Down side to rubber hose retainers is they are impossible to work with if you have rubber LP hoses on your regulators. Rubber sticks to rubber. Trying to stow a rubber hose or deploy a rubber hose when using rubber retainers is a massive pain in the butt, and far too much time is wasted when doing so. Honestly, this is the exact reason why 6mm or 8mm bungee (with a knotted tail) has always been popular. It's cheap, highly effective, works with any hose type (rubber or braided), and no, it doesn't slide around all "that" much. Only a little, which is fine.
