List of things that will help: - Raise the grabber - Lower the pivot (saw is currently raising it) - Add guides If you want to fix them all at once: Make the entire feeding assembly stand up to 90 degrees with pistons and add a clamp to it's top. Then just have it pulling on the tree while it saws the base.
Scrapman if I were you, i would extend the grabbing mechanism for the tree up, and at the top have a piston attached to net blocks pushing on the tree, so once you cut it, that 1 second of collision will have effect, and push the tree towards the end of the conveyor belt. If you are worried about it breaking the build on the fall, you can add lots of suspension. If the tree falls to the side, you can make a sort of cage with no top, and back. This is just if I was you.
Instead of pulling the tree using pistons, use bearings to tilt the tree. 19:10 Also, loving that your bringing all my tree logger ideas to life with this concept. I super approve.
Scrapman you should’ve used two arms with saw blade hands . Make them go up and down, out and in . So when the saw blades cut the tree down on to ur vehicle, have a pusher push it away, and then make sure the saw blades can go from flat to 180 degrees down like a chopping move . And then put two refineries on the back and 3 collectors infront of the refineries. Hopefully u will read my comment and u might understand. Thank you Scrapman and enjoy the rest of your day!👍 Also anyone who’s reading this:Thanks!
19:34 that's not how this is supposed to work at all Well scrapman, that's why it happened, anything that you build does the exact opposite of what it's meant to and somehow works
Instead of pulling the bottom of the tree, could you apply outward pressure on the base to have the tree flip into the feed bed. As they all seemed to go pretty much complete opposite when pressed from the bottom. Also make some extended guide rails along the length to catch the trees. And also for portability and storage make the extended catch (section without tires) fold into the machine so it's more compact. Great videos, I always love to watch them. Keep up the big brain experiments!
For the tree grabbing thing I think that in order to make it work you should put two different bars: the one on the bottom pushing and the one on the top pulling the tree. Please like to make him read :)
28:54 “Witch one of you is hank?” This is like that scene in detroid become human where theres 1 fake Connor and one real ,and hank gotta shoot one to save the real but its with hank instead lmao
Make the long-tree-catching extension foldable, so it doesn't take up so much space. Also, make the whole assembly tilt-up 90° and grab the tree before you cut it down. And add a third saw below the front of the assembly to cut the trees' stumps. That way, you won't be leaving the uncut stumps behind.
You can take blocks of your base in the way that you did your drawbridge it's a nice design and also you will get a lot of wood back and also you have protections so it will be sturdy
I'd say, you connect the grabbers to the non-moving part of the frame and make only the bin tiltable. Then you tilt the bin up when sawing a tree. That way you can press the bottom of the tree into the bin with the grabbers and - perhaps when you also drive into it a bit while sawing - you can kinda 'ease' the trunk into the bin, instead of letting it fall the whole way from vertical to horizontal and hoping it lands properly?
Physics analysis: Fall: When cutting down a tree you should make the pivot point higher, the uncut tree starts higher. If you then apply force above that point the tree will fall in. If you want it to function on all slopes with any speed you want, you need to make the pushing point higher then center of the tree and lower then it's hight. I wouldn't recommend 2 pushing points because only the lower one will make any contact. Feed: Small parts of the tree can only be at the bottom, which means that wheels should be spaced out more upwards. How spaced out can they be? If wheels were stationary the requirement is that the tree has it's center closer to saws than the furthest contacting wheels are from them. Aka each gap is 2 times larger then the previous one. The problem is that wheels also apply torque when pushing the tree down, so the gaps should be a bit smaller in reality, but they will still escalate exponentially. Cut: Sawblades spinning down are good because the tree parts are not going to just roll over them, but bad because they may tip the tree back upright. I would recommend them spinning up (at the point of contact), but put a small ceiling to prevent tree parts from rolling over.
