Absolutely, fantastic tutorial. This is about the fourth video I looked for until they finally explained the reticle part and what I was after.Thank you very much great great video
Thanks for highlighting that resource on the Burris website. I did not know that was there and I have wasted a lot of time trying to manually calculate distances.
Problem with FFP is have fun trying to use those small increments on the reticle at low power. Reticle gets so small it’s counter productive. I personally use SFP only and pick half magnification and find my holds and then full. You’ll almost never need to do anything in between and makes it super easy to use
Your values change, but if you are looking at the holdover point at the correct magnification, you can get an idea where on the target you want to be. Then you can adjust your magnification, and just go for the same point on your target. So don't even use the dots after you adjust it, since you already found your hold point. I have a Nikon with the BDC reticle and it works essentially the same way.
I thought you did a great job of explaining how a FFP and SFP scope reticle works, going to the trouble of the drawing of the reticle with hash marks and showing with a FFP scope the hash marks distance zero remains the same at all magnification and SFP does not, that being said they both have their strengths and weaknesses
I have the same scope… it’s alright… but I find the small and fine reticle is not great in low light conditions. Also the glass is very distorted near the edges.
I use Burris E1 4.5-14x42 Long Range version 2ea.. I also have the Burris Fullfield Iv 3-12x56 (30mm) illuminated E3 reticle, hog hunting and low light. The low light capability is awesome in both versions, I use the E1s on AR-15s and a Ruger Ranch in 5.56mm. These Burris E-1 scopes set at "4.5 power" and the Parallax at "50 or infinity" yards, it can 1-focus on objects blurry @ 8 feet but recognizable and 2-@ 5-7 yards to infinity is clear. The parallax is not fine tuning really, it's more like 4 variable fixed ranges. I can set this scope using only 4.5 power and the internal reticle using 75gr 5.56 OTM and hit targets from 5-500 yards accurately. It's light weight, add in low light capability for $157.00, you can't beat it for hunting or AR-15 platforms. Tracking and the long range reticle are dead on. When dialing the dope in up to 500 yards, I will hit 1" gongs or swingers @ 500 yards with my Savage 110 TAC 6.5 CR, Ruger Ranch 5.56 and my 20-18" Wylde ARs. I absolutely believe they are the most versatile variable parallax SFP scopes with better than average glass for the money I ever owned for short and extended ranges. Incredible value & versatility. Cons: 1. Wish the E1s came in 30mm tubes 2. More MOA travel (90 MOA) would be nice, they are 40 MOA, mount with 1" high rings your good.
Great review my Friend thank you. I’m looking at that exact Optic now and would you happen to know the size of the Ocular end for a throw lever? I usually measure my Optics and order form there but I don’t have the E1 yet lol. The throw lever for me is paramount with my limited mobility is why I ask, thank you my friend stay safe. I have a question. If you sight in at let’s say 100 yards at full power or 12. Will that crosshair be on at 100 at 4 power or will that change as well as the drop marks?
you will still be on at 4x at 100 yrds -- but just as an example the next line down under the crosshair at 12x you are approx 229 yr but if you move to 4.5x it would be 364 yards -- use this link and you can set up whatever variables you want to try and see how the hold hash mark change in value at different powers. www.burrisoptics.com/ballistic-tools#main
for a cheap scope for get the windage 95 percent just look an shoot, make the cross hair thicker. Hire regular hunter not those high tek great white hunter that know all charts, make one China good scope not 50 so so.
This Burris is made in the Philippines not China. Even the cheapest Droptine lube are all made in the Philippines. Only Chinese Burris are the Fullfield 4s and Signature HDs and they are way better quality than the rest of the competition selling Chinese scopes under their own USA brand labels.

Thanks for watching!

Glad I could help!
Now I know ,why I missed some deer at long ranges, mega thanks ,great scopes for money
No problem 👍

Hopefully dual focal plane reticle scopes will change the quirks of FFP on low magnification.
