Absolutely love your guys' testing methodology and simulations. The visual spectrograph is also such a great way to present the numbers to viewers like me who are having a hard time making a decision. Really smart!! Btw, I'd love it if you guys could incorporate crying babies into your standard test audio :p I feel like I'm always encountering crying babies on flights lol. Much love to the babies and their parents, but I'd very much appreciate not having to hear them haha
You, sir, are doing the Lord's work! I recently lost the right earbud from a cheap pair of wireless ones whilst in a flight, and now I've decided to somewhat upgrade to earpieces that has ANC (but still fits the budget). Thanks to this, I'm now going through a rabbit hole to look for more reviews on the Anker Liberty 4 NC. This video has been a big help especially after seeing your methodology. I sincerely hope this channel blows up. Thanks a lot!
Thank you, that helped out a lot. I ended up buying the momentum 4s since I use an angle grinder a lot for work. So even if they're others that are "better" than those, it sounded like the momentum 4s lowered the high pitched noises the best.
Excellent .I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought the elite 10 gen 2 and JBL tour pro e have amazing anc. In very specific ranges they just dominate .one thing not mentioned though is the amount of white noise. The tour pro 3 have less white noise than the jabra
It's definitely something we're considering, but it's not something we can do at the moment. As the other responder to this comment astutely pointed out, it's not currently possible to do this over UA-cam since we can't control for variables like your output volume, the audio product you're listening with, etc. These are variables that can drastically affect your perception of a product's performance, and we strive to ensure that every product we test is represented in our content 100% faithfully. Wwe're always trying to find new and exciting ways to help you make the right buying decision, so stay tuned. Happy listening!
Jabra is the best!!! Ive had jabras for 7 years now snd they never disappoint! Sadly elote 10 gen 2 is the last they ever gonna make. I wish im a billionaire i would definitely buy their earbud division and continue making them-
Hope you guys can review the new Edifier Neodots, which seem to be a significant improvement over their previous earbuds with dual drivers and superior battery life.
why are the airpods so low on the list? their spectrogram readings look better than the earbuds that rank higher, and they even sound better in the test am i trippin?
They're ranked on noice reduction on the entire spectrum, not specifically to the noise in this test. Pretty weird choice imo, the airpods do seem supreme here
The rankings were determined by gross reduction of pink noise across a number of samples. The reason we showed the spectrograms here is that we wanted to be able to see what specifically was reduced in the real world and not test settings - essentially, letting people see for themselves what gets attenuated instead of having to just take our word for it. If your impressions differ from what our assessments were, remember that the grouping for all of these products is pretty darn tight! So it's unlikely that any are going to be Earth-shatteringly better or worse than the others. There's also a bit under 100Hz cut off with this particular visualization, so some of the shortfall is probably in that range. I'm hoping to get time to code our own spectrogram tool for future videos at some point in the coming months so it's easier to read/nothing's cut off.
^To add to what Chris is saying, all the earbuds included in this test are the best of the best ANC earbuds. At the end of the day, whether you pick our 12th place or 1st place pick from this list, you're getting some darn good ANC performance from those buds! Happy listening!
@@christhomas3560 I think you might mean white noise here, not pink noise, where energy decreases by 3 decibels (dB) per octave as frequency increases.
@soundguys. Great video! Just a friendly feedback. i think it would have been good to compare the “reference new york city ambient sound “ again each time you have a new earbud comparison to show the relative attenuation in sound compared to the loud subway sound.( also cut the anc sound clip in half to shorten the duration of the video). some people will probably manually rewind to the beginning (to see how much each bud attenuates the background noise)
The Jabra elite 10 gen 2s kept falling out of my ear when I was biking outside or chewing food in a cafe. Tried all ear tip sizes in the box and couldn’t fix the issue. Couldn’t even get those Comply foam tips either because of the triangle ear tip shape. wondering if it also happens to anyone else. Had to switch to the elite active 8 gen 2s and am loving them so far. Haven’t noticed any difference in anc between the two.
Had a similar problem with the Elite 85t and the Elite 3, both of which I returned. Now I stick with round nozzle earbuds (of which I have many) and find the Spinfit Omni XL works great for my oversized ear canals.
My left elite 10 gen 1 died on me. The move of telling us there would be an update that would add LE audio and then releasing a gen 2 with that feature instead also greatly disappointed me. Would not buy from them again 😅
Can you do this test using a clip with more talking? I noticed that no matter how much noise was blocked, you could still hear the quiet voice quite well, the exception being the apple ones. I'm specifically looking for noise cancelling for people talking/kids screaming, I get overwhelmed by sounds easily and it makes visiting my family difficult... I would get over ear earmuff hearing protection but my head is too sensitive... 😭
I turned on my volume very high and listened with my headphones. It is true that at the mid and low frequencies, the AirPods Pro beat most earbuds in the test, but in the high frequency range, you can hear a very loud hissing. For normal situations, the AirPods Pro would come out on top, but I returned mine because I often use ANC for airplane travel-where the noise can reach 80 dB(A) or higher. The hiss noise was VERY loud in certain airplanes. The high-pitch noise is much more annoying for me and most people when compared to pink and brown noise. The funny thing is, it's not that the AirPods Pro block out high-frequency noise very badly. It's just that they block out noise at lower frequencies extremely well. Thus, the high-frequency noise becomes much more pronounced than with other earbuds. You may already know how people use pink noise (or even brown noise) to mask white noise, which can make the overall sound less harsh and more soothing, even though the total amount of noise (the energy across all frequencies) might actually increase.
Presumably there were all tested with the latest firmware available Listening to those the Apple Airpods pro 2 sounded cleanest to me. The Bose Ultra I liked, Sennheiser I was surprised by. Did the Sony have the optimal passive seal? I'd have considered the Jabra Elite 10 gen 2, in part because of the case features. However, with Jabra discontinuing them the question about updates is an obvious thing to point out. The Sennheiser Momentum TW4 ANC improved enormously with the most recent firmware.

