  • If you want to help your little one learn to read, this easy preschool blending lesson is for you. In this video, you'll watch me coach a parent on teaching 2-sound word blending to their 4-year-old, and hopefully come away with something to use during your own learning time.
    I wrote the steps to test how well your child can blend on my blog post: They Know Their Letter Sounds: Here's Two Things To Do Next, check it out! www.toddlersread.com/blog/the...

    Thank you for so much detail. I homeschool my son and after he now has all of the letter sounds I felt lost on what steps to take to get him to blend them. He’s 3 and I am determined to get him to read this year. You make it seem even more doable.

    Thank you so much for the videos you share here! I watched most of your videos over the weekend and I was able to change my attitude (sitting close, positive tone, touch) and get my 5 year old to want to learn from me again. Now when the time is up she is asking to practice more! 😮

    Pulling out my white board.
    This makes sense.
    Father God, give me the patience. I have 4 littles. All at different levels. But it's beautiful to see them light up when they get it.

    I am so glad I stumbled on to your channel. My son is 4, and was having a terrible time blending sounds. After watching this video, we tried again with these techniques. It was like night and day. We did a second practice later in the day, and it went even smoother. Thank you sir.

      You're welcome! Way to go teaching your little one. The steps to teaching to read are the same and work for those who speak multiple languages. I always say that pronunciation doesn't have to be perfect, but I'm sharing a link here to my letter sound pronunciation video if it is helpful to you. ua-cam.com/video/vIN0HzzPWJY/v-deo.html

      Hey there! I hope he answers your question but I wanted to mention I was having this same problem with my 5 year old. She is a well behaved kid but since starting school she no longer enjoyed it when I would teach her. Last week I came across another video on his channel "The Secret to Helping ANY Child Follow Your Directions" 😲😲 That video was the game changer! Now my child sits still and pays attention and WANTS to practice with me! Hope it helps you 💛

      It is hard to know without seeing, and the following directions video could help for sure (linked it below). Here are other things to consider-
      1. How many skills are you focused on at once?
      2. Do you have a routine in place?
      3. Do you know exactly where her skill level is?
      My 30 minute training can help you think through some of the answers to those questions if you're interested- www.toddlersread.com/free-workshop

    My child has a distaste for learning (to an extent) and also she can be quick to be flustered by being corrected or guided to repeat tasks, etc. How do y'all amend this issue?

    • @tigerunicornpegases
      @tigerunicornpegases 10 місяців тому +1

      I’m no expert!! Maybe let her show “teach” you? Present the repetition part in a different way rather then just having her repeat herself. Maybe have her show a favorite toy what you’ve showed her?

    This is why homeschooling is so much better. Teachers with a room full of babies is fun but not very educational.
