The prototype, the Shirinsky-Shikhmatov bullet is one of the oldest Russian bullets for bear hunting with a 12-caliber smoothbore weapon (1880s). There is a deep expansion recess in the head part, closed from above with a capsule for expansiveness. The bullet was most likely designed for the traditional Russian bear hunting in its winter den. The shooting was conducted from a distance of 5-15 yards, and the bear had to be stopped immediately. Because the bear, waking up in winter, does not go to bed, but goes to nearby villages and eats people, dogs, everything that he can find. And it can kill the hunters themselves. It is very easy to kill a bear with a 223-caliber rifled rifle at 30 yards in the head, the skull splits. But it's not easy to get into a bear that runs, and bears run very fast for short distances. And such a 12-caliber bullet stops a bear when it hits almost any part of its body.

If you unload on some scum bag and you round goes straight through him, through the wall and ends up hitting your neighbour then it genuinely was demonstrating overkill. Hopefully this fragmenting design might take care of that problem. Also, obviously you have to pick your targets and angles, but that may not be possible in the heat of the moment when your home has been broken into. They are severely limited on what kind of guns they can own so instead have different ammunition for the same effect. Why in the world would a country outlaw rifled shotguns? The fact that people are making rounds for smoothbores that work just as well, shows just how absurd a law that is...
Range. A rifled gun can hold much higher pressure and thus shoot further. Of course with higher pressure you also get higher recoil and a shotgun can be savage with its recoil even on a smooth bore gun. Also it’s a control of language. A rifled shotgun shooting a slug is definitionally also a rifle so wiggle room for being allowed to own a rifle by the same law(s).