I am surprised by the Liberty 4 NC. And even better than liberty 4 pro? That was a surprise!

Sennheiser was second in terms of proper cancellation
Thank you, that helped out a lot. I ended up buying the momentum 4s since I use an angle grinder a lot for work. So even if they're others that are "better" than those, it sounded like the momentum 4s lowered the high pitched noises the best.

Can you make a comparison like this for sound quality?
Don’t think that would be possible because it depends on your speakers being good or not/ your earphones you’re listening to the video with being good

Are the jabra elite 10 gen 2 REALLY this AMAZING?

Bose ultra ❤

Ahh yeah that's frustrating. Performance don't mean a thing if you can't wear 'em! Glad you're liking the Elite Active 8 Gen 2, though

Seeing liberty 4 NC at the 4th place makes me happy
I think liberty 4 pro rank should be higher
From these samples the AirPods Pro 2's sound like it's the cleanest...
I knew it would be the Jabras. They seem to be really good alrounders

That's a good idea, actually; we'll have to do some recording but I'm sure we can figure something out
How do the Jabra Elite 10 Gen 1 compare to the Gen 2? Are they similar?
they're very similar. However the Elite 8 gen 2 is much better than the gen 1
How is the Sony WF-100000000BMWM5 ranked higher than the Apple Ear buds Pro, when clearly the Sony’s canceled less noise?

It's weird because #2 is super loud to my ears, the bass frequency is aggravating, and absent from others rated lower.
12th was better than 1st place, I'm confused.
Why would 12th be better than 1st
@chefgav1 I mean it's the most silent, even the graph is like totally dark. Must be my ears.
@@NegyedMisi how is a 81% reduction in loudness better than 85% ? They did make it clear I thought which was better
@chefgav1 Yeah, numbers speak for themselves but it looked different. Let me be sceptical.
Please make similar comparison for Headphones ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Coming soon!!!!
Presumably there were all tested with the latest firmware available
