Got a late start on being able to watch this, but gems as always my man! I reach towards trap drums way too often out of habit. Learning when to try to implement other sounds and to get them to fit with the aesthetic you're going for while attempting to be unique and stand out is a God send!

I personally like to add hardcore trippy trap drums to some vibey oldschool sounding rhodes because it combines the two aesthetics and creates a whole new feeling, there is no "one aesthetic" you have to fit with your beat..
I mean, if an artists makes a request for a particular aesthetic, then understanding this concept is going to be important. I understand your point about creating for yourself/in a vacuum, but there are situations when this isn't going to be true as well.

well yeah, music is subjective, but he is teaching new people so the understand that trap drums doesnt fit to everything, if you switch a genre you switch how melody is and how drums are, most of the times

This would help us to get those sounds easier plus u can also get affilate link. Its a win win. If u like this idea i will accept my share in the profit 😂jk
As a trap producer from 2013 i can respect this, but only from a outsiders perspective. Trap drums should go with trap melodies, not those guitar shit and flute shit. cuz once u start doing trap drums with those kind of things, shit will eventually start going downhill one day or the other. Yes music is about exploration but some things just dont go with each other and definitely not with lofi melodies. Trap is always dark and hyped just know that, some times it will work smoothly like metro did with mask off but most of the times it doesnt. Trap drums only ruin beats that are not made with a trap beat approach. Trap music doent have a official house of guidance and theory, it was always youtube producers figuring things on their own and try to pass it of as a theory which will always work, no it doesnt man. Trap was always a underground underground production, but now all of a sudden everyone wants a piece of this music even tho they have no idea about the original trap sound, and ends up with melodies and drums that doesnt go with eachother saying trap drums ruins beats. This isnt a opinion by the way, its a fact thats not written in the books, you just gotta look and experience it yourself to know its a fact. This is goated I have this issue where I will make two separate versions of a pattern (like for example I'll make two slightly different hi hat patterns) and I wont be able to tell which i like more or which makes more sense and is better. Is there any way to help that?
Navie, I want to show you a lofi trap beat I've made! I made it with an upright bass and some techniques like the Alchemist tonal noise. I guess it was a good blend, more lofi-ish than the one in your trap-fi video :P

arent trap beats made at 140 BPM? I know about Halftime and Doubletime, but the internet always said make it at 140 bpm and let it sound like 70 bpm...

Im havin a problem cause when Im in process of makin I do it in single pattern at first, then after I think its done I split it then do placement the sound is really different. Of course I cant make it the same thru start and end so I try to balance the frequency but the sound is really different for me its not the same as what Im hearin it at first

May I ask, why are you using mainly midis instead of dropping wave files into Playlist?
