I installed a 2” lift from Ready Lift about a year ago on my 2015 Forester and it was super easy. No mods required. Tires are wearing perfectly normal after a simple camber adjustment. I’ve got over 30,000 miles on it now and love it. It was under $400 and took me about 5 hours by myself.
Did you have any issue with the tie rod hitting the sway at full lock when unloaded? I installed a 2 inch Raceland lift over the weekend and ran into this issue. Ended up going back to my subtle solutions 1in lift.
We have a 2023 Ascent. I've heard great things about the ADF lift options, but we decided on going with Rallitek. In 2 weeks we are having a 1/2" front and rear springs installed plus 1 1/2" spacers front and rear for a total of 2" Lift. The springs alone are suppose to add about 30% more stiffness and I'm guessing compressing them with spacers will increase that a bit. My goal was more clearance without ruining the ride too much, we'll see! I like the look of your forester, although I prefer proper mudflaps (like the ones you still had on the rear). :) I've always used RallyArmor mudflaps, both on our WRX and now on our Ascent.
I just picked up my second Forester, a 2018 in dark gray. I had King Springs (never installed )for my 04 XT and heard these same observations regarding ride and handling for that car. To say the least, the 2018 is soft off road compared to the XT (still great). Can't wait for off road impressions after the lift!
I just got back from the U.P. Michigan. I have the 2019 Subaru forester sport total stock. Went on the U.P. 134 trail with no problems even made a wrong turn and went on some "trails" a stock subie should not be on. Wish i had video of the event, but i was impressed with the handling. Thanks for your videos helped me making the choice of the Subaru the best for me and what i want to do. Hopefully I will do a lift and wheels/tires upgrade soon.
Awesome stuff! I'm thinking of going with the ADF 4 inch lift once I set aside enough money. For this lift, the engine and transmission drop 2 inches, and everything goes up 4. I hear it's actually less stress on the CV joints, but haven't confirmed that. Anyways, congratz on your lift. You're Forester 2.5 is really coming along nicely!
Can't blame ya, man! 2" is a good way to get a mild lift without hurting or having to mod the CV joints and keeping it reliable for a DD. Even if a 4" or 6" lift was easy to do I think I'd have to ask my self 'why not just buy a Jeep or Toyota'.
I just got a 2018 Subaru Forester and I'm adding a 2" lift with 225/65R/17 Falken tires, but after seeing your Forester, I'm wondering if I needed slightly bigger tires now...
Sorry to go off topic here but a cargo box is next in my list and I’m curious how you like that Thule? Which model is that? Need some extra space for family stuff (kid, dog, camping gear, etc.). Seems like the Yakima Skybox 16 is popular as well but I’m digging the color of that Thule box on the metallic gray.
The Thule cargo box is great. It's the wife's but it ends up on my car more often than not. It's an Atlantis 1600XT. My only complaint is how much mounting anything on the roof affects the MPG and wind resistance. This one holds a lot, but it's a bit taller than I like. If I were to buy another I would get something of similar or greater length, but shorter.
Thanks!! From a function standpoint I'm really happy with what Subaru has done to the 2014+ models with larger wheel wells for bigger tires and the addition of X-mode for off-road use.
Can you walk me through the cumulative lift amounts here? From my understanding, the spring lift and the spacer lifts will affect different parts of the driveline system and not be additive at the CV joints. The spacers move the body up, affecting the drive shaft joints to the differential, but not the CVs those parts of the system are still at the same height relative to the road surface. The spring lift lifts everything together, the body and the diffs, increasing only the axle and CV joint angles. Do I have that wrong?
Thanks! Most are doing mods similar to this without or without the lift. Biggest mods we see are better wheels and tires, roof carriers, roof tents, lift kits via spacers and/or springs or both like I did, etc.
Hey man how are the KO2s on pavement? Very loud or not really? Want to lift my forester and put A/Ts on it but it’s my daily drive and want to find an A/T tire that’s still acceptable on pavement for daily driving.
