@@sd.2528 yup made zero sense to drop Naseer over heather and erika and then take out his biggest ally and decide to take all the blame and considers himself to be the best player ever. Yup somebody who’s at the bottom of his premerge tribe, bottom of the black alliance(Yase was trying to flip Erika , Heather, and Naseer, not Ricard, just shows how bad his positioning was where the outsiders thought of him as disposable and he wasn’t even black), makes the move on shan and has no allies left after that.

God, I love Ricard so much. I know people feel that he was too cocky on the show, and there are signs of it here, but you can tell that he just has a genuine love for the game, and a genuinely GOOD understanding of every aspect of the game, AND he has the ability to really reflect on what went wrong at what step of the way. The more he explained as the podcast went on, I really found myself in his strategy, and I'm glad to finally have (another!) modern-day queer figure to look up to on the show.

1:17:00 has to be one of the sweetest moments I've ever heard of in survivor. As a gay person myself it's really nice to hear stories like this about two friends who just appreciate a moment like this together. Given that it's now 2022 it's much more normal for friendships like this to occur and I can attest to that given my closest friends are straight guys and it's just nice to hear about a moment like this

As someone who’s watched every episode of this past season as well as each podcast after the épaisses aired, listening to this deep dive was very eye opening and clarified a lot of the questions that came up in regards to the edit versus the reality. I knew Ricard was a great strategist but the way he was able to depict his role in moves that seemingly were credited to someone else in the edit just shows how dominant Ricard was in the season as a social and strategical player (obv physical too).

Wow...covid really did a number on how Survivor was produced. A LOT of time for quarantine to ensure safety for the cast (and crew I'm sure). I agree that the season was not marketed correctly. There was no "monster", and they did the contestants dirty by not informing them of the hourglass twist. Surprised there was no contestant riot to stop playing the game at that point.
Also, it sucks that players are getting hate mail/messages for what happened months ago on a tv game show. They are contestants, and they are playing for their self preservation and longevity in the game. The big picture perspective is that viewers watch Survivor for entertainment, and the players are part of the edited product, so yeah, it's understandable to root for some and feel very attached to certain players, but it's very unwarranted to take it out on players personally.
Anyways, great interview. Definitely did not hold back and laid it out all there. Ricard was definitely a bit cocky/high confident, but he had the game chops to back it all up. Would be nice to see him play again in a future season.

Amazing person, amazing player, and an amazing interview! After episode 1 I regretted choosing Deshawn as my winner pick over my 2nd choice, Ricard (although at least I didn’t pick my 3rd choice JD). The edit made it hard to read where he was at in the game at various points, but in every confessional he was extremely articulate about the game or his personal life and it just made me feel something. That’s what makes him such a great character on top of his phenomenal game on a stacked cast for a newbie season. I can’t wait to see him come back, if production doesn’t invite him then they’re doing something wrong.

It was beyond asinine for Ricard to have that moment, considering that throughout the rest of the show him and many of the other players continuously use the word "guys" in various contexts. Hypocrisy at its finest, and you should have called him out on it. Ricard brought unnecessary politics into the show and has taken away an iconic line from the fans. @meesh11p 2 роки тому +1

@Mr Meme There is a difference between people pressuring a show into being more inclusive and people advocating the word "guy" be banned from all language. It is disingenuous to boil down Ricard's argument to "people should never use the word guy ever again". He never said that. He wants the show to be as welcoming as possible to all. When people get to know eachother interpersonally you figure out what they want to be called. If someone approves of "guy" or not you will figure out through talking one-on-one with them. Survivor is a TV show, not a singular person. 41 isn't one of my favorites either because of the twists though.
Also asserting that ratings dropped because black people talked about racism is odd. Social commentary has always been in shows, especially like Survivor. There's no evidence to support this is the case. I could argue that the viewership went down because of the awful twists and format, but I wouldn't do that because I have no evidence of that. And I agree, I like Ricard too. Thanks for the civil response.
