a teen had to be scary af as a defender 😂
Love James Brown’s (NFL Today on CBS) call at 0:33
“This is Westbrook. BLOCKED! OH! SLAM DUNK!”
I didn't know Westbrook's first name was Freshman!
dude get so much hate for no reason and his career better than most yall favorite PG
Pretty quiet in College, But good in NBA
um no, he was on fire in college, how do you think he was drafted pretty high.........
Pretty selfish in college, still pretty selfish in the NBA
Zaki what i’m saying is that he was even better in the NBA than he was in college
Golden State Warriors pretty selfish being t3 in the nba in passes made last 5 years ....
Golden State Warriors you have to be selfish to succeed... aka Kobe and Jordan... gotta have that mentality
Look at Westbrooks hops here. Look at D Rose bounce in high school. It's not close when they were trying to compare these two players
He got so explosive once he hit the league
How could you hate this guy? All He does is gives 100%
Interesting to see how much more explosive he got over the years
Russell Westbrooks is the Modern Day Oscar Robertson
No Russell Westbrook is Russell Westbrook, Oscar is Oscar
@@oneking5042fr the only thing they have in common is triple doubles 😂

His shooting form really improved
I don't know about that
SNAKE EYES right if you look at the fluidity in his shot in the beginning of the video you realize that his shooting form got worse when he became buff
Russ old jumpshoot was better:/
This guys gonna have a good nba carrer
I’ll get you banned from UA-cam for pretending like you were in 2008 instead of watching these as a throwback to what he was before the NBA.
booming from day one!
We can as well include love in the title 😂
Godlike
The indiana team was pushing westbrook on 0:37 after the dunk he made I felt bad All he was trying to do was play basketball
I always swore he was better than d rose ...even before rose's injuries
Nah
Yes true, but not for his shot selection and IQ:/
0:31 like how bro said blocked
Completely forgot Westbrook and Kevin Love were college teammates.
My guy man.
Westbrook 🔥🔥
As brilliant as Westbrook was, Kevin Love should have been the Wooden National Player of the Year. A true insult that Michael Beasley won it over Love.
Definitely got faster and quicker once he entered the nba.
He is so aggressive back then.

Legend
Why does Westbrook look 5'10" in college
He was like 6'2 then grew to 6'4 after his rookie season and got more athletic
Russ had to have Played Defensive Back in High School with all those Steals-Interceptions. Looking like Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu😂😂😂😂👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
“The freshman”
Fastbreak westbrook undefeated
They sped this video up to make Westbrook look faster. It’s all relative through so it doesn’t work when everyone else moving at an enhanced speed lol
The elephant in the room is... I think he was legit better in college than he is now
Luke 6:43

Boy his jumpshot looked like hotdog water here
I cant find the stat sheet but in high school he shot 45% from 3
15k Ti Problem is that he’s naturally left handed but he shoots right handed just like J Wall and that’s why both of them have such broken jumpers
He was 19
Russell westbrook, running the fast break by himself, against multiple defenders, straight to hole, no matter what, since 2006….
He plays exactly the same today lol. These could've been 2020 highlights.

Kevin love to the wizards?🤔
He should because it’s not lookin right in Cleveland lol.
did he get any triple doubles in college?
He was just a driver back in the day
KEVIN LOVE IS THE OUTLET PASS GOAT
Russ really showed out against Memphis
His jumper was super dofferent it look better to me
Shorter distance in college
since his college days, he has the tendency not to pass to open teammates and chose to score instead.
doesn't even think of passing the rock! Lol.
Bruh, what happened to his skin tone? Did they not have sunlight all those years in OKC?
