- What's the difference between a moment and shear connection? In this tutorial I explain the difference between the two main steel bolted connection types, the moment connection, and the shear connection (also called the simple or pinned connection).

In the case of a shear connection, when a gusset plate is provided below the beam for bracing, will that gusset plate act like a haunch for the beam?
Many that is for this, I have immediately subscribed channel
nice and simple. thanks a lot.
Thank you very much. Great video. Can you maybe explain too a connection between a truss and a column? Kind regards
@3:57 Is the lever arm taken in between the first and bottom row of bolts or first row of bolts and bottom of haunch?
How do you design a splice connection for a beam and col ?
Hi Robin, thanks for the video. So if I was to add a second row of bolts to the shear connection, would it become a moment resisting connection as the two rows of bolts would resist moment about the centroid of the bolt pattern? Thanks.
Moment connection not as clear as shear one though, should have illustrated moment connection as end connection too
Do the bolts not provide a force couple to react against a moment? Or is this just so limited that it is considered a shear connection?
Correct. And the bolts are in a hole that is bigger than the bolt, so there is "play" in the connection.
@@RobindeJongh ahh I see! Thank you for responding. Expect more questions as I work through your videos haha
Shear connection clearer than moment connection.
cant watch this .. marker sound !!!!
