Man, you guys are on a roll lately with these recipes. Better then stuff you find at many restaurants. vegan grill cheese, millionaire squares, vegan kebab. I never even thought of a vegan kebab. looks so good. love the channel, love the guest.
A vegan kebab to me would be big chunks of onion, Jalapeño peppers, mushrooms and marinated tandoori spiced tofu on a skewer oh tomatoes too. Served with basmati rice and lime wedges.
Just made this recipe and it is truly epic!! The whole family loved it... Bought Jackfruit online in bulk... very useful for many dishes... keep it coming lads! loving your channel!
Roasting veggies brings out the most amazing flavor with little added to them - carrots, sweet potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, eggplant, onions, okra the list goes on and on and on
Couldn't get jackfruit so I used Oyster mushrooms and tempeh. Can't compare to what it would have been like with jackfruit but it was an amazing meal and I'm looking forward to your new book coming out in 2018, thanks!
I made this today and it was absolutely brilliant. Great recipe for the chilli sauce, it really makes the kebab pop. We only used about half of it and put the rest in the fridge for a tasty dip :)
If you roast big oyster mushrooms you can sort of pull them apart afterwards using a fork (scraping motion) before panfrying them like the jackfruit in this video, that way they are sort of like pulled pork but also really similar to the kebab meat!
Looks great! Here in U.S. a kebab is bite-size pieces of tofu(?), and vegs like toms, onions, bell peppers, etc., put on a small stick and cooked over a grill---- Also, you can use fruit----pineapple, peaches, etc.
I love your videos guys - you're providing a very valuable service... I'm currently avoiding oils in my diet to heal a cholesterol problem I have. Do you think the garlic sauce would work without the sunflower oil? Could I substitute the oil for something whole to achieve a suspension like consistency???
Looks absolutely delicious as always! Can't wait to make them! But we call these tacos in the U.S. and it's a wrap if it's put in a tortilla shell. I think it's so interesting the difference in language. So cool! Thanks for sharing!
I seriously need to stop watching your recipes on an empty stomach. Mouthwatering! And I don't have the ingredients to make it, as usual. Darn you, jackfruit (and chillies, and apple juice.....)! Jotting down a shopping list! :D
Attempting these tonight. Made the sauces last night to save time. Have to say the hardest part of this recipe so far has been locating the bloody jackfruit. Mission accomplished.
Went perfect. Made 4 and the wife and I finished them off in quick order. I might have to look into a different brand of Soy Milk though. Even though I got unsweetened, I could still taste it over the garlic. Not bad, just sweeter than expected. Cheers, mates!
I don't know where you live but all the Chinese supermarkets in tallaght have it and the mature jackfruit for dessert also the Indian market in stillorgan has it.
Hey guys, have both your books and love your food!! The kebabs were tasty!!! Just wondering if you have any suggestions of what to do with left over garlic and chilli sauce..., how long they will last and can they be frozen? Thanks😊
After hearing so much about jack fruit lately I went to not one, not two but 6 grocery stores to find it, and now I know exactly what I want to do with it; thank you!
I am going crazy with your channel. Your recipes are easier to do. Thanks for sharing! I like Marty's reaction everytime he tastes your cooking! Love your videos!!! Actually I am turning to be vegan slowly but surely become pure vegan in the furure. You are good in motivating people! Very encouraging! Love your stuff!

Good idea. I love mushrooms and have never been a fan of using jackfruit for meat. Jackfruit is one of the sweetest things I've ever eaten -- at least when it's fresh. It tastes like bubble gum.
@@palecompass3598 I agree with you on it's taste raw anyway... but i've had it fried like chips, and it's like a hearty fry, and cooked it wasn't really sweet... it does a good job of taking on the flavor you give it... I'm not a fan of it raw though, I would describe it as stinky sweet... lol
I lived in the UK for 15 years and also spent time in Ireland. I know kebab with two sauces so this better be good because every now and then I miss them! In the UK for 15 years and also spent time in Ireland I know kabob with two sauces so this better be good because every now and then I miss them! I use tahini a base for my garlic sauce with a ton of fresh crushed garlic but I never knew what the base was. I also add lemon juice and a couple of other things to the garlic sauce. I remember right down the road there was a chippy and they sold Kebab meat sandwiches on a round like a hamburger bun covered in garlic sauce I ate at least two a week I could just take a bath in the garlic sauce from anywhere! I think I would use soy curls over jackfruit. I think I would use soy curls over Jack fruit. Whenever I got a takeaway kebab I won't say how much they weighed but they had bread on the top and bottom in the Box.
Hiii it luks so convincingly good I cud go vegetarian, have a question I don't use mustard in my cooking I once tried it and it ws so Bitter, if I try it again. And use it will my garlic sauce taste bitter? If so please is there alternative to this mustard I can thanks
Looks delish, can't wait to try it but I don't think that's jackfruit, that's breadfruit is't it? It sure looks like what my grandma grew back in her garden.. Jackfruit has larger seeds and larger pods.
Hahaha! Hmm weird, almost 99% sure it's breadfruit. Also, try braising it in coconut milk and chillies. It's a filipino dish called Bicol express (originally made with crab) but with that it tastes soooooo much better. :D
I lived in the UK for more than 10 years and I would have killed for a regular kebab a number of years ago. I hope this one is good because I will eat it 3 times a week! The places I went to only had the red sauce and the garlic sauce the white garlic sauce that I could have eaten the entire bowl of.
After watching this video I desperately want to eat this kebab :p does someone knows where is the best place to order jack online? As any of the normal stores sell it
Oh my gosh! I was in Happy Pear in Greystones today and I heard Marty’s voice :) couldn’t believe it! :) haha! Bit star struck! :-P haha! :) very cool :) such a nice guy :) twas a pleasure to meet him :) ya never know, might get a picture with him next time :-P haha! :)
I've had this on my ’to try’ list forever, and finally made them today. They were sooo delicious!! When I tasted the cooked jackfruit on it's own, it seemed too sweet and not meatlike at all, a little tip - definitely slice it in tiny peaces so the moisture evaporates better. But the final product was super yummy, it all blended so well together, it reminded me of the kebabs I used to eat back in my country, which is odd because those were in a wrap, not pitta, contained lots of cabbage and completely different ingredients. 😆 the garlic sauce was probably what sealed the deal. I don't use soy milk so I made my own version with greek yogurt and mayo. The chilli sauce though... 🥵🥵🥵🌶🌶🌶🔥🔥🔥 BE WARNED!! I gasped when I saw they put 6 whole chillies, I used 4 smaller ones and it still made my mouth burn!! And I only added some to jackfruit mix, no extra on finished kebab. You guys are crazy xD

The sauces in this video are AMAZING! Have been using the leftovers in all sorts of other dishes. I can't seem to find jackfruit in my area, but tofu worked really well as a substitute.
There is possibly or something green of the herb Variety in the garlic sauce usually. There is no mustard in it but it's looking good. Okay I'm going to try making this! Do you think Jackfruit is preferable to seitan homemade? Get black pepper and Seasonings into that jackfruit. You're making me nervous.

I think the soy milk is not neccessary- the garlic itself is creamy when mixed, but I like it otherwise. And I love the fact that you use jackfruit instead of tofu (y)

For the last 30 seconds or so Marty was just eyeing that kebab, just eager to get another bite in haha. Loved it! Great video and recipe guys!
Made this for supper tonight. It was a big hit. I can't get over that creamy garlic sauce. I've never made anything like it before. Magic!
