So apparently Ellie is the main protagonist in this chapter. Joel will be following her? I love the idea of passing the torch.
MildManNerd I think Joel is in her mind as a coping mechanism, and he died a long time ago.
Oh jesus, I hope not or else the waterworks will be opened up at the end of that game.
MildManNerd What makes it a bit more suspicious is that Joel appears out of nowhere when coming for Ellie.
Another hint that he maybe living in Ellie's mind is that he has dark hair in this video, moreover suggests that he is young and not the version where he had grey hair pushing through his late 40's.
However, I am oblivious to the game just the same as you.
lol i hope they do the thing where Ellie is the main character and in the middle you get to play as Joel and end the game as Joel just like they did last game

I'm a grown man and I cry every time I watch this trailer or even think about the first. It just makes me think of MY daughter. The two hardest scenes for me where the opening and when Joel falls and is about to surely die.

Brandon Naughton no, he is just emotional. so am I. always was, but since I became a father, it intensified tremendously. you, on the other hand, are an idiot, as evidenced by your poor grammar.
One thing I feel is that Ellie's dying. She's got a deep-not so well healed scar(s) vertical and slant on the left side of her forehead and face. And way more essential to mention than that-she has a bite, scratch or scar that's not healing. I thought she was bleeding from her eyes but I believe now that's from her head. Either gobs of it from her taller adult yet slain victims or an injury that's probably been trying to heal for the longest but just will not. I definitely believe Joel's dead or at least dying and will be dead sometime during the game. But yeah--I believe Ellie may be infected with a different strand/more mutated form of the infection. Something's may not be immune to. But this is all from watching this trailer that is!

Ive probably played The Last of Us 30-40 times and will probably play it off and on for the rest of my life. Its that good of a game. Cant wait for part 2.

Everyone's theorizing he is dead and she is chasing the fireflies who came back to kill him for what he did...if you notice the corpse in front of her it looks like joel....the first one in the house looks like sams brother the one in the bathroom looks like tess and the corpse in front of her looks like joel with the boots but the color of the jacket and pants looks slightly different because the light from the window is directly on the corpse...

There's already a theory that says that Joel is dead. And only exist in her head (or flashbacks) that's why she's going to unleash total war against the ones that killed Joel (remainig Fireflies?)
i don't want to be truth at all. If they kill Joel or Tommy i'll be devastated but they already killed a "mayor" character in the first game (Sarah) so i guess we'll have to wait and see (and cry a lot)

I just heard an interesting theory. Joel is not actually standing there. Ellie is imagining him. She is possibly at one of the fireflies safe houses because we saw their symbol at the begining outside the house. She could be killing all the fireflies because they got their revenge on joel by killing him, now ellie is out to get her revenge. That would make sense as the why joel was walking in all late, after the fact. He also walked in the door that was surrounded by light which makes me think even more than he is not actually there.
That's my take, too.
My own theory is that the fireflies banded together, and found out exactly where "home" was. Either Tommy sold out Joel (their relationship was VERY tense), or they found that one safe area on their own, then proceeded to massacre the residents there in either a search for Ellie or just blind revenge against Joel. Because they had a place to go. A safe place. There has to be a reason why they're out there on their own again.
Exactly what i was thinking! I guess this is a scene in which Ellie says (she imagine Joel standing in front of her) farewell to him.

It is just a general set of ideas that has not yet been proven. Meaning no one is going to lose any sleep if it is not correct; it is just a prediction based off what was giving in the trailer.

Same reaction as you mom. Was at work when the trailer dropped and had to get away from my desk. Went to the break room to watch it, and was completely teary eyed. Had coworkers ask if I was ok, they did not realize I was just fine. The first game was a life changer.
I've watched this trailer so many times, and I got goosebumps every time. I've beat the first 12-times and I'm working on number 13 since the release of this trailer.

Damn, so cool to see a mom so excited about TLOU and the relationship between mother and son is really inspiring. Older generations are usually more conservative towards newer platforms that deliver stories with new perspectives so it's really fun to see.

Holy cow! That's your mom wtf!!! I'm just going to say your mom is beautiful.
This game is so special because its predecessor really put us into the dynamic of Joel. You fell in love with Ellie, their duo, and she essentially became 'yours' to the end of time. So when the game ends you can't help but feel like you've lost a loved one or something equivalent. The come back of Part II is riddled with excitement for obvious reasons and is pretty well timed. People craved more from the moment it ended.
While I've heard the theory that Joel is already dead (and actually my friend and I concluded the same theory after watching it the first time) I do hope he's around for at least part of the game. Robbing us of that loss would muddle the experience in my opinion (I mean they managed to make us sob over Sara and she lasted 10 minutes).
