The legendary spectrum game, now on the Amiga. The first part is the original game and at 20:21 is the remake (named Manic Miner II) with enhanced graphics and an actual ending for those who ever wondered what happens with Willy after he exits the mines. -

I finally refaced my nightmare after 29 years. That monsters at the start that looks like it has a manhole coverfor head gave me a nightmare when I was about 5. I think Manic Miner II was probably one of the first Amiga games I played.
I'm proud of you for getting over your fear! By the way that's not a manhole cover on that monster, that's a mutant telephone.
@@sladkinable A ROTARY DIAL telephone to be precise
Does it irk anyone that the music isn't quite right? It's just one wrong note, but after the melody has been beaten into my brain from the ZX Spectrum version it's hard to ignore
This how the next-gen games will look like!
This music should be played at my funeral.
music is painfully addictive
The Amiga update looks nice and all, but it's just one of those games that is better on 8 Bit.
Never understood that wrong note in the music. Same as the C64 version iirc.
It's the jumping sound I find a bit annoying.
uberdude25 *WEEWOO* WEEWOO weewoo!
WHO LET LUIGI INTO THE GAME?
I DON'T KNOW?!
What happens if you play it again, after the ending? Do you get the same end sequence?
Right if I hear one more Spectrum owner who says that their version (it's the original definitive version don't you know, Mathew Smith is a god, blah blah) I will swing for 'em.
Just let it go. Skip forward to 20:30 and just let it go.
MM was a very playable game on virtually all the formats (C64 for me) and the first game that I encountered with real sticking power but contrary what Speccy owners would have you believe the original wasn't THAT good, i.e. all other versions were crap.
That's true. Both versions were practically the same. But ZX Rectum owners have to try and cling to anything.
Nah, MM and Chuckie Egg were the originals and the Daddy's on the ZX Spectrum,....FACT! ;-D
LOL Manic Miner was my first game (Spectrum 48k)
I bought this for my Amiga when it came out and I was very disappointed with it. The Speccy port is great although some of the timings in the rooms are off. The remake however is dreadful. Awful tune (why didn't they do a spruced up version of Hall of the Mountain king?) and whilst the graphics are a step up I dont think they suit the game. I could however have forgiven the graphics had they not put such a tight time limit in the rooms. The air supply falls at a much faster rate than on the original making some screens near impossible. Even screen 1 is a challenge. I couldn;t get past it without an infinite air cheat.
Was a wasted opportunity and the remake of Jet Set Willy 2 didn't help matters either.
Could be worse. The Amiga version of _Chuckie Egg_ makes Amiga _Manic Miner_ look like a masterpiece.
is it true this is Amiga Game? Amiga games much much butter look :(
I use Amiga500 in 80's
OMG :(
They were for the original; all that’s different is that this version doesn’t have the ZX Spectrum’s ear rape music and SFX. The sequel, on the other hand, has everything redone to stand up to the Amiga’s vastly superior capabilities.
@@williamference9221 I always pressed K to kill the music when playing Manic Miner or Jet Set Willy :)
Original version was better. )))
they ruined it with this crap sequel for the amiga
A clear case of less is more. The sequel is horrible.
