It was Lawler's Nubreed cd that turned me from my teen years of trance to a more 'serious' house music devotee. The first 15 mins of disc 1, it just got me hooked in that dark, sleazy tribal sound. At the the time I'd just started at Birmingham Uni and Lawler began running his Midweek Sessions night at Code, I went to all of them... he had support from the likes of King Unique, Danny Tenaglia, Sasha & Digweed... but his sets were the main event, he sometimes had a live percussion artist playing on tribal drums beside the DJ booth. Thanks for the video, like you I still collect CDs and that Nubreed mix is a pillar in my collection, a turning point for me.
That Nubreed mix of his really was a game changer for me too. I never got to see him at code but that sounded amazing... Tenaglia and Lawler on the same night... wow! Glad u liked the video man