In edition: why did it go forward. When you lift it up the front end isn't exactly prevented from moving forward, you would definitely be better off making it a bearing: O:object B:bearing P:piston OOOOOOOOB O P BOOOOOOOB If you don't want it, you could also make a stopper in front, so your collectors can't move forward. I believe normally fiction prevents them from doing that, but it seems friction isn't always enough.
I've got a logger idea that is really hard to fail: Have a vehicle that first chops down a bunch of trees, then weld them to a wall all in a line (wall on your vehicle?) Then have some pistons push a wall of sawblades from the side, destroying the trees one by one. Even if some trees are too big, you can just weld them back. Underneath the trees, you can have a conveyor to collect all the wood in the resource collectors.
Things that might fix your tree chopping vehicles thingy: Problem:the grab-er, the conveyor length, and the saws. Theoretical solution: Grab-er: instead of pushing it inwards, tilt it instead while raising it Upwards a bit Conveyor: instead of puting all the wheels next to each other, put a space at the back ones instead, im thinking about 2-3 blocks since only the wewds that are getting chopped are the front ones but the back wont be chopped. The saws: I think you Al ready know the answer to is sooo ill leave that hanging
My current logging vehicle is very simple, just cut the tree and then drive above the fallen tree, feeding the sawblade at the end of the vehicle using conveyor (wheels). It looks like the vehicle is swallowing the log, eating it slowly. I might try to fit a refining bot to the vehicle like what you did so I don't have to go back and forth from the homebase and waiting for the bot finish refining the log. Anyway, awesome vehicle and great video, hopefully you can improve it further
But why launch them in the water? It negates fall damage It would launch them at the back of his base where he has no traps They can swim out of the water
My favorite series today & it's my birthday! I am a happy camper. Also, what about a saw at the back that comes out and cuts by the stump. Then you could just be downhill from the tree, use that saw, and then have it feed into the conveyor.
Hey Scrapman, make a little pushing system on the bottom of the car to act like a rivers undertow where the bottom of the tree is pushed out and the top's pulled in, that might work!
Scrapman, you should place a chest at the top of your castle that has spuds in it so that you don't have to keep rushing to your farm in the middle of a raid.
@ScrapMan Refinery can easily take logs from collectors over some distance. Basically you can put one collector right next to refinery bot and another collector next to first one and refinery bot will easily pull from both. I haven't tried if it would get anything from third but that's not crucial anyway. I made a miner which has mining heads in front, two collectors on both sides (four in total) one after another and a refinery bot on both sides right after the collectors. And then chests linked to refinery bot outputs for both sides and it works well. Grind the rocks down, as you drive over logs collectors take them and refinery bot has no problems pulling logs from one over collector distance. Can stay on field for days getting materials :)
Hi, i am one of your biggest italian fan. Today is my birthday, Can you wish me a happy birthday?. But even if you don't do that, i will enjoy your video on this very special day English +100😂
Suggestion for improvement: make the entire conveyor system stand up straight on the tree and have the grabber arms at a couple locations along it. Use the saws as they are now to cut the trunk and when it is detached, angle the whole conveyor back and let it cut up the tree. Hopefully useful to Scrapman and anyone else!
I really like blue flames idea about just pivoting the whole thing to 90° then just tilting it back to refine. though i was also thinking, two vertical forward and back bearings, to 2 or 3 sets of pistons that can extend upward along the tree. You extend the pistons with a cross bar between every so often and it braces the tree from falling away, with side rails as well. then the bearings at the bottom tilt it on to the conveyor. You could add some blocks or pillars so the trees roll to center on the main vehicle. That was my idea for improving this method but .... Yeah could just tilt it XD
Hey ScrapMan! The issue that you have is, that you cut the tree not at its base, but a little too high, so the solid part of the tree (the uncut trunk) doesn't touch the end of the conveyor belt and falls in the wrong direction. Try to put a saw that cuts just the stump, so the your tree grabber can pivot it from the base of the conveyor belt and lead it in the right direction.
