The Sea Wolves.....one of my favourite films. Wish it was sold in Bluray.

Barbara Kellerman was terrific in it. A shame her career came to a halt by the mid-1980's. She had the grit to get a job at Sainsbury's in Bath. I think it was because she stuck to her guns and wasn't willing to take her clothes off. Veronica Carlson said that's what happened to her.

Totally agree with your review! Along with “The Wild Geese,” this is absolutely one of my favourite films. In both films, Roger Moore is more impressive than in his James Bond films. (And both benefit from the work of several Bond veterans, including John Glen and Maurice Binder.) Moore had said to some Indian officials, “I’m surprised you let us back in, considering what we did when we were here!”
In his memoir, Glen touched upon his work on this film. He said the editing helped enhance Gregory Peck’s role, since he was older and not an experienced action star. David Niven was in poor health; already showing signs of the ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) that would take him out a year later.
I wish the Sea Wolves had bumped off the film’s publicity staff, because of that dumb-ass, MAD Magazine-style poster, which makes a thrilling adventure seem like a slapstick comedy. The film was a flop in the US, due to legal issues over distribution between Lorimar and whomever else! I seized the limited opportunity to see it in a cinema - was I glad I did!