Been watching you guys for years!! Fantastic content!!! Love it!!
Wow!
Those rounds are something else!
I sure wouldn't want to get hit by one.
amazing! it worked as i expected and i was very impressed by that slug. water jug explosion was one of my favourites hits of all time...
I recall a city cop - talking about the one time, he had to consider shooting. He racked the slide -on and old pump 12 - and literally the perp pissed himself and ran out of where he was hiding. He kept yelling "don't shoot me - I give up!"
I wish they were all like that lol
The sound of a 12ga. pump being racked is a universal language.
@FireEscape LoL 😂😂
Danny can shoot! Jeff I'll never be able 2 put into words how much I enjoy ur channel. Keep up the good work, and thanks 4, showing this awesome twister round. 10/10 big man.
thank you Barry!
The ballistic pork shoulder is way easier to see through then the "clear" ballistic gel
Lol and about 20 times cheaper than a block of gel
Really good slow motion footage, particularly in the water jug. The separation of the petals was excellent.
Thank you very much!
This is the slug of Prince A. A. Shirinsky-Shikhmatov, invented by him earlier in 1912 for hunting a bear with a shotgun. In Russia, this is a very well-known slug, everyone calls it abbreviated - "She-Sha".
I really enjoy all your videos. Danny is a great shooter and definitely has some great knowledge as do you sir. Thank you for sharing these videos and the knowledge with them. Be safe and keep shooting. Best wishes from Arizona. 👍😎
thanks!
Trauma surgeons all over will wake up tonight in cold sweats..
I’m guessing they don’t see these.
Probably the non emergency surgeon that fills out your final paperwork does
Excellent targets, marksmanship, and film work. I've come to expect no less. Top shelf
Many thanks!
That was an impressive round. Any idea how it would perform without the wading attached? Buffalo outdoors is definitely one of the nicest people on UA-cam. He has a really good channel also.
I'm not an expert or anything, but I don't think that slug would get proper propulsion without the wad. It looked like it had a hole directly down the center, which would lead to a majority of the gas escaping, in my opinion.
I think it needs to be tested without the attached wads through rifling. Simpler is usually better.
@@taofledermaus 😁👍
@@fuckgoogle4712 I'd love to try these in a brown bess musket. Also, I agree with your name.
@@fuckgoogle4712 they aren’t asking how it would work without the wad. They are asking how it would work if you didn’t ATTACH it to the wad. Currently it’s screwed to the wad.
Very nice slug.
The pork shoulder test is very impressive and so is the ballistic gel. I'd say it's perfect for small pest control (fire and the pest is gone). Great shooting - shotgum and camera, as always!
thanks you again Saar!
@@taofledermaus I'm an addicted fan :)
The fact that one fully penetrated Doug was scary and the water jug was... explosive but the pork shoulder was especially impressive. Instant carnitas!
Doug once told me he doesn't mind being penetrated. So long as it's above the waist.
I didn't mention it but that vest was about half thickness. We were mostly trying to figure out the POI's with the slugs on a large target.
@@taofledermaus Ah, okay. I was wondering why that seemed so easy.
@@markfergerson2145 still wouldn’t want to be on the catching end, even with a full thickness vest. Gonna be a hell of a whack.
@@roberthenson6153 An awful lot of what we see here amounts to being stabbed with a very dull kevlar knife. The bullet doesn't stay in you, but there's a hole as big around as a broomhandle punched into you.
Hey Jeff, you still reading these comments? Put a vest on the ballistic gel and show us what that looks like.
Don't fear the smooth bore Comrades! I've seen Hickok drill that plate with a smooth bore lead screamer, so your testing is right on. Loved this video.
It would be interesting to see how they preform loaded in a mini shell.
Would have to be scaled down.
I am addicted to feeding my ksg mini slugs. You asked the question I always ask. I know I can fit two extra rounds if I do mini buckshot but the 1oz slug leaves a fun holes in my targets.
Would need a shorter wad (about 10mm/⅜" shorter)
Danny's looking great! Keep it up Danny! I agree, that is an absolutely devastating slug! Love the wet magazines. And the pork shoulder, WOW!
Thanks GT 🙂👍🏻. 🇺🇸😎
Nothing is overkill when it comes to protecting yourself from people who want to hurt you. And don't let the government convince you otherwise, because they don't want to be scared of the people they want to control
It is sad when the day has come when a person defending his home and family ends up in jail and the perpetrator/s are hailed as saints and martyrs.
You know who you have to thank for that....
@@scottplagmann3411 That is how it has been in England for some time! It takes something pretty terrible for the courts to line up behind the victim.
In regards 'too powerful' rounds--the only factor that should be considered is how it relates to over-penetration. You guys tend to have wooden houses. However, I agree--so long as your cartridge only vaporizes the criminal then overkill doesn't come in to it. That guy decided to break into your home and threaten your family. Unlucky day for him.
Why people need to break in?
And why they have firearms...?
@Harry Orchard harry, how many kills by guns do we have in germany every year, inclusive suicide and accident?
That's because of the restrictions of gun ownership.
Less idiots have guns.
And in case of entering my house unwelcomed, with a knife or something stupid...,
death comes with cold steel.
And if u believe a gun could save u than I am sure u believe in winning in the lottery...
I fear more the attack of a bear in the carpathians than to the possibility of getting shot in germany...
Fact.
And btw, my liberal neighbors?
U live in a box, sorry.
@@nidhoggvomwalde2280 I've BEEN to Germany. I'm from Canada. When I got to the Frankfurt airport yknow what I saw? Police, armed with submachine guns, patrolling in groups of up to 8 officers. You'd think you Krauts would be a bit nervous at the sound of Jack boots marching through hallways and magazines rattling on tactical gear, what with the whole "Gestapo" unt "S.S" and such... and yet CRIME still happens in Germany. Criminals still have guns. So Cops have guns, Criminals have guns, yknow who Doesn't? The poor bastards caught in between. Those are called Citizens. The People. So, can you really criticize the States? A country the size of the EU, with an insanely inefficient or malevolent police system, criminals who are treated leniently by the Liberal influence, and just regular-ass people who just want to be left to their business. The people should be ready and able to defend themselves and their families, be it against Criminals, or (what a German should understand more than Anyone I'd think) a Government that oversteps it's bounds. Imagine if the citizens of Germany, the Jews and the Üntermensch, hadn't been stripped of any ability to defend themselves before the flags all turned red? Was Germany ALWAYS a fascist, totalitarian, inhumane murder machine of a nation? Hell no, it's a great place with rich history and wonderful people. Which shows that it is Entirely Possible for a Government to go Bad. And there is only One nation on Earth that is honestly and truly Ready for if that happens. And you and I? We don't live in it. It's the USA.
Another great video, thanks guys!
I really like the slow mo at the end where you can see the pattern of the expansion in the water!
Glad you enjoyed it Ryan!
Jeff, I think you misunderstood: the saying is RIFLES make everything better, not rifling...
Glad I could clear up that misconception. 😅
Another great video, rip Danny you were a super cool dude
Hell yes love this channel!

