    INDIAN COPYRIGHT ACT, 1957 CHAPTER I Preliminary (f)
    1.) "cinematograph film" means any work of visual recording on any medium produced through a process from which a moving image may be produced by any means and includes a sound recording accompanying such visual recording and cinematograph shall be construed as including any work produced by any process analogous to cinematography including video films.”

    Ownership of Copyright and the Rights of the Owner
    17. First owner of copyright.
    2.) "-Subject to the provisions of this Act, the author of a work shall be the first owner of the copyright therein
    Provided that-
    (b) subject to the provisions of clause (a), in the case of a photograph taken, or a painting or portrait drawn, or an engraving or a cinematograph film made, for valuable consideration at the instance of any person, such person shall, in the absence of any agreement to the contrary, be the first owner of the copyright therein;"
    "CHAPTER V Term of Copyright 26.Term of copyright in cinematograph films.
    3.) "In the case of a cinematograph film, copyright shall subsist until sixty years from the beginning of the calendar year next following the year in which the film is published."
    My words:
    An Indian film (1) includes all audio and video elements. The "Work For Hire" clause (2) makes it clear that the work done by anyone hired by the producer(s) for the film (actors/actresses, scriptwriters, choreographers, music composers, lyricists, singers, etc.) belongs to the producer(s) and becomes a part of the film copyright. Film copyright in India (3) lasts for sixty years and any film and its songs released more than sixty years ago is in the public domain. No extensions, no renewals, no exceptions. This video is no longer protected by copyright.
