Squash pie?! Who would've thunk?! Squash is something that I enjoy eating, and I would've never thought of converting it into a pie, but it makes sense since pumpkin is used in pies, too. I grew up eating this ..lol even raw with ranch dressing, baked, in a quiche or scrambled with onions,butter, Green bell peppers, bacon and eggs topped with cheese. Then as featured as a pie n fried like green tomatoes. You name it we ate whether, its was my mother or my Grandmothers..

I just made this recipe, it was delicious! I did not have fresh nutmeg, nor ground nutmeg so I used ground Allspice. It was very good. Thank you so much. I have now jotted down the recipe so I can have it on hand for easy access. I am making it again.

@@vernjay2661 just because the idea or taste of a food combination doesn't work for you didn't mean it's has to be the same for everyone else. some foods go well with each other. some people could hate it some love it some examples are pineapples on pizza for some people best thing even and other would be like wtf is wrong with you pineapple on pizza worst thing ever. some people like mayo some ketchup on fries some even mix them together another pizza example is tuna on pizza . what about curry or spaghetti bolognese can't remember which one some when cooking add chocolate some people might laugh at you for even consider doing that and look at you like you are stupid or something but that apparently how it is made.
This recipe worked out great. I had to adjust the recipe because I had a bunch of squash, just enough filling for another smaller pie. The flavor is identical to a pumpkin pie. But there is a _hint_ of a nutty, squashy aftertaste. It what separates the squash pie from a pumpkin pie and I welcome this difference with open arms. Even so, you won’t even be able to notice this aftertaste after a few bites. With the amount of squash I used, I had to use 6 tbs of butter to cook the squash and it didn’t ruin the pie at all. I also sized up the other ingredients to compensate for the amount of squash I was using. Thank you for this recipe, I will 100% be using it again when I want a dessert from my squash. And to be honest, I like this pie more than the average pumpkin pie. It doesn’t leave that bitter taste and feeling in the stomach as most store bought pumpkin pies have around the holidays.

If you love squash and cornbread dressing, you have to try Southern squash dressing. If you do, cook the squash and onions in the microwave. There is so much moisture in squash, you don't want to add water. Drain it really well. Make it dryer than you think it should be. The squash will still add moisture. I make huge batches and freeze them. Great way to preserve squash for off season.
The sound is too low,i can't hear much of what is said!!! Never heard of pie but love squash casserole elderly friend of mine told me about few yes ago. Zucchini,yellow squash,chopped onion,butter,eggs,salt,pepper,& cream or condensed milk. So good!! Love your kitchen,it's beautiful!!
I love this but the eagle brand is I'm sure to high for my sugar could something else be used I have taken no sugar in over 2 weeks I live my sweets but it's not healthy I hope theres another way

My wife tried, several years ago, a pumpkin pie, but made it with Butter-Nut Squash. Absolutely the best......beat the normal pumpkin pie ten-fold!

Don't discard liquid use it in soup stock, save in freezer.

Use monkfruit sweetener use it as a sugar alternative..I use it and it's amazingly sweet and tasty no chemical weird taste like other sweeteners
If I were going to make it I would use evaporated milk and stevia in place of the sweetened condensed milk.
Without sugar you get a Quiche
