20:25 - The Hueys, sensing the recent crash of a Tomcat, arrive to scavenge for scraps. They cautiously wait while the Carrier fighters settle down. Provoking a flock of marine birds could spell disaster for the choppers.
yep in 60's people couldnt imagine somth like this , and should love to be formed on simulator , military simulation is one of the best things humans creates , hopefully it could bring peace in the world because more and more people could be paractising mil sim instead of doing real war , so more and more realism again and again should be the key of the succes

man i have to say i enjoy this video so much . shows the joy and good flight sim community you guys have . good laughs skilled flying and all around good fun . hope to one day be good enough to join the fun . cheers everyone !
Former Navy Aircraft maintainer here, the Air boss would have had a stroke 10 minutes into this video. But i must say I really enjoyed this. I am in the process of building a Rig now. Looking forward to flying with you all. soon. The ending was Epic. Great job Huey pilot on jettisoning of the Out of Control TomCat!!!! I literally laughed out loud!
The Whine off those Harrier engines!, gives me a headache, why once they land can't they shut the engines down?, also great laugh and well done guys :)
@@GR_Whistler :D Hey guys, i watched the whole video, so i know what happened, but i'm a Harrier pilot too and when i land i shut down my engine, taking off again is matter of few minutes :D I'm not trampling over nor giving suggestions, it's a matter of fact, harriers are movie-breakers :D I've been told so many times to shut it down that it's a natural thing now! My respects to the whole GR team, i'm eager to see your next campaign, hoping it will be somehow carrier based ;)
Seems like what you need is for a few key people with specific jobs, and clear radio channels/chatter. One to guide those in the air, one to guide those to the boat, and one to specifically guide those to parking spots to help pack them in without them crashing into each other. Oh wait, that's called ATC, LSO, and Ground Crew. But in general, seems like there isn't enough organization and too much side chatter. Lol With the right people/instructions, I think y'all can get more on the boat.
yes... 60 planes landed and parked plus Tacview analysis by GS which would explain how notching would have helped to park another 3 Tomcats. Twice as many planes parked but half the fun to watch I assume :-)
You boys are a Riot!! Love it!! Might join you one day when my PC actually manages to run DCS in OK Graphics lol... :) Love!! Love the ole Su-33!! One of my most fave planes of all times!
The record that I was part of was 54. From an American Aircraft Carrier we flew 54 aircraft over 200 miles to on-top "with the appropriate maritime offsets" of a Soviet SAG. I was surprised how close we got before we were lit up. I was monitoring ESM as all aircraft were EMCON-A as we came over the horizon. We were within 5 miles when they started to wake up. After that even 54 aircraft had to come back and land.
Honestly if they were on task, has mostly 18s (as 18s when folded up are quite small) you can easily do 40 or so without clogging the landing strip... and easily have another several harriers land vertically on the strip. Honestly 60-70 is probably doable.
This is outstanding! When I saw all the UH-1's hovering I though I figured they were expecting a lot of crashes and wanted more choppers on plane guard!
Can't believe I watched the entire thing! Ha! Good video. Next up, land the highest amount of aircraft on an aircraft carrier in the least amount of time possible. That would be a great challenge, requiring plenty of coordination and skills.
That was the recipe for a good blockbuster movie: 1/ take sexy people in beautiful machines, 2/ put them in a "behind closed doors" situation, 3/ raise the tension for 40 minutes with some casualties, 4/ add 3 minutes of a spicy uncertain outcome when everything looks out of business, 5/ and happy end with 1 minute to blow things up like a "banane flambée" dessert ! Thank you Grim Reapers X-D
Im new to dcs and I didn’t watch the whole vid. seems like they could’ve fit more helis, was it for sound or lag purposes that they stopped. Or is it genuinely just too hard to land helis that cleanly?
It would help if DCS could create a carrier that had working elevators and a hangar... some aircraft could try and make it down as others are landing (still dangerous) and make room!
Good it's not real value these aircrafts have :D Hilarious video to watch, the parking job coulda been better, and make space for more of them. As someone said - 50 would be possible with careful parking management. Love the ending, and the cat's donuts of death :D :D Keep the vids coming - we love them!!

This video should be titled "How my laptop sounds after opening 5 tabs on chrome".
It’s how my PC is going to sound running MS FS2020
i have 17 tabs XD on a 7yr old laptop
As a former flight deck crew member, that was both awesome and scary.
Mike Scott God bless
11:03 can we just talk about how that harrier actually survived that
jacob blair science
That was wild
Ever see Amazing Stories season 1 The Mission? He just willed that thing to do what he wanted.

You see Ivan, helicopter fly vertically, so why not make plane do too?
1960: In 2019, we will have advanced computers and they will be able to simulate realism.

When landing on a carrier you don't follow speed. If the AoA is correct you just follow that
@@holkemann Yes, I know, hence my comment. Thanks for stating the obvious ;P

This is what DCS is all about having fun with your buddies and jackassery! Congrats on 33!
“Just ease into it like an old man getting into a worm bath.” LMFAO😂
I thought he said a wombat which would make perfect sense if they were in Australia!
I thought he said warm bat which, like wombat, would not have made any sense anywhere except maybe Alabama
Warm bath
BRC 21 lol “worm” bath reminds me of a Chappelle show episode when he was making fun of fear factor with Joe Rogan.
LMAO!

Pretty sure that more than enough coffee was spilled anyway that day...

that must have been fun :D but hell those harriers are noisy! mandatory shutdown on landing!
