As per the Book of Ecclesiastes: There is a time and a place for everything IN season. Hamish DID have a one of a kind voice and left us with some memorable songs .... but there does come a time to lay it down. If this gig is just for personal enjoyment (Music IS the Queen of not just his soul but a KEY communicator of emotion for ALL) ...... GOOD for him.
There is a power MUCH greater than music, and my prayer for this writer and singer of this memorable can find peace in knowing that he contributed something WONDERFUL in its time and its place. ELK (USNA '68)

@@gusmartins1660 Adam Phillips does some tasty playing here. The other guitarist is Neil Hubbard, best know from Joe Cocker's Grease Band, Roxy Music (80s) and his time in Kokomo with Tony O'Malley. ua-cam.com/video/F5GnT9y7DL8/v-deo.html

I'm sorry, but I'm just going to remember him as the lead singer in AWB.
It's like watching a once great fighter whose time has come and gone, I kind of regret clicking on this.

I get what you mean. My dad got me into the Average White Band and I love their music so much. Promotes some great soul R&B tunes.

I disagree. I think you got to take it for what it is. He is still good. even being close to 80. Think about that. Think of it this way. Look how young the players are he is with. He's better then all of them. You can hear the other players getting lost in the song. But not him. And who knows how long they have been playing together. I'd say not long. Just don't write him off with this band. They may have gotten together that day.

I saw Hamish and his then band which included both Steve Ferrone and the late Molly Duncan at Ronnie Scott’s a few years ago and he was in fine voice. His falsetto now seems strained with the passage of time and the fact that he no longer performs regularly but he can be forgiven for that. I saw the other AWB recently and Alan Gorrie remains in fine voice too although they have a very good lead singer who does all of Hamish’s parts whilst Alan does the bass bits. Both bands are still brilliant.

Hamish is a busy man most of his time is in the States with Ringo he has been part of his band for 24 years now. Hence he does not get to play over here a lot now.
