Quick and Easy Acura Integra GSR Build

- We pick up an Integra GSR as a one owner 164k mile untouched gem. It needs some love to look pretty again and we are just the dudes to tackle this thing. The only issue is we were asked by A'PEXi to join them at the Honda Meet only 10 days from when we acquired the GSR. We better get crackin'!
Follow along with the quick build and the path we took to get this beautiful and once loved machine back on track and loved once again.

Damn it came out amazing. I have a 94 GSR that I’ve owned for 23 years and is still mostly stock. 387k miles with all original drivetrain, and I still rip VTEC in it weekly. It’s basically my rainy day car until I get space to give it a proper restoration, since my other car is a Miata that I leave in the garage when it rains.

265k miles on my 97 GSR. Totally stock aside from an aftermarket radio… if you guys have any OEM parts from this project you’d like to part ways with let me know

So nice to see one not kswapped. Crazy how we used to see dc2’s on the road all the time and now theres barely any.
The price had come down so much and so many of them were destroyed by people who had bad luck or had no business owning a cool car to begin with! And KSwaps are fine but not when there is a B18 under the hood.

This brought back memories. Back after graduating high school, my friend bought a red one used and put white TE37's on it. I always wanted to Japanese Integra front end swap one.
Heck yah. Red is the fastest color as you know.
I get nostalgic anytime I see a black DC2 Integra cause back in 2013 I remember going to my first import tuner meet and seeing this clean black on white WedsSport wheel with red recaro seats K20 swapped 98 Integra as an 11 yr old I was just thinking to myself this was the sickest car ever, after that I became obsessed with any old Honda also OEM/OEM+ is definitely the way to go for any late 80’s-early 2000’s Honda/Acura nowadays

Early ‘00s spec build! Intake, header, exhaust. Red Recaros, Momo steering wheel, harnesses with a harness bar, Pioneer head unit. Comptech is long gone but front/rear Swaybars are a game changer, or do the OEM JDM ITR rear bar.
PS… The Hybrid forum was the real info source… Which was around a little before H-T. :-)

Man, does this make me feel old! I remember these being brand new at the Honda dealership. The only imported version in Italy was the top one, the Type R, with the big wing at the back. They didn't sell many, but now they are just as sought after here as they are everywhere!
Most of us remember them new also. They have never lost their appeal and you're absolutely correct: even now they are just as sought after.
I'm not even into imports but that's badass. I love seeing them come back.

Great build! The APEXi WS3 is a fantastic exhaust system. A couple months ago I installed it on my GS-R sedan and couldn’t be happier.

That car is too clean and original to go crazy with mods. Maybe a front lip and fresh brakes if you didn't already do the brakes, then just drive it and enjoy it for what it is! Not many of those left that aren't modded and hacked to death. Just my 2 cents. Nice find!!
Thanks! We don't plan on going crazy with modifying this machine. James wants us to clean up the Blades and put some new tires on it to replace the TEs.

I took my 1996 Acura integra sedan GS-R to the Honda meet. There were so many cars. Mine was pretty far back. All of the cars were awesome!

This was an amazing video!!! i currently have a clean tittle matching VIN 32:46 2000 NHBP gsr that i drive everyday!!! i would love to do a restoration like this !!! maybe one day!!! I do need GSR BLADES 👀! just incase you need to free up some space !!! 😅
Right now we are saving the blades for the next potential owner. They'll get the blades (if they wish) and the TEs. We are happy to hear you still drive yours everyday! That's awesome!
Car turned out pretty good! I always liked the USDM Vinyl Interior you guys got with your cars. I still have my 99 Integra which is a RHD Ausdm car, burning red pearl with black velour confetti interior and GSR driveline.

@@JustDriven you guys would really want that interior? It's in very good condition but the front seats are slightly different from the USDM GSR, google VTI-R and note the differences. The head rests & centre console (LHD/RHD) are the main differences I can see. The door trims have velour inserts in them, but the speaker cloth is missing on one of them. I'm in Australia! Logistics? 😁
Yah, the logistics would kill the cost value on this trade, but we love your interior.
Its so pretty but I like the Idea of OEM plus so I guess some suede accents would look great, like suede headliner, LED bulbs, maybe a subtle kit idk just Ideas. Hope you guys enjoy the teg.

I had this exact car but a 95 in 1998. It was custom ordered in a Black Gold Metal Flake. Ice Man Cold Air Intake and K&N Air Filter. I loved that car and I still miss it. I would say New Air Intake set-up, larger diameter Intake manifold, total engine tear down and rebuild, with new cam lobes, new exhaust manifold for the new exhaust system, new sway bars in red anodized, new radiator and water pump, new clutch and short shifter. Maybe a Type-R gauge cluster and chip it? Any Type-R swaps like the fly-wheel and a new Car Stereo System and GPS.
How badly do you miss your 95? We live in California and most of the modifications you mentioned are restricted here. We love where your head is at though!
@JustDriven I miss it so much I am looking at my 401K to buy me a low miles 1995-2001. Maybe, just maybe, they get rid of New Scum? Things might change? I know we don't like it in Washington either. Just saying...