YO DANNY,THAT SECOND SHOT
HUZZAH, BEAUTIFUL ACCURACY AND CONTROL.
I wholly endorse your plugs for Buffalo Outdoors. Are you gonna collab with Scott of Kentucky Ballistics during his recovery? Matt Carricker's offering today was a hoot! This one was up to your usual standards. Thanks, Jeff, Danny and (if any) crew.
Is your glass half full or half empty? Was Scott very, very lucky or very, very unlucky? Either way I'm glad he is still here, that was a close one.
@@COIcultist I still think Scott got one of those spiked rounds left over from the Vietnam War.
The problem wasn't the round, but what he was shooting it with wasn't rated for it.
@@thystaff742 Wrong!
@@MrEazyE357 You need a specific type of break for slap rounds. If you use what ever the break itself creates high pressure in the barrel.

Shooter? No, youtube. They are Velociteers!
Awesome footage particularly that final footage of the fragmentation in the water jug , excellent marksmanship and an outstanding fragmenting slug what more do We need from a ballistics science channel ? . That's easy ! - more of the same sort of thing . Thanks Jeff Thanks Danny You guys Rock . Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well .
Yes thank you. So many people on FB making alignment tools. I just use a new hull with the brass cut off
You don't even need them with this wad. The slugs are designed to fit them perfectly.
Lego blocks are square enough for most purposes. Make an L shaped stack and push whatever you're aligning against the inside corner. If you use multiple layers of thin pieces, any variation on individual pieces gets averaged out.
Not even my idea, saw a Russian guy doing it that way!
@@taofledermaus I always test fit the Russian slugs and wad riding slugs through a new hull minus the brass to make sure they will load and chamber well.. Just made sense to use it to align them too. Thanks for the great videos as always.
That Dannys hard breathing, finger poking meat and fly flying is something special
You sure can brighten up a Monday!
Definitely an awesome slug. Good to know it works at many velocities and without stabilization
I must say, for a subsonic round, that is very impressive.
I like watching what you all do.
It always amazes me what happens to the gel in that split second when the round hits it.
For the love of All of your subscribers, Please keep on being You!
That is one twisted round!
I'm in Kentucky leaning about windage at the moment. At an indoor shooting range. LOL I'll be back in California in a few weeks. Hope to buckle down and send you some tin slugs I make to see how they do. I'd love to see how they perform. Awesome video guys!
That's one hell of a tenderizer.
Thanks guys always enjoy the videos!
Thanks for watching!
I'd say you're either running out of powder before the end of the barrel or the rifling is causing a better seal than the smooth bore, making it a more efficient burn
Yeah, very possible.
@@taofledermaus - any chance you guys have the older Mossberg 500 12ga smoothbore 20” barrel with the rifle sights attached to compare with?
Seeing what the Twister slug did to the pork shoulder was quite impressive. If you were to hit an intruder in the Torso it would be unsurvivable. Likewise being hit in an extremity but either traumatically amputated or requiring amputation. I really need to get some of these. Guys another great video.
@5:28
"And here, Danny shows us size matters."
Nothing beats a Foster slug. I have tried all types of slug and ball, slug with BB's packed in Grex, you name it. Most others lack mass and that is why it sells and these others don't.
Tell "DEADEYE" Danny he did a great job.
That's a pretty awesome slug. Good shooting Danny
Yes, Russia cannot have rifled shotguns, but they can have AK74 "Hunting Carbines"
Danny's perfect aim will be missed.
I won't lie, when I saw the video title I was afraid that they had made that many sequels to a horrible movie.
Missed this video somehow but watching it this time I was saddened to see Danny in it. RIP Danny, you definitely added another element to these videos.
So many different slugs from Russia. I am starting to think they don't use the same slug twice, they must develop a new one for the next week's hunt.
They are severely limited on what kind of guns they can own so instead have different ammunition for the same effect. They must prove themselves as legitimate and “safe” with their smooth bore before they can even buy a rifles shotgun. I think you can start the paperwork after safe ownership of a smooth bore for 5 years before you can get a rifled gun!
Too bad there’s not an American importer specializing in slugs from places like Russia. I bet it’d be a fairly profitable business.
Loved this vid. Great camera work as usual.
Thanx for posting! 🇺🇸
thanks Byron
Dang, that pork shoulder shot was rough.
Wow, pretty impressive performance for subsonic.

Why in the world would a country outlaw rifled shotguns?
The fact that people are making rounds for smoothbores that work just as well,
shows just how absurd a law that is...
Can't believe how far this channel has gone in the last couple years!
