They came out too late, 2009 and 2010 at the very tail end of the Guitar Hero craze when Activision and Harmonix would both put out 10 new games every year. If they came out a few years earlier they’d get a lot more love and respect.
@@airzingis1169 Every rock/metal fans i've seen had an interest on playing guitar, people listening to this type of music doesn't have the same interest that's the biggest reason of it being not popular
Glad you guys enjoyed the custom lol Definitely check out more customs, the DJH community is full of super talented individuals! Also that Galvanize run was insane wtf 🤯
I'm a game developer myself and I found a large interest in rewriting this game kind of like Clone Hero but for DJ Hero. I own a PS3 turntable controller, but I lost the adapter for it so until I decide to buy one, this idea is shelved. I also have no idea if there's enough DJH players left in 2024 to see any value from it, and the custom scene would be questionable due to the small community. Regardless, I will be making DJHPC if I get my controller working on PC and if the idea gets enough love.
man i love the dj hero community so much. Still play this game almost daily. The fan made mixes are crazy, theres some really talented people over there with the abilities to make music and chart.
In high school drama club, we'd have a cast party after every show. Quite a few times, I got the opportunity to host, and one of those times someone saw DJ Hero 2 sitting on my shelf. "Hey Phez! Can we try this game out?" I was extremely excited, since I'd never gotten to show this game off to anyone, and it was one of my favorites at the time. However, that quickly faded when people started trying to play. Even on medium, no one could get a handle on it. And it wasn't like they were bad at rhythm games, either: we'd played Rock Band on expert plenty of times. Eventually I was asked if I could show them how it's done, which I did! I went to one of the last tier songs and I aced it. But the damage was already done. "That was cool, but we don't really want to just sit here watching you play." I think that's emblematic of DJ Hero's biggest problems. Unintuitive controls and limited multiplayer options keep THE DJING GAME from being good at parties. It's a real shame.
Im still shocked that people havent ripped and reuploaded these mixes somewhere, or even recreations or something. At least couldnt find anything last I checked.
I've got a playlist from a while back that has a lot of DJ Hero 1 tracks. A handful of them have been copystriken over the years, but still. They're all straight from the source.
I still love this game. It’s tacky, but that’s the charm. Edit: HOLY SHIT, WHY DID THIS COMMENT DO BANGER NUMBERS? ALSO, THE BROWN MAN HEARTED IT BUT DUE TO ME EDITING IT, IT DISAPPEARED. I WON… BUT AT WHAT COST
Damn dude your gonna get good at this quick, scratching is definitely going to be an adjustment but over these past streams your already getting better and better
@@Callieforniiaa i know its a bit too late, but there are tutorials to add customs on wii and ps3 emulators. I used the wii tutorial to add custom songs to my xbox with RGH, it's the same process
This is one of those games that I WISH I could be good at. The problem is it's so complex once you get into it that my brain just can't wrap itself around it no matter what I do. It's a shame cause it looks so satisfying to play on high difficulties and get right. I have both games for Wii and the turntable but I'm not very good, and I don't think I ever will be. I do still love this franchise though. It's super special and unique. I wish it had sold well and kept going. 😔
I always loved the DJ hero series. Was really happy that it wasn't one of those rhythm games where it baby'd the audience. It really made you learn the mechanics and put your skills to the test when it wanted to. Admittedly sometimes it was at the expense of the mix actually sounding good at times but quite a few really held up being difficult and being fun to casually listen to. I unfortunately never got to enjoy the game later on because of the move to an HD TV and calibrating this game was a nightmare that I could never nail down so things always felt very unresponsive. On a CRT though it was A1.
6:19 pretty sure the sample there is from Daft Punk's "Short Circuit" 6:33 this beat juggle section reminds me of something Justice would play in a live set! Especially the triplets lol so fucking sick
People always get scared that this will be applied to robots, like "oh no! we're ever closer to sentient ai robots from the movies!" No. Unless the ai is capable of changing its own functions, there will never be sentience, just the highest form of imitation.
I was always interested in this game back in the day. But I never got to play it and promptly forgot it existed so I never even got to see gameplay on it. So my first experience being watching you and one of my all-time favourite songs being a beat juggle in this made for a perfect first time viewing experience!

I'm not sure why, but DJ Hero was always harder than Guitar Hero. My best guess is because what you're actually doing with the music is more abstract than "hold down the button and strum."