I did the ADF 2" lift on my '18 Outback. Ride quality has severely decreased. A lot more vibration, got the CKE transmission insert but I still get the vibration in the steering wheel between 20-23mph and at 70-73mph it seems. It looks cooler and is more capable but I don't know if I'd do it again. Mostly did it because the approach and departure angles on the Outback are so awful.

Hey man, I just bought a 2015 Forester and am looking to do a lot of similar mods as you have been. Would be nice to chat somewhere beyond here to hear about what your thoughts are, etc.
Please tell me are these spacers or lift kit of spacers did you have to widen the holes in the strut tower to fit? Or is it straight bolt on please let me know asap it's a gift I'm trying to het
Can you tell me with your BFG KO2's (235/75/15) do any part of the tire tread extend past the wheel well/fender area. Your mods have been inspiring so I have my 2"ADF lift on its way and a set of 15" Black Rhino's on there way too! I'm trying to decide on tires but fear that I could fail a safety inspection if the width of the tire tread extends outside the fender.
With my 1.75" ADF spacer lift + .25"~ spring lift combined with these +15mm wheels I am damn near flush with the body of the vehicle. It may poke ever so slightly, but if so I believe that is sidewall, not tread. If you run into issues you could always add a set of the black plastic fender arch moldings. They will add a bit of width to the fender, probably .25" or more. They are on eBay and sometimes, depending on model and year, can be found as OEM. Glad to hear this has been inspiring!
They're heavy compared to what nearly everyone else is running on Subarus, which is typical all-season tires or mild ATs. I talk more about MPG in another video.
I’ve got a 14’ Forester. I want to do a lift eventually but was wondering if you know if I can put that same tire and wheel size, the 235/75/15, and do the lift later in like a year let’s say? Mainly thinking of the clearance when turning since that’s a wider tire.
I think I mentioned it in this video, but maybe it was another. I would NOT do the 235/75r15 without a lift. I did and I guess I got by, but with any amount of weight on the rear will cause the rear tires to impact and rub the outer fender liner on any bumps. It's not ideal.
Being that its a 2.5i forester do you feel a lag of power in the car or does it feel the same? i'm asking because I'm planning on lifting my 2.5i also.
I wouldn't describe it as a "lag", but there is definitely a slight bit of power loss felt due to everything as a whole, but mainly the big, heavy tires. It's not bad though.
Nice car :) What brand are your front coils? I do have rear IRONMAN coil springs which are stiffer than genuine SUBARU. But I haven't found yet something similar for the front suspension.
Great vid, thank you. So you don't need to change the training arm to centre the rear wheels like the previous gen? Also, with the bigger tires/rims did you notice any impact on acceleration?
Looking good. Have the same wheel/Tire package on its way except I’ll be playing it a bit safer with 215 75/15 until I eventually consider a lift. Any thoughts on what PSI to run in my tires?
Don't blame ya at all. I was really looking for the most clearance possible and am still even debating 30x9.5"r15 for my next set, but those are a ways down the road. I have a little rubbing as is so. Hard to say on PSI as it varies a lot by size, weight of vehicle, tire compound etc. I usually just play with them a bit and find what works best for me in different conditions.
The set is on its way but there are plenty of builds running 215s that you can find photos of. Check out the LP Adventure website and you’ll see a few examples.
thanks guys, yeah I saw the LP pictures of the 215s and definitely still looking aggressive. that means I can keep this wheel set and use it on a new Crosstrek later down the future!
Hi There! I live in Quebec Canada, I just order a lift kit from Subie Lift Oz. I got a question about the right tires and wheels to put on my 2017 Forester. I order a 2" lift front and 2,5" rear. I got 17 " weels. What should I get 15" weels? Tire? Geolander ? or ALL terrain? WILDPEAK A/T3W de FALKEN. We will also put a skid plate under.
As long as you have the 2.5i without the turbo you can fit as low as 15 inch assuming they are the "rally" style like the Black Rhino Boxers shown in this video or the Method MR502s. If you are looking to offroad with it then give the 15s a look. 235/75r15 is what I ended with, but the 225/75r15s are just as good and fit a bit better. They're just harder to find in that size.
