ABSOLUTE EFFIN BELTER!!! LOVE IT!!! When I saw the artists and the tracks they'd be performing on this album... The combination of Imelda and this face-melter of a song had me wanting to skip every other song and go straight to this one!!! After working through the whole album to this point, it was worth the wait!!! Pure brilliance!!!
When the vocals began, there was betrayal to my indefinite goal of trying to remain as reasonably objective as possible. I failed. In haste, I did not like it, but I was soon to recant that opinion. This was fucking awesome. Feeling of a Mysterious uncertainty, with that consistant droning and rolling darkness. I love this. Thanks.
All you want, Imelda is fantastic, with her voice and her grit, but I miss her old look so much, her rock'n roll when she sang "My baby left me" and "Tainted love", who knows if one day it will come back ...👍👏
I loved her look too but I don't think she was very happy towards the end. Sometimes a woman needs to let that pain go and the things that went with it
Hi Imelda, I saw you at the El Rey, probably 15 yrs ago, after seeing you on Graham Norton, you were fantastic. I can understand your change from rockabilly to jazz, but I personally think you should return to your roots. You have such a unique fabulous voice that gets lost in whatever this kind of music is. I know that an artist wants to evolve, but you were probably at the top of the game in whatever you would call that style before you made that that change to jazz. Puuuhleaaase, consider your musical preferences, I suspect that if you were to go on a tour with a band like Social Distortion or similar, you would be huge, or perhaps you could play the Crazy World Festival in Pasadena next year. Anyway, you are awesome, I am glad that we had the chance to see you at the El Rey, you were amazing!
Imelda has been through a lot of late, as many of us know. Big, mineshaft darkness and a fight to the death. No wonder this song not only appeals to her now, but renders her capable of its requirements, because this is about as far as an Imelda May can get from the joyous rockabilly that made her. Me? Sure, I'll stay tuned; I can never tire of this voice. But whoaboy, is all the new stuff a very definite, different, cathartic wandering of her art through twilight, woods, and hopefully back onto a better Shire of what she audibly wants most: a healing.
G'wan Imelda! Deadly cover and a great off the beaten track choice of song. This definitely goes into the "keep that" pile from this album. Unlike Chase & Status who get the Torben Ulrich treatment with "I would say delete that"
Such a wonderful artist is Imelda May... underrated!!! Definitely it’s a must in this album! I followed you since 10 years ago when you sang rockabilly, you’re great Imelda! ❤️❤️❤️
It’s hard to follow this from The Warning and Alesia Cara’s reworking of Enter Sandman, But Imelda’s voice never fails. This is a great version of this song.
Not bad) But... I think, that better song for your, if we are playing metal, will be Lemmy's "God Was Never On Your Side". And... Personally I still prefer "Sixth Sense" + "Call Me" + "Road Runner" + ... ) From #Russia #Volga with love!)
The cover what made IDLES is the bull shit. But this... its f****** great. One of the best cover on whole blacklist, (if not most best). Sometimes make me feel, that it more better, than original. Thx for this and good luck to everything
Not sure what to think about this. Imelda sounds great, but I don’t think the lyrics of this song suit her. Could be this is one of least favorite songs on the black album.
Quite contrary I found she’s fitting and empowering the “sad irony” from the lyrics. I am moved hearing she sings “I see faith in your eyes…” and can relate the feeling Hetfield had when he wrote the part.
@@HelmanTaofani I'm familiar with the back story for the song. As a person of faith, I always thought this song really misrepresented what God is about. Even the title, The God that Failed, is misleading to me. It's just me personally, but it just doesn't sit well with me. Imelda strikes me as a spiritual person which is why I found the choice of this song ironic. Not that I presume to speak for her motivations. Just my perception.
@Phronesis as Inherence In terms of the song, lyrics, message, etc. It's one of those songs that if I didn't hear it again, I wouldn't miss it. Not saying it's a bad song, just saying it doesn't do anything for me.
Imelda is a phenomenon ... her voice is incredible .. she can sing any and every kind of music !!

