when i was kid i played all these. liked em more than FF. all my budies liked FF and so i had to convince them this was like FF but better because they are all the story ov Wren. the greatest robot you never heard ov.
Growing up, I was a Sega kid, and really jealous in secret of all the Final Fantasy on the SNES. But now as an adult, I'm really happy to have grown with Phantasy Star. Still like them more than FF to this day, if only for the amazing interconnected stories, that was really unique back in the days (Dragon Quest/Warrior did it in a way, but not to the level of Phantasy Star IMHO).
@@DracMazoku Dragon Quest got stuck in its owness. which was fine when it was the cutting edge for a series. Final Fantasy and Phatasy star had to stand out. and so they did. they always tried to one up themselves... at some point they each jumped the shark ruining it for my nostolgia but yeah... prefered Sega. we got the lufa series... corney but at the time it was a great story setting. what i hated about FF was you had to forget you played all the others. they where not continuations they where just adding to the battle system and throwing easter eggs. my buddy finally sat down in his 20s and played PSIII he loved wren. loved the generations... played through multiple times. we talked later and i said 'oh yeah. that happened in 2' and he freaked out. it was a video game sequal. like picking up your favorite movie that lasted 50+ hours. and finding out there where 4 more. shame god ov war is the only example ov that now... and that is anime over the topness focused on cgi and cutscene trickery :(
The game that got me into RPGs. My brother beat it, and I made it to the final phase multiple times but died the first time I tried to beat it. I planned on asking my brother to watch and help me out…but I finally managed to beat it before he was free to give me help. Good times 🙂
Yeah, the Silver Tusk adds holy type damage to Rika's attacks, regardless of what other weapons are equipped, which does all sorts of good things. Plus it adds a small amount of +def you can't get anywhere else for her, so it's a survivability win too. Honestly, the Gyenoclaw from the Air Castle might still be a mild upgrade to the Guard Claw, because while it lacks the raw attack stat, having the darkness damage type added in means you're walking around a lot of resistances, and have a small chance for the damage to not even matter. But against the PD, the Guard Claw + Silver Tusk is the way to go.
I still remember the exact moment when I bought the game... and I remember trying to max the level of my party then a bug occurred, all character skills got to 0/0 but hp and mp raised to max instatly, happened around level 80/90
ALMOST LV99 :). Thanks to the bug, I cannot reach it without glitching all my characters. At least not on the Sega Genesis Classics. There is some version of the game that have a fix for it though. Basically, all the versions made by M2, you can reach LV99 without problem. So we're talking stuff like Phantasy Star Complete Collection for the Japanese PS2, or the Wii Virtual Console version if you still have access to it. I know I've reached LV99 on Wii back in 2009 without any problem.
This is savage, Didn't you have in your equipment the silver tusk given by Myau? It being a holy weapon it would have boosted Rika's damage by 30% (maybe 50) against "dark" (despite being less of a weapon in the stats) Also I understand there was no need for Saner as you were faster than the PD, just Rika could have benefited of a Shift for the fun. Finally, what did you do with the other characters? Are they still level 50? Maybe with Raja, since he has a holy attack with his Saint fire, that might have given you extra 100 damage for your 5th member. Anyway great and impressive work, I've also seen your work on the other games. Great work :)
@@stefanswiss3760 Im always torn on that choice, but I always end up with 2 Guardian Claw for the better raw stats and more complete status screen. But yes, with more Shifta, Silver Tusk and Raja as a fifth member, I could have ended that even faster, that's for sure :)
@@stefanswiss3760 Pretty much, there's unfortunately no shortcut here , unlike Phantasy Star Complete Collection on PS2. Though, reaching LV cap in PSIV is a piece of cake compared to PSII and PSIII.
It would work even better with Macros, since for them to work, each techniques need to be used in succession, and with Macros, you can decide the order your characters will use their move :)
works anyway but with macro u are sure you'll do combos but you have to be faster then the enemy or he'll can interrupt combos, play first the most slow character in the macro so he will attack after the enemy... the rest will be combo 100%
U should use silver tusk + guard claw on rika, silver tusk gives and HUGE bonus damage against dark enemies, and it's Better to use rika's shift on Chaz first turn and on itself second turn. With silver tusk and Swift, rika's double Slash does about 550 damage.

Shiren and Fouren are different characters, but both cool!

@@DracMazokuThank you for sharing your gameplay footage! 🙂
I was on the edge of my seat when I played the final form for the first time. Was on a huge CRT TV lol. Amazing….
Final form is like hell ya when the music starts
The music during the final version of the last boss is among the best video game music ever!
It really does sound very alien and incomprehensible!
I don't remember profound darkness having that much hp. That thing is a tank
I remember maxing out on this game when I had sega channel and being like why…….
It was fixed only on a handful of ports, PS2 Complete Collection and Wii VC being two of them.
As a kid this would of given me nightmares
Back in n the day I had all characters at lvl 99
Might i suggest always having the silver tusk equipped? I do around 400dmg with rika with that equipped

So, do the combos only work with the command only and not the macros? I started playing this again and haven't used them much.
