Filters are seen as a fun little side bonus, but they are in no way, shape, or form a major selling point. We're talking about re-creating whats essentially artifacts from shitty screens we dealt with 20 years ago because there was no other choice. Its nostalgic, yes. But cmon now.

@@YellowElevator815 No, that’s not the case at all. Those filters preserve the look, the colors, and the textures of the games as they were meant to be seen.

Just because games were developed to be played on shitty 2.5 inch screen with backlight bleed, doesnt mean thats how its 'supposed' to be. How on earth would you know what they intended, unless you were there in the room during development? Even if we disagree, can you at least acknowledge that this desire comes from nostalgia? Its not some dirty word, its perfectly valid

You said it: they “were developed to be played on shitty 2.5 inch screen with backlight bleed.” That means that they are developed with the particular display in mind. Look at the color balance in the GBA games. Circle of the Moon’s color palette was the result of the dev kits being brighter than the actual hardware. Then, the following games were really saturated to compensate. This has been shared in interviews in the past. We don’t have to be there with the devs to know what the target hardware is anyway. I’m very happy to have these collections, and I’ll buy this one too, but the lack of filters means I’ll wait rather than buy it and play immediately. Usually, M2 have put in such incredible work to replicate the original experience. Look at the 3DS Sega Ages games with cabinet movement simulation. Look at the other Castlevania and Contra collection with filters. The omission of filters from the portable collections truly baffles me.

It's just a matter of lazy emulation.

Considering M2 made that game, that's a very valid observation, and has me (gasp!) actually excited to play HC for the first time in my life.

@@KasdenW1995 Totally! I cant believe how much effort M2 put into remaking a Castlevania game no one expected to, twice now. They're Gods in the gaming industry!

It seems not, it would have been cool to indeed have full screen with access to the second screen with a button press. On the plus side, I do love the fact that they managed to get the status screen available at all time, making it a 3 screen game now instead of 2 :)

Agreed it's very disappointing. I'm going to hold off on buying it for right now and hope that they patch in an option for single screen.

It's kind of impossible. Because you can't pause AND check the map and stats. It was always on 2 screens. One for game and menu and the other for the stats and map

@cal5860 It’s still a lot better than the original where the map/stats literally took up like 50% of the screen.

The original games on the DS weren't single screen, so why should it be on the switch?

I think it was not the game save per se, and more the fact that you had the GBA cart in the slot. And from what I can see, I dont get any bonus item at the start of the game (I do have the Advance Collection). I'm guessing no, but maybe there's a way to activate the bonus I dont know about...

I was thinking of also showing Pizza Tower, but this game has been out for so long on PC, everyone know by now how it looks. This collection is brand new everywhere :) But I was really happy for a Switch port of Pizza Tower! I mean, it's as close as we can get for now to a new WarioLand, so it's perfect on a Nintendo console.

Pizza tower is only bad in the mobile ad version that barrages you after every death. Something for everyone today

Yeah I'm kidding, and what a collection. Now we just need SoTN and Rondo on switch... Wow... Even the haunted castle remake is cool. Aaaand it's 3 am

@@youngthomasyorke4074 M2 put as much effort in that Haunted Castle remake as they did with Castlevania The Adventure ReBirth back then. But yeah, also bring back the Rondo + SotN Collection on Switch so we can have everything there, and put ReBirth as the weird bonus game (and maybe Legends, so we can play it without it being tied to NSO. Still can't believe they skipped that one in the Anniversary Collection, even if its not great. Just for completion sake).

@@MrVariant It was cool to play Compile take on action adventure game a la Zelda. It even has some schmup DNA has you can Swing your sword has much has you can mash the A button. Has such, playing at 0.5 speed give you even more of an edge as you can ger even more hit per second. Loved this on Master System, so was glad to try the MSX2 version.

@@DracMazoku I just looked it up, if Cosmic Fantasy Collection 2 is released in English, it's an instant purchase for me. I've always wanted to play the later installments.

@@DracMazoku It took long enough, I'm a PC Engine fan. Far East of Eden: Ziria was recently fan translated to English and the sequel is apparently being translated as well, another great RPG series.

They're already unlocked from the start. On the character select screen, just hold the L button. Some characters will then change to the secret ones (one column for SNK and one column for Capcom).

@@TheUndertaker25-2 I'm guessing they must not have changed much, so maybe L1? Try them all (L1, R1, L2, R2). Holding one of those buttons on the character select screen should do the trick. If not, they are really stupid to not make it universal across all consoles :(

@@JVeg199X i dont believe so. You need to grind to around LV11 just so you can cut mountain with your axe, which will take a lot of time. Its kinda funny to see how they turned this Famicon game into an arcade experience. The game clearly was not made for it, but still liked it!