1. Tilt the slope/grabber/cutter thingie 90°. 2. Grab the tree. The (90° rotated) arms press it against the wheels. 3. Tilt back to ~45°. Your car should tilt towards the tree, lifting its rear. 4. The blades should now be at the roots and 90° to it. Cut. 5. Fall with the tree backwards on all 4 wheels. (Your lifted rear should now determine the falling direction.) 6. Proceed as used to.
from 23:59 on onwards for the next minute or so, you switch the button to prevent the collision... if I'm not mistaken, you have the bearings on a controller... why not make a loop with the bearings changing the angles automatically? ;) edit: and like others suggested (since it's a "work in progress") tilt the whole bed up 90° and then "clamp" it to the tree while cutting the base and then tilt it back down :)
You don't need to make it a car tho. You can make the sawing part a thing at your base and then you make a car that can bring the trees back to your base. Then it would maybe be a bit easier. I hope you try this out.
I made a car that is surrounded by saws - it gobbles trees in next to no time. The saws are vertical and sideways to each side, except for the back where I have them flat. 15 saws in total. It also destroys bots almost instantly.
If you put the saw blades on a bearing you could rotate them so that they cut straight at the base. Also, I think If you made it so the arms actually grabbed higher up the tree you'd be able to lower it in manually, instead of relying on gravity.
You can put bearings on outside to prevent tree stuck in saw blades. And you can put 1 or 2 more blade on top of those 2 blades so small cut peaces don't fall over. For tree to fall correctly you can try to build hands from both sides instead from front, and 2 piston that take it from side, then put bearing on hand, that pushes force 90 degree vertically, and when blades cut tree, it get inertia from that bearing and flip tree on tires, and impact hit should get rid of leaves.
Make that grabbing arm fully lock around the tree, then you can tip it back onto the conveyor. And the back part that holds the trees, you can do piston, cross section, piston. So you can bring it in while driving/not in use.
I think you are super close with the catching mechanism, you just need to make a few adjustments. My thoughts are if you have blocks that are on the backside high up on the tree, and you have blocks that are low on the front side of the tree, then you rotate them so you have a push/pull force that forces the tree to topple over into the log carrier. Imagine it like drinking soda out of a can, you don't bring the can directly to your mouth in a straight line. You instead clamp around it with your hand, rotate your wrist, and then enjoy the soda.
Big Brain idea: Put the mechanical arms (The arms that are meant to tilt the tree into position) on pistons so you can adjust the height depending if the type of tree it is. You might wanna use some other blocks to make it go up in 1 block, 2 blocks etc. and go down in 1 block, 2 blocks etc.
You should make the conveyer extention/catcher extendable using pistons; it gives the vehicle a smaller form factor, makes it adjustable and makes it overall look nicer.
Scrapman instead of having the sawblades droop down on bearings change out some of the wheels on the conveyor belt so then you dont have the collision issue with the logs or alternatively you could cut down trees then have a crane arm that picks up logs so that you can drop them into a conveyor belt refinery
I have discovered that "unpowered saw blade" glitch before too. The problem is that it not being powered, logs will bind the blade very easy when they are pressed against each other. It'll with if they're the perfect distance apart, but when pressed too close, the blade stops spinning
1.To solve the problem of the saws not colliding, angle them slightly inwards so the log touches the tip of the saw and not the side. 2. The cutting down saws should be lowered or the conveyor higher so the bottom of the tree when chopped is below the conveyor so it won't go above and you can push the tree back with the grabber
Use piston to adjust the height is of that tree grabbing thing and remove the bottom part because you need it to pull half or more of the tree height to make it fall on top of those tires. Hopefully this works
Maybe you should make a logging factory at your base and just make a vehicle to cut down the trunks and put them into a trailer which can be parked at the logging factory and then you can just leave it processing logs while you are doing other things.
