- US Senator Marco Rubio introduced a bill in Congress on July 25 to further strengthen ties with India. Rubio proposed to treat India on par with its allies, like Japan, Israel, Korea, and NATO. I would call India a friend as an American but that doesn't mean I think India needs to be in NATO. I have questions about NATO myself. What really annoys me about NATO as an American is it seems like people only talk about it when America does something but when any other member nation does something no one says it is because of NATO.

Thank you Senator Marco Rubio for valuing India US relations. To cast away Indian apprehensions because of the dubious actions of the past, U.S. has to put a lot of effort to gain India's trust. Once you gain India's trust they will stand with you, come whaterver may. Look at how India withstands the international pressure to isolate Russia, it's old ally. An ally which stood with India during it's tough times. To build good relationship with India, it takes time. For them to trust you, you have to prove them you are trustable show support and treat them as equal. But Indians don't see that often from US. Many actions from US seems to Indians like, US is unnecessarily intervening in India's internal matters with prejudice.
You stood by the USSR at a time when our very existence was at stake. That shouldn't be forgotten by us. Should we have good relations with India? Of course. But as close as we have with say Israel, no, and we shouldn't have that close ties with Israel either. What happened to no entangling alliances.

India and US should be natural allies as we are both democracies and we share lot of common values and people to people ties. India was actually in a neutral camp with its non alignment policy from the time of its formation after freedom from British. Pakistan utilized india's neutrality stance and used this as an opportunity and jumped into supporting the US bandwagon. That triggered a series of events which did not age well in the matter of India US ties unfortunately. US started supporting Pakistan Militarily and Economically. This emboldened Pakistan to the extend that they even launched war against India and got US tactical support for it. This forced India to take support from the erstwhile Soviet Union. This broke India's stance on Non Alignment. The continuous support of US to Pakistan, which has been engaged in a constant state of animosity towards India, has not gone well with Indians. However the US policy started changing more in favor of India than Pakistan lately which has now set a whole set of actions that is slowly bringing India and US closer. A positive step in the right direction. I am all for it and want the ties to improve even further. It's good for both countries and it's people. Both of us will gain a lot.

This is a misleading video title. The bill is about increasing ties and cooperation between the countries. It has nothing to do with alliance. India has firmly rejected any military alliance with any country. It should not be confused anyway.

This is a huge huge leap forward for India. The entire Pakistani economy has crashed and is on the verge of collapse . So is their society. If in these extremely catastrophic conditions India can become USA ally and implement sanctions on Pakistan and end IMF loans for Pakistan they will be able to literally checkmate Pakistan. Pakistan is overly dependant on us and European allies.
