You don't seem to ever use 3rd person view when flying. You can hit the V key to change view and then hold the Alt key to rotate and even zoom out your view so you can see where your ship is. Very helpful to get a bigger picture of what's going on. You can also use Alt in the cockpit to look around without getting out.

Part of the scenario and challenge is to be in 1st person view only. So no 3rd person view.

I would set bob grind only, then de pickd up and grind blocks that are not connected.. Then you can remove him again.