I made a vertical lubermill which is hella satisfying to see, but bringing the trees was such a hassle it was faster and easier to just put sawblades on ground level and run slowly run into the tree
Maybe try to rotate down the grabber towards the cutter in addition to pulling it back? I would also add some short, perpendicular guides to it so the tree wouldn't fly to the sides. That's the theory at least.
I think you can fix your issue of the tree being pushed forward by simply adding in the horizontal cutting blades on the front... The horizontal blades would sever the tree, the arms would tilt it back and then you activate the vertical blades to dice it up... You should also reduce the blade overlaps so they aren't glitching into each other like that so much...
Adding more FRICTION blocks to the arms would "grab" better and prevent the trees from slipping off. The net has the least friction. Simple fix could be to add a bunch of cactus to the net or replace the net with something like diamond plate.
List of things that will help:
- Raise the grabber
- Lower the pivot (saw is currently raising it)
- Add guides
If you want to fix them all at once:
Make the entire feeding assembly stand up to 90 degrees with pistons and add a clamp to it's top. Then just have it pulling on the tree while it saws the base.
Also, make it better
🎩
This is what I was thinking. Have it stand upright, against the tree, chop bottom then tilt back
Honestly, just adding a sawblade to the bottom to properly cut the base would help immensely.

That takes a lot of fuel tho
@@jamestheoutdoorsman9594 yea but it would look cool.
jaz angeles how lmao
How do you get the hammer back lol
from 23:59 on onwards for the next minute or so, you switch the button to prevent the collision... if I'm not mistaken, you have the bearings on a controller... why not make a loop with the bearings changing the angles automatically? ;)
edit: and like others suggested (since it's a "work in progress") tilt the whole bed up 90° and then "clamp" it to the tree while cutting the base and then tilt it back down :)
For me he was 5 minutes late
Your lucky for me 4 hours
You don't need to make it a car tho. You can make the sawing part a thing at your base and then you make a car that can bring the trees back to your base.
Then it would maybe be a bit easier.
I hope you try this out.
When your so early AGAIN you cant figure out what to say.
Me: ... 😂😁
My notifications is 5 or 6 minutes late
*NOT FUNNY*
*DIDN’T LAUGH*
When you're so early the only thing you can say is these overused type of comments and not an actual comment or a good joke

Also, I think If you made it so the arms actually grabbed higher up the tree you'd be able to lower it in manually, instead of relying on gravity.
yay , experimental episodes , i love them
I love you’re survival video’s . Plz keep up the good work 😊.
29:40 I don't get paid enough for this
Logman is here to collect your wood.
Scrapman should make two of these a day
Scrapman, the logs don't need to be in a resource collector, they can just be picked up by the refinery itself
Use piston to adjust the height is of that tree grabbing thing and remove the bottom part because you need it to pull half or more of the tree height to
make it fall on top of those tires.
Hopefully this works
Oo, definitely testing that spin glitch out, might be able to make free powered defenses or frontal grinding blades
Maybe you should make a logging factory at your base and just make a vehicle to cut down the trunks and put them into a trailer which can be parked at the logging factory and then you can just leave it processing logs while you are doing other things.
you should put pistons at the bottom of the grabbers to make them taller for the bigger trees
I made a vertical lubermill which is hella satisfying to see, but bringing the trees was such a hassle it was faster and easier to just put sawblades on ground level and run slowly run into the tree
14:50 in the background those farmbots don't like that cow! HaHa
Its abusing it lol
Maybe try to rotate down the grabber towards the cutter in addition to pulling it back? I would also add some short, perpendicular guides to it so the tree wouldn't fly to the sides. That's the theory at least.
Nice the logging car eats the trees
If you make a sawmill type thing at your base you could use the weld tool to load a lot of trees back to the base
13:32 POV: your a tree being cut down by scrapman
Did anybody saw haybot chasing a cow? 14:48
Adding more FRICTION blocks to the arms would "grab" better and prevent the trees from slipping off. The net has the least friction. Simple fix could be to add a bunch of cactus to the net or replace the net with something like diamond plate.
