Nice to get a mention! Looking forward to this, me and Excel go back about 35 years...
Wow, I’m that John that Lee was talking about in Newave who changed his name every week. :) Wow, i remember so much of what he said. What a memory Lee has, Brilliant times. He’s spot on with everything. Robbo, Doze, Excel, Shuto, Sub, were up everywhere. Glad to see Lee’s well and still talking.
This man. Mid 80’sLondon - everywhere I went, with such a distinctive tag n style. Massive respect. ❤️
I remember seeing his work around London way back, great to see the man behind the work. I would have no idea looking at him on the street that he was a Grafitti legend.
He makes a good point about the fashion, something as simple as wearing your baseball cap backwards was subversive and hip hop, the cut of the jeans, the style of trainer, how you wore the hat, the haircut, all were subtle indicators that you were into Hiphop.
I remember racking markers, Eddin 850, you could just take them as they weren't locked away or out of reach, and yeah no CCTV.
Great podcast. I love Excel's description of going down Ladbroke Grove and seeing how bombed the area was and how repetitious Demo tags were. 'in every available surface, there was a Demo tag', 'and another one, just in case you missed that one,' here's another one'. 26.30.
Chrome pieces in the stations. Not quick dubs. Those were the days my friend......
Hope you're good Max...Merc.
Gonna comment before I even watch!!! Big love to this living legend! Hats off to you bro! True DON in this!
This is my absolute most favourite interview yet, he goes into everything. Not many people talk about the meet ups, music, belt buckles, racking, laces, spots etc. He really recalls everything really well. Great story telling and interview.
Wicked interview with a living legend and good friend..
Big up 502. One North Londons finest writers and true gent.. Nuff Respekt
My favourite since the Drax one. Epic news to me about Imp snitching, loved his handstyle. Nice acknowledgment given to Series and Masiker. Really top notch interview. Thank you
First tag I ever recall seeing when I came down to London to visit family in 1980s
That was fabulous, I grew up on that same estate, all those names...
SUB was the tag I remember from my younger years in London! Haven’t seen one for years hope he’s enjoying life
Great interview, the BMX shop he is talking about going to in Croydon was Mud Machine, later became M-Zone, and the wooden ramps he is talking of were meanwhile quarter pipes next to meanwhile 2 banks skatepark. off Royal Oak station. Great listen.
Excel & Robbo were the first really up writers I noticed in London. They were everywhere!!!!
Finally finished it - one of the best interviews you've done, what makes it special for me is knowing a lot of the scenarios and people mentioned as I was part of the same period running parallel with a lot of crossover, the people he was painting with were people I was painting with...bigup Excel.
Hopefully you'll be on soon!, respect.
That was amazing. Good work. Rain man's gotta be on your hit list…
Sooo love it lol nice one Fellas. Thank you guys. Absolute class!

Wicked interview, One of the most prolific writers from back in the day when I used to write myself,, Loved seeing that crisp hand style on nearly every bus train, and station in London, EXCELSMASHEDIT🤩
Known this guy since late 80’s. Too man. Can’t wait to drive him up to the BBQ for our 13 year?. “Dex, make sure you pull over for me RedStripes”. Legendary.
Excellent interview, Excel tags, among others was part of my visit to the estate in Finsbury Park, my Aunt and Uncle lived there. What a nice guy, so good to put a face to that name, great story teller, mad times, inspired me to get up in my city. Massive respect.
So grateful for this podcast (AMAZING!) Thank you!