After seeing the Blacklist trailer, this was the track I was most curious to hear.
Excellent rendition.
Yeah its pretty decent.. she done it justice.:)

I love this. Thanks.
Better than the idles version Jesus that was bad
I see a metal album in Imelda's future!
Nice to hear this pretty rare work from Imelda. I was curious about this and now I'm pleased
Superb rendition...🤘🤘🤘

This is amazing! you got a new fan Imelda

Hello 👋
G'wan Imelda! Deadly cover and a great off the beaten track choice of song.
This definitely goes into the "keep that" pile from this album. Unlike Chase & Status who get the Torben Ulrich treatment with "I would say delete that"
Such a wonderful artist is Imelda May... underrated!!!
Definitely it’s a must in this album!
I followed you since 10 years ago when you sang rockabilly, you’re great Imelda! ❤️❤️❤️
Great cover
Imelda, México te ama
Tremendous cover you did!! awesome i love it!! 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Esta rola es una pasada!!! De mis favoritas sin duda. Ni conocía a Imelda, pero qué buen trabajo.
Excellent! Close enough to stay faithful to the original, yet different enough to stand by itself.
Very good 👍
I see Movie Soundtrack in the future. Imelda needs a Grammy!!!
Best version of Metalica🙏💯
Ooh my....❤
She did an amazing job with this, I love it. Not an easy one to cover and she made it her own!
Love it. Sounds like a Tarantino movie
It sounds like something that would play during the end credits.
God who never failed couldn't be a god, god must be relatable.
That Yeahhhh at 02:02 is great :)
No conocia a esta talentosa chica, es muy el estilo que siempre escuho, que gran cover!!!
This is easily a contender for best track on the album.
I catch the message of the song through your rendition. Awesome works. Greetings from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Superb.
Oh, what a nice surprise!!! 💯👍👌✌️🌝💝🌹
Just me or does this have a “Personal Jesus” feel to it? Sounds great!
Yup, it is bluesy.
It's got that fuzzy feeling and the hollow sound like in Jesus.
@@BoyDharma
Well, the song clearly admits its unfortunate truth...
"Broken is the promise".😉😆
It's just you.
She's no Einstein..so.. yes. You're right.
Jesus Christ is the God that failed 🤘🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
Blew me away
The Beatles "Oh Darling" is Imelda's Favorite of mine...she's a beauty.
We want to see Imeldochka!💃👍👍👍👏👏👏⚘🌷🌼🌻🌺🥀🌹
Oooh 🙏💯
Excellent ❗❗✳️❗❗
⚡✨🔥✨⚡

Love your voice.
Very good!
Great job Imelda 👍
Siempre fabulosa!
Thanks 😙😙 😚
Good cover 🤘🏻
Great cover!
❤
I can use it in my broadcast?
WoW!
Brilliant 💙

Круто!
🤘🐍🤘
You are a godess ❤️
👌
Fucking CLASS
Мне очень нравится! Звучит отлично, этот голос я узнаю всегда и везде)
🌈❤Magique❤🌈
I love the original, but damn does this slap.
This song could magically appear on NFS The Run's soundtrack and noone would notice anything's off
Nice
Great cover - wipes the floor with the Idles's version
sweet /,,/,
It's good, but I absolutely love the riff at the beginning of the original which they don't do on this version, fair enough, different styles. ♥️🤘
groovy
Not bad) But... I think, that better song for your, if we are playing metal, will be Lemmy's "God Was Never On Your Side". And... Personally I still prefer "Sixth Sense" + "Call Me" + "Road Runner" + ... )

Many fail, kus they thought they were God's, or king of all!
The cover what made IDLES is the bull shit. But this... its f****** great. One of the best cover on whole blacklist, (if not most best). Sometimes make me feel, that it more better, than original.
Thx for this and good luck to everything
Paras Metallikan Coveri😊💪
Turned it into 70s blues rock, interesting.
👹
Tarta
Interesting person. Not all healthy. But who is?
Star-système. Mensonges et désillusions.
I preferred Imelda when she was singing joyful rockabilly. She always used to cheer me up. This is dreary and depressing.
For me I like both styles. Depending on my mood
It's literally from The Black Album. I mean, you expect perky?
Great version. Good to see she kept it dark
@@9496TULL Or, better still, the heartwrenching and very personal "Black Tears" that emerged from the breakup of her marriage.

Look at what James's up bringing was. This song is not a slag off of God but the institution his mother believed in which ultimately led to her death
@@nickwright5576 Totally get that and completely understand what the song is about. But it still hits me wrong on an emotional level.

The original is a person despairing at a world without god.
This cover is some sort of satanic figure rejoicing at the failure of god.
Pesee Metallikan " version" 😂