Just Lifted my'18 FXT with ADF's 1.5" lift and swapped in King Standard springs (I kept the stock struts and reused the existing rubber cap), but I've noticed creaking coming from the from front springs, did you experience anything like this?
Love the look of it, thinking of doing something very similar to my Forester when I get it. My question: What's the fuel economy like now with the lift and the tyres? Have you noticed any significant differences? Thanks
Not sure I've driven it enough to say what the lift has done to MPG. However, comparing tires to say the roof rack or my Thule cargo carrier, the stuff on the roof puts a HUGE dent in MPG compared to any tires. I believe that is the biggest factor here.
thanks for the info man, in that case I won't be too worried when picking out a proper tyre for mine. I guess the great thing about having a Thule on the roof as opposed to a more permanent roof rack structure is how easy it is to remove it and save on MPG when it's not in use. I'll definitely bear that in mind when doing my build. Thanks :-)
I got a 2” leveling kit (2 in the front and 1.5 rear) but it doesn’t have the rear multi link spacers for the subframe. Do you know if that’ll be an issue?
You should be fine with only 1.5" in the rear, but anytime you put weight on that setup you're going to sag a lot in the rear. My setup was running about a 1/4" higher in the rear and even I sagged with weight.
I guesstimate 6 hours as shown here with the springs and someone who knows what they are doing. Without doing springs you will save A LOT of time. I'd recommend a lift if you can find one, but not a big deal if you can't. Yep, 235/75r15.
how were you able to fit 15x7 boxers on? i have a 2019 forester and black rhino is saying they will not fit. i have a 1.5inch adf lift. any thoughts? rig looks dope btw...
Easily. Mine is a 2015 though. The rally style 15" wheels fit these models no problem. Will they fit the newer 2019 model... I donno. I'm not sure if Subaru changed the calipers for that year - maybe they're bigger. If so and you wanted to go this route you'd have the same issue as this model year FXT does, calipers are too big, gotta downsize to the Subaru 4pots to get 'em to fit.
I have a 2015 2.5i as well and am wanting to do something similar, have you had any issues with going from the stock +48 offset to the aftermarket +15? or do you just need to make sure the alignment and camber is good? Also what spec tires did you go with? Thanks!
I no longer have this vehicle, but no I did not have any issues. The offset has nothing to do with alignment. Tire and wheel specs should be listed in video desc or they are all in the dedicated wheel and tire vids on my channel page. :)

Where did u buy the king springs ? I can’t seem to find them online
Primitive Racing
Oh man, I love it
Love the look of it, thinking of doing something very similar to my Forester when I get it.
So without the king springs you guestimate 6 hours? Also what tools do you recommend?
Finally the tires are in 15inch rims? 235 75 r15?...
I guesstimate 6 hours as shown here with the springs and someone who knows what they are doing. Without doing springs you will save A LOT of time. I'd recommend a lift if you can find one, but not a big deal if you can't. Yep, 235/75r15.
@@HighjakSecondary awesome thanks :)
Do you think 30x9.50x15 will fit? I have the same set up and wanted your opinion.
Have you noticed any “shimmy” after you put the lift on?
Nope. Rides just as smooth as it did in stock form minus the springs being a bit firmer than stock.
how were you able to fit 15x7 boxers on? i have a 2019 forester and black rhino is saying they will not fit. i have a 1.5inch adf lift. any thoughts? rig looks dope btw...
Awesome! I’m wondering if you measured the ground clearance front and back before and after???
No, I never did. I probably should have though. The tires add about .65" and the lift is roughly 2" in total.
@@HighjakSecondary awesome thanks for the info and the quick response!
how was the car after the lift? I was wondering if the lift would cause drivetrain problems in the long run? thanks in advance.
No issues. If you go above 2" however you may run into premature wear of the CV joints though.
HighjakSecondary thank you. i’m picking up a 15 foz 2.5i today I wanted to do the same setup as yours. I live in NY and the snow is pretty bad on winter.
