Idk if it helps but there are ways to limit ingrown hairs! Using exfoliation on the area plucked or waxed takes off the top layer to skin cells preventing the hair from getting stuck. While it’s not fool proof I find the benefits out way the risks. No hair? Count me in!!

Generally if your hairs are not strong enough to find their way to the surface of the skin, there is some deficiency that is causing that, and an ingrown hair is simply the side effect.
Doesn't have to be a deficiency. Skin diseases can cause the same problem. For my disease in particular ingrown hairs effectively cause permanent damage making it harder for hair to grow back out, so it is litteraly making itself worse.
I have Trichotillomania. From when I was in kindergarten, I started pulling out my eyelashes/eyebrows/any short hairs. I didn't lose all of my hair there until I was in 5th grade. I didn't have eyelashes and eyebrows for years, mostly because I was afraid the hair would never grow back because I was told this information - so I kept plucking any hair that grew on my face. It was my freshman year in high school when my insecurity got so bad that I started to get fake nails to prevent the plucking - now I have a two full rows of eyelashes, and my eyebrows are grown back as well. Maybe there are some spots on my eyelids/eyebrows that won't be able to grow a hair back, but it's just a single hair. For my anxious people, even if you happen to damage a hair root and it won't grow back in that specific spot, you're not going to go bald. Hair usually grows back if you allow it to. The possibility of the hair not growing back at all isn't as big as you think it is, and even if it doesn't grow back in THAT SPECIFIC SPOT, I guarantee there will be hair growth very close to that spot if you give it time.
I have trich too, my eyebrows are sparse in some areas but the hair does grow back, they’re just not as bushy as they could be. I wish I didn’t pull out my eyebrows but I’ve gotten better, it used to be so bad I had none and big bald spots on my head. I still religiously wear a hat out of habit but the hair on my scalp did grow back.
My god I've been plucking for years! I still do it years later and it all started in elementary. All I can remember is being in my mom's room watching tv alone and I around first grade and at the time I was also chewing gum and being so young I out the gum on my entire eyebrow and peeled it off and it felt good for some reason and I'm now literally 23 and I still struggle with it.
And in some cases it by plucking hairs it can cause permanent damage to those areas. Basically plucking certain areas can cause a blood vessel to pop, which can leave a sort of internal scar that you can see. Say you pluck a nose hair and it pops a blood vessel. If this happens you’ll see a red mark which is the scar underneath the skin.
I can confirm, always get ingrown hairs from where I removed hair with tweezers. The solution I found is to dig the skin until you can grab the hair and pull its head out so that it can keep growing correctly. Removing it will just lead to a second ingrown hair, then a third, then a fourth, and so on
It’s not common for hair to grow out of a follicle if the entire bulb of the hair has been plucked out. The bulb is formed with the follicle, so when the bulb is plucked, the follicle typically just closes up. Ingrown hairs are caused by a hair being cut incorrectly, usually against the grain and close to the skin, allowing skin to catch onto and to easily grow over the short hair and intact bulb and cause an ingrown hair. If you develop a pimple from a pulled hair, it’s not because it’s ingrown, it’s because dirt or bacteria got into the follicle before it could close up. This is also why people get waxed, it plucks hundreds of hairs at once to reduce hair and prevent future hairs. When you see hairs growing in that area again, that’s typically not those original follicles growing hair again, your body just grew new follicles.
You can actually get ingrown hairs without plucking as well, I usually get them on my forearms where I tend to lean on things. Not sure why, but it’s definitely a trend
Ideally the end goal of those of us that might not want hair in certain places would be to have those follicles stop working entirely, I know I'd be pretty happy if basically every follicle of hair that isn't on my head where hair is supposed to be, just suddenly died, hell I'd be even happier if it where as simple as flipping a switch and diverting every single bit of energy the body uses on body and facial hair to making the hair on the head naturally thicker and fuller like what most of us have during our childhood years.

im plucking my beard hair for decades and i never had an ingrown hair. What i see is continous plucking hair will result of slowly damaging your follicle thus the hair is getting thinner but not a ingrown hair.
