I have been cleaning all my reels for 40+ years. I would like to add one bit of advice to help your newer viewers. When you talk about adding oil / grease or cleaning a specific part. Zoom in for a better view please. Keep up your good work and have a wonderful day.
This is a great video I’ve not seen in detail before. As a huge favor, could you do this same video with a spinner reel and not just a baitcaster? Would love to know how to care for both. Thanks!!
you probably dont care but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my gf recently :)
Hello. I am sort of confused right now. He mentionned that it isn't ideal to put oil on gears (only on bearings) and rather put grease on gears, but at the end of the video he puts oil on the worm gear. Am I miss understanding something? Any help is appreciated, thank you!
@@TeamOrdigamer I didn't add anything to the worm gear, but if you see it needs attention you need to grease it...not oil. What I put oil on at the end was the rod that the line guide runs on.
Would you suggest getting one of those cheap $25 reels from Wish to practice on if I wanted to learn taking the whole reel apart to clean? Another great video.
I usually put the grease on the worm gear. If you notice when you buy a reel there is already a good amount of grease on the worm gear. Well shimano reels at least. When it wears off I just put more on
Nice vid.. helpful... not sure if you had dip/chew in, but if so next time don’t use it while you are trying to explain things to someone ( I know because when I try to explain something I always have to spit my dip out to make sure they understand me)
I love your videos and you are my favorite UA-camr. My sister Ava and I have great opportunity to travel with school this summer to China. I wish I could say it was something specific that I can articulate and provide constructive criticism. I used to subscribe to you, then I un-subbed. I have no beef with you, I’m just an internet nobody.
Will be cleaning all my reels over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the tips!

TackleJunkie is the man !
Another good video Jim!
Those special swabs sound like a win.
worked like a charm, thanks!
TJ81 is the man as always. However, the music is about as irritating as it gets.
Great video! Very helpful!
Awesome video! Going to use this as a guide for my maintenance day before spring. Any maintenance you recommend for the rod it self?
U can use photography cleaning swabs too. May sell at bestbuy or another electronic store.
Do you have a link to order just the swabs? Thank you.

Put a drop of oil and each end of the worm gear where it meets the frame then add grease to the actual gear where the Pawl runs..
