    Congrats for a great channel, excellent format and content. My 7 yr old grandson loves it too.

      Thank you very much! Just be cautious around the little one as I do occasionally cuss in some videos.

      +offroaddreams4x4ed Nice! I'm really happy with the Keling parts so far, I just finished up the Z-axis (working on finishing up the video for this weekend). The 1200oz-in on the Z-axis can really move that sucker! Crazy speeds!

    Did you have to do anything special to get your pc to recognize the breakout board or was everything good to go once you installed the Mach 3 software?

      Joshua Stringam if I remember correctly it was fairly plug and play using the parallel port. Sorry I can't be of more help this was a couple years ago

    Great video. The best I have seen on the G0704.
    Do you know of anybody in Western Washington State that is converting a G0704.
    Thanks, Bill

      Bill Clifford thanks for the kind words Bill! I am over here on the east coast, so unfortunately I'm not aware of anyone out there doing a conversion. Maybe someone here in the comments section in Washington will find you

    thank you for your info , is your PC 32bit ? Artsoft says that mach 3 doesn't support 64bit systems, my issue is that i have a 64bit system and i have not a parallel port on my PC .any recommendations ?

    • @rustygear9370
      @rustygear9370 6 років тому

      There is no way to run MACH3 on a 64 bit system as it uses a 32 bit driver (never updated).
      As for absence of parallel port, you can always get yourself a mach3 usb controller, they are around 35$ on aliexpress.

    very pedagogic video you explain with very simple methods. I'd love to have the cost of these elements and if it is possible the circuit of wiring. Thanks again

    i bought my kit from automationtech an ive seen some kits have a usb an a parallel port but mine only has parallel port,...is that ok? Is that what you got?, my power supply for the breakout board is a metal box as well its not the house phone charger look either..? I just wana make sure i got the right stuff b 4 its to late to return it or get them to honor there sale

    • @ElementalMaker
      @ElementalMaker  7 років тому

      Mine also only has a parallel port. Just make sure you use an old PC with a parallel port, and you will be good to go!

    good video!, i have one question, does the breakout board need a separate power supply or is it powered by the computer?

    • @abdacnc3969
      @abdacnc3969 7 років тому

    What micro step settings are you using? I have the same setup but I am having erratic motor movement.

    • @ElementalMaker
      @ElementalMaker  8 років тому

      +Benjamin Usey I would have to go down into the shop to see my current settings, can't remember offhand. I know I am using pretty high micro-stepping, I think the second from highest setting. Are you using shielded cables? Non-shielded cables causing interference or a bad connection are the only things I could think of to cause erratic motor issues.

    • @benjaminusey382
      @benjaminusey382 8 років тому

      Yes, all shielded cables. Just disconnected all wires and re-wired everything. Checked power supplies with a meter. I'm baffled. Same choppy slow motor movement.

    • @ElementalMaker
      @ElementalMaker  8 років тому

      You wouldn't happen to have an oscilloscope would you? I'd be curious to see the waveforms coming from the drivers.

    • @benjaminusey382
      @benjaminusey382 8 років тому

      No, no o-scope. I'm going to order another C10 as I realized that estop does not work either.

    • @ElementalMaker
      @ElementalMaker  8 років тому

      +Benjamin Usey not a bad idea, definitely sounds like something may be bad on your breakout board
