  • Nobody had a career like Arn Anderson. For more than three decades he has been the epitome of “old school.” Hear him as you’ve never heard him before every Tuesday at 6am Eastern as you gives you a peak behind the curtain for the first time ever. Each week Paul Bromwell will examine Arn’s days in the territories, becoming an Anderson, creating the Four Horsemen in the NWA, becoming a Hall of Famer, and being a producer behind the scenes for years for WWE proving “The Enforcer” has a story unlike anyone else. Known for his trademark Spinebuster and incredible “promos” in front of the camera, it’s his timing and wit that has kept “the boys” in stitches behind the scenes. Hear for yourself why ARN is the new “symbol of excellence” in professional wrestling podcasting exclusively on Westwood One Podcast Network, Tuesdays at 6am Eastern.

    I started watching wresting in 1985 when I was 8 years old. My best friend had a Starrcade '85 Betamax that we watched one night during a sleepover because we were bored. I was hooked from that point on and 1985-1990 NWA/WCW will always be my favorite era of all time. I loved WWF at that time as well so I remember vividly when Arn and Tully went over there in '89. I had very mixed feelings because to me they were just too perfect as Horsemen heels and I hated to see them go. Their feud with the Midnight Express to me is still the best tag team feud of all time. But at the same time I was excited to see them work with guys like Andre as a heel stable. Very vivid memories for me here. Thank for posting.

      Tully went to my church sometimes when I was a kid. He lived in Charlotte, NC around that time, and my town was about an hour and a half away, and he visited as part of his ministry. He became friends with one guy at our church that was one of the wealthiest people in the county who had his pilot's license and his own plane. That guy would fly out and pick him up for service sometimes.

    • @furnitureconsortium
      @furnitureconsortium Рік тому +2

      I'm sure Arn has a few stories to tell over the years on that subject and I hope he gets around to telling a few.
      There is one famous story that happened in the WWWF (Vince Sr.'s territory) back in the 1970s. There was a wrestler who kept stealing the occasional $20 bill here and $50 bill there from random wrestlers bags in the locker room while they were out wrestling their matches. Gorilla Monsoon had the foresight to dangle a carrot to see if the thief would take the bait. Monsoon left his clothes and wallet folded open in plain sight with a $100 bill flopped halfway out of the top of the wallet. Gorilla Monsoon had a friend in the banking industry who had a substance that you could brush onto currency to "mark" them so that if anybody handled the money, their fingers would have a colored appearance to them, like a maroon or purple-ish hue to them that you couldn't just wash off with regular water and soap.
      Anyway, Monsoon brushed this $100 bill with the banker's substance and left it flopped out of his wallet to tempt the crook. When Monsoon came back into the dressing room after wrestling his match, the $100 bill was missing. Monsoon clued in a few trusting people within the locker room of his plan including Bruno Sammartino. When the wrestler in question was prepping to go out for his match, his fingers were a dead giveaway as to what he did. Monsoon and Co. laid the beatdown of all beatdowns on this guy and dragged him into the showers and turned on all of the hot water spigots and left him in there to roast. Needless to say, not wanting a fatality on their hands, someone fetched him out of the showers and promptly threw him out of the venue and the guy was blackballed from ever working in the industry again in any territory.
