- This video is a thorough explication of the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram or LIRP and LBRP.
Besides breaking down segments of the exercise, the video also covers the purpose for doing the ritual daily, and makes references to several pieces of occult literature and content. Presented in this manner the ritual is derived from and reconciled with most books on the Golden Dawn system.
Originally, this video was published on Nov 20, 2020 on my other channel. Uploaded on this, it is re-edited and has a small discrepancy fixed. I’m exceedingly grateful to the viewer who pointed me the mistake and helped keeping my information maximally accurate. The reason for re-uploading is also the separation of my channels, and making one purely for topics like this...

@@POTB how come the lesser ritual of the hexagram does not use angels in the four directions like the pentagram ritual does?
@Burning Bush In my opinion, it's because whichever Golden Dawn member created the Hexagram ritual, wanted to create the rituals to reflect the Zodiac & Egyptian elements in it. After almost a year of practicing the Lesser Pentagram rituals, how come Christians don't utilize this ritual, since it has Judeo-Christian elements in it 🤔?? Lol

The frustrating thing about the LIRP/LBRP are the numerous inconsistencies even within the same system. For example, much of the golden Dawn literature doesn’t even mention using the sign of the enterer/sign of silence, and even when it does, you have inconsistencies where in some cases you are instructed to leave the right arm extended and put the left finger to the lips, in other cases drop the left arm and put the right index finger to the lips. I personally prefer the Aurum Solis version of drawing the pentagrams where one always starts at the element and either goes clockwise or counterclockwise depending on invoking or banishing. Under the golden Dawn for example, the banishing pentagram of air is identical to the invoking pentagram of water with the exception of the sign in the center. I understand the rationale for using the banishing earth pentagram during the LBRP for all four quadrants, I jus don’t agree with it. I mean no disrespect to the golden Dawn or anyone using the system, it just feels there are numerous intentional blinds in it from the very beginning with it’s pentagram rituals. Would love to hear your thoughts

I totally agree with what you say about the GD system.
The most popular book that advocates using the signs likely is DMK's Modern Magick. As long as I know, the Ciceros approved it, and some GD orders use it for their curriculum. On the contrary, the actual Middle Pillar book written by Regardie and edited by the Ciceros instructs to only stab the center as you vibrate the appropriate name. This is also the method implied in Donald Tyson's The Magician's workbook. Yet, there are no signs in both Regardie's The Golden Dawn and Cicero's Self Initiation Into The Golden Dawn.
About the drawing of the pentagrams, I have no issues with that. Based on tracing the same in each direction and using GIRP and SIRP, I feel they all do what they are supposed to. Putting Air in the East and Fire in the South, on the other hand, doesn't seem logical due to mismatching both the rectangle of Aristotel and 99 if not 100% of the Tablets of Union I saw. These sigils/diagrams order/organize the elements based on their qualities, whereas the GD method contradicts that.
As long as for the blinds, yes, there are many. In fact, I think that's precisely what Dion Fortune talks about at the beginning of Mystical Qabalah. Another book that addresses the issue is Jeff Rhoades' Practical Qabala; this one has the pentagram and hexagram formulas totally rearranged. It also explains that if done incorrectly, i.e., as presented in most GD books, the rites can mess you up, giving "nasty side effects." I believe this could be the case when using SIRP regularly.
Last but not least, I really don’t think GD’s obsession with banishing is a healthy thing to adopt, but that’s just me...
Would love to learn your opinion on that.

Really appreciate your reply!! I try to guard against the ego and being mislead by my own personal gnosis. That being said, I recall something Josephine McCarthy once said about “expect your B.S. meter to become finely tuned and trust your instincts.” I’m certainly not trying to dismiss over 100 years of tradition of the golden Dawn system..but for ME..something felt/feels off from the beginning…almost as if being misled. I practiced the LPR for 6 months, invoking in the morning/banishing at night..and felt NOTHING. I don’t mean a lack of belief, nor obsessing over results..I just felt nothing. When I used the Aurum Solis method of tracing the pentagrams, vibrating as I traced, putting fire in the East/Michael, earth in the south/Uriel, water West/Gabriel, Air North/Rafael…it felt like I got hit by a truck..night and day doesn’t do it justice. Makes me wonder what else is off in the GD system…sorry for such a long response, just frustrating. If something as simple as the LPR feels so off, how out of wack would other correspondences be in the GD system the further along I go?

I completely understand where you come from with what you say, and it somewhat resonates with me.
Nonetheless, I wouldn't say that the GD pentagrams do absolutely nothing. Have you ever tried using a fire, air, or water invoking pentagram in 4 directions? Also, have you ever tried SIRP daily for 2 or more weeks in a row? I wouldn't say that feels like "being hit by a truck." Yet, I believe it produces more "in the face" kind of effects.
Some books advocate that the GD rituals have cumulative effects, and I believe Damien Echols also says something similar in one of his. Yet I think 6 months is more than enough. I hope this is helpful and makes sense.