We see some 5 Spd CR-Vs from time to time. It would be a fun little thing to mess with.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this for your integra build, I recommend the Wilwood 4 piston brake calipers with the stainless steel brake lines all around, DC Sports headers and maybe a B&M short throw shifter plus some LED lighting
Not bad ideas at all. We love the Wilwood products.
ASR 24mm rear sway bar, change out to stronger rear trailing arm bushings, P1 or ITR front lip, PCI 3" side skirts. Solid rear strut bar, trunk brace, lightweight cage. S2 Cams, find some better header/intake manifold, or if going FI Run the LHT Intercooled supercharger. (I'm a turbo guy myself but in CA have to deal with what you can get by with.)
There are some good ideas in there. We are pretty united on not being fans of the PCI side skirts. Sorry. We are loving the complete build idea though!
@@JustDriven not for everyone, also like the 98+ OEM GSR/ITR optional side skirts. When going 15x8 I feel they make the car contour look better, for some reason. Great choice on the TE37SL's btw. I'm running a 225/45r15 front with a 205/50r15 rear, Hankook Ventus RS4/Falken Azenis and love the feel of the staggered setup. Also, I decided to try a Do luck floor bar in mine, noticeable difference. Also may want to look into the S2 Tuner series cams if you want something carb approved as opposed to the pro series.

We like your idea of the mag blues. We found a great deal on the bronze though. We don't mind leaving it just how it is though. We remember them new also. Crazy how it feels like just yesterday.
@JustDriven it's definitely beautiful and came out nice. The bronze does look fire, though. I remember back in high school, I wanted one bad, but I was a poor kid 😢 😆😆. There's a guy selling a 2000 white gsr in PA, one owner. Drove it off the showroom floor. The car is still mint condition, like new. Might have to convince the wife or just pull up to the house with it. She'll be mad for a second, but eff it, she'll be ight. 🤣🤣

It was your very own Ferrari. The Type S is fun but the love here at the shop is split between the Type R and the Type S.
Greetings from Ottawa, Ontario. I own a Milano red 1994 Integra GSR purchased new on June 2, 1994. Almost 30 years ago. It is stock except for an aftermarket catback exhaust replacement 5 years ago. The exhaust drones. I noticed your car's exhaust sounded decent under acceleration. What make is it? Are you planning on keeping or replacing the current exhaust on your Integra? I am looking for suggestions for a replacement that is closer to stock.

Living in Southern California we don't find much need for this modification.
I personally would leave it as oem as possible.
We debated even repairing the driver door dent. Just clean it up and put some new tires on the blades and go! But we can't help ourselves sometimes. We still have all the original parts so it can easily go back.

What is that doot pannel? I have never seen leather inserts that have that stitching and center oval section like that.
We believe the original owner had a dealer optioned interior.
Since you guys built the Supra and Charger from FnF, why not build more "Hero" Cars from different movies and video games? With this Acura NFS Underground comes to mind, theres many built, but not to the extent you guys do it, your attention to detail will make the ride pop way more.
Thank you for your comment. There are a few sides to this: we love recreating movie and television hero cars, but we also love just creating really amazing street and track cars. We try and weigh the pros and cons for each machine when they come into our possession. This Acura was so untouched we have a real difficult time "touching" it. We wanted to keep it as close to the life it led so you can read the story when you see it. Some of us here even didn't want the dents to get pulled. Everything was perfect the way it was.
not related but am curious - Vin Diesel posted a Fast 11 update and showed off the original Supra. is that Just Driven's?! it's hard to get from the angle but looks like the wheel fitment/gap looks better than Lieberman's original

We've been looking through GSR seats on Google for about an hour. The only thing we can think of is the dealer installed some leather covers? Or maybe the previous owner?
@@JustDriven I was thinking that. They're obviously DC seats, but the puffiness reminds me of the optional leather seats you could get in an em1 back in the day
I have a 93 or 94 dc2 integra restoring and trying to figure out one it was cause it does not have rear disk brakes but ppl said they all did have disks at rhe rear
Unless your car was a SOHC it would have 4 wheel disc brakes. Also, the 93 Integra was a different generation. If you find your car is a DOHC car and is truly a 94 DC2 and it has rear drum brakes...a previous owner swapped the rear end onto their Civic.

@@JustDriven LHT Performance in Tampa is now doing the JRSC Intercooler heat exchange manifold modification again. Not sure about JRSC carb legal for California guys (I had read it is and have heard people have passed smog). No issues on the east coast.

The Fast and Furious Integra could be a fun build but not with this machine.
Remove wing, 50% black tint on all windows and full windshield, paint valve cover black, Jackson Racing supercharger (ca smog oem)
Not bad ideas, except we have no need for tint that dark! We do love the idea of a supercharger though!

Good to see it, though honestly I'd put the original wheels back on, or white painted or machined/polished wheels for some contrast.
Shame the honda leather is so cheaply overstretched factory (Legend excepted), causing it to shrink as it ages & make the cheap PU/vinyl sides obvious.
Yah, they do look a bit cheap. The Type R Acura seats were so much nicer.

Sad to not see any preludes at the show, no love for hondas bastard anymore. I've owned a 90 Si since 93. Just getting it back on the road after 10 years parked. I haven't seen a 3 Gen on my Georgia roads in years
There was some Preludes there. We still see some out here but like you said, it's much more rare to see one.

An engine swap or mods made to the engine wouldn't make it not street legal. Swaps and mods are made on those cars all the time.
In good ole California they are not street legal.

@@JustDriven It'd be better to see more working being done (the body work, dent repairs, etc) instead of you just saying "we did this, this, and this".
We get that. It's tough sometimes from our new shop. The shop and the body shop are separated by about 11 miles. We have lots going on here at the shop and just as much going on at the body shop, paint shop, and our outsourced bodyshop. We do our best (with one videographer) to capture what we can. With so many builds going on it's more likely we can catch some of the work and explain what we did than spend a weekend filming all the work and VoiceOver the work.
