Him and Roberto were great friends almost like Real life Brothers. Manny in his prime was a great ⚾ player.like the fact that he went out to look for his friend Roberto Clemente in the ocean that speaks volumes to me a True Best friend 👍

Really enjoyed this. Did not know a lot about Manny Sanguillen. I knew he was a good catcher, but didn't know much more than that. I remember his place at PNC park when I was there several years ago. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome video Brent. He played every year with the pirates except that one year in '77 with Oakland.

JUST met him last night(Aug 20,2022) and He was in a wheelchair. He signed by 72 and 73 Topps cards and was very nice! I hope he lives for many more years! I have always admired this man! I’m a Marlin fan, but He is possibly my fav Pirate! He gets so little acknowledgment, but yet, Manny was a high average hitter and great def catcher! God Bless Manny Sanguillen!!!

Great episode. His 71 Topps card is one of my all time favorite base common cards. I always wanted to know what he was writing.

Amazing tribute to a genuine man! His story and the circumstances of him missing that flight are just a glimpse into God's plan vs our own plan. Fascinating. Thanks so much for sharing this :)

Well told video even though being an allstar still was underated notorious for being a bad ball hitter didn't know about being traded for tanner great info thanks for the video👍👍👍

Danny Murtaugh died unexpectedly and they needed a new manager quickly. I watched Manny get the game winning hit in game 2 of the 79 series. The A’s helped the Pirates win that series. We got Tanner, Manny and Phil Garner.

How awesome is that! Didn't know you got Garner with Manny and Tanner. Not too shabby!
      Appreciate ya watching John!

Rennie Stennett was a great second baseman but he blew his knee out. He ended up going to the Giants. Garner was a third baseman but the Pirates moved him to second.

@@StarHuddle77 Phil Garner was traded by Oakland Athletics with Tommy Helms and Chris Batton to Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Dave Giusti, Doc Medich, Doug Bair, Rick Langford, Tony Armas and Mitchell Page.

@@MrJmangini I know Manny was close to Stennett too since he was also Panamanian. Probably bittersweet for Sanguillen to see him go after coming back.

Always enjoy hearing about Manny and learned a few new things about him. The story of him missing the plane always reminds me of final destination

It always fascinates me to hear the great stories about this guy and how much he was loved, as my childhood interaction with him was horrible. It was the late 1980s and he was signing at a card show in my town. He never even lifted his head to acknowledge me and when I said "thank you," all I got back was a grumble. I was actually a nice kid. I don't get it to this day.

Saw him play against the Dodgers during the Lumber Company days. Call third strike and he rifled a shot down the third base line and caught the runner standing about a foot of the base! Never saw anything like that.

Manny Sanguillen was a bad ball hitter and hit for a high average. He could run pretty well for a catcher and was an outstanding defender. The man would get bowled over at the plate and come up smiling. The 70s had a few good catchers : Johnny Bench, Thurman Munson, Carton Fisk, Ted Simmons and some defensive standouts Jim Sundberg and Bob Boon but my favorite was Manny.
