Honestly after watching this I feel even worse that he died now. The guy did his best, didn't put others down, always took criticism on the chin, fought bravely and never disrespected his superiors. He was a model Jedi and the Jedi Order is weaker for losing him.

It may not have been his choice. She was also left behind when retrieving Osha after the prison ship crash. But I do think he also consciously made that choice, too, since he took such personal responsibility for it. Maybe even relieved that he didn't have to bring her against someone he thought was dangerous a second time. I hope we get to see his padawan one more time, someone to remember Yord for the hero and genuinely good person he was.
If this weren't an 8 episode run, we'd get episodes around characters like Yord and Jecki, giving their deaths more gravity. In absence of that, we have Generation Tech, and for that I'm thankful.
@Darthdoodoo oooh wow, what an edgy kid you are. Good for you for pissing in someone's cereal bc of their genuine love of a story. You must be so proud.
People who are about to die show who they really are. Jecki is a brave person and Yord is a kind person who is willing to sacrifice himself for others. Also, Sol does care for Yord. When Yord was killed, Sol went on a rage frenzy.
Honestly Yords death was super surprising for a few reasons. First is that he was set up as a main character in the show so I was expecting him, Sol and Osha to survive the fight. Second is just the sheer brutality of his death. We don’t often see someone have their neck broken like that in Star Wars. Usually it’s with the force or something. It was genuinely shocking and gruesome. Honestly it’s a shame cause I did want to see more of him.
"An acolyte kills without a weapon" Yord is the only Jedi to be killed without a weapon so far in this show. Meaning, in some twisted way, he was the truest Jedi of them all.
This morning I unsubscribed from a UA-cam channel that posted a vid stating, “Anyone who supports any of Disney Star Wars is trash. Disney Star Wars is trash.” I immediately “Disliked” and unsubscribed. Generation Tech has by far become the best channel for analyzing Star Wars comprehensively without relying on toxic fandom clickbait tactics. Greatly enjoy this channel!
I discovered this channel yesterday and I really enjoy Allen’s approach. But I still find people like Critical Thinker and Nerdrotic to be entertaining. Balance is a good thing.
Yord and jekki seemed to have some character development. I hate the show but I did like them. I feel like I'm watching the walking dead how if you start to like a character they kill them.
I knew guys like Yord in the infantry. Very good, knowledgeable, disciplined garrison soldiers who handled their assignments without questions. Yet, while mostly competent, they were uninspired in the field. I was exactly the opposite. A very good, knowledgeable, inspired field soldier who achieved objectives and made suggestions. Yet, while mostly competent, a pain in the ass in garrison. They made rank while I avoided losing it. As we spent much more time in garrison, they were better adapted to the Army's structure and flourished, while I languished in boredom and beer. They managed in the field while I came alive. And both types of soldier are necessary. Kudos to Yord.
So a tangentially related thought, if you replaced the words I and Jecki with the Jedi Knight and the Padawan when your was stating his plan to question Kimeir do you think it would sound not only like Yord's plan was very by the book but quite literally out of a textbook or SOP manual?
Yord struck a cord with me and a lot of it was just about how he very clearly did everything he knew to do to be a good Jedi knight. He did what he was taught. How he was trained. He cared about the people of the galaxy, clearly. And that's what led to his death. He was a compassionate man who put others ahead of himself. He was a good Jedi knight, and in his death he was failed by the Jedi. Not himself.
Honnestly, i went in the video expecting and entertaining deconstruction of Yord. But not gonna lie, this introspection made me view the character in a complete new light and made me cry honnestly. Awesome job, can't see Yord the same anymore.
Gotta love Allen for this, heck I deep dive these things, but I'd have passed by yord for the next several times watching the series. I keep wondering if yord brought his Palawan to the forest that day.... cause if he did, he was following orders after having a small part of his soul torn when she was finished. But his 1 one goal was to save the citizen as he was told to, someone in over their head. That wasn't for his safety I don't think. It was all for oshas safety
Yord makes me think of Captain Holt. Someone who does everything by the book because he’s already at a disadvantage and can’t afford having to give his superiors any reason to have a problem with him. Whereas someone gifted like Anakin or Jake Peralta can afford to bend and break rules because they’re too valuable for the chain of command to get rid of
To add on to this, if you want a real world example of someone talented getting away with breaking rules, look up the paratrooper, Jake McNeise of the Filthy Thirteen. Guy broke every rule and even beat up MP’s and the Army still wouldn’t kick him out because he was just that good and they needed him

This has become one of my favorite Star Wars youtube channels ever since i found it The commentary you give is the type of stuff i like to hear, instead of the usual angry content that is everywhere nowadays
A lot of comments I've seen online about Yord had people write him off as an idiot, I didn't get that impression. I felt he was in over his head, especially given he was basically a newly minted Jedi Knight and therefore not as experienced as other, more seasoned Jedis. The fact he figured out how to use the helmet against its owner showed he was a lot smarter than a lot of people thought he was. He died defending the people he cared about, and I really wish he (and Jecki Lon) was still alive.
I would say all of them who went to the planet even Sol were over their heads. Only ones who overcame that was Yord and Jecki. Jecki almost beat "The Stranger" in one on one fight until he pulled a trick with slitting his lightsaber into two and slaying her. Yord using the helmet against "The Stranger" shows he had good battle sense but he underestimated his enemies physical fighting prowess and got his neck snapped. "The Stranger" is not a master clearly. No darkside master would be losing against a padawan and only winning by using before unseen trick.
I really, really appreciated this. As someone who sucks ass at most things I try until I put in years of work, I can empathize a lot with Yord, and all the other dreamers out there putting in the work while getting lapped by people who are naturally gifted. You can tell that Yord is still just trying as hard as he can to meet his standard of what he things a Jedi should be. He doesn't have any ego in it, just personal duty and honor, and I hugely respect that.
In that fight, I was laughing with malicious glee as Qimir cut down one jedi after another, knowing they were all just fodder. Then Yord died, and I had to pause and go "Oh... oh shit." And then Jecki. And I suddenly got how this show is going to go. It's not pulling punches, and Yord is the one that solidified that. He wasn't waving death flags around. I thought he would survive to the last episode, but no. I cared, and his death, like Jecki's, had meaning in the meaninglessness of it. A good man brought low by duty and a force no Jedi has been prepared for. Yord was a hero. And the real tragedy is... I don't think anyone will survive to remember that by the end of this. RIP Yord. You were a real one.
Yord was one of the best things about this show. The actor was really good. No problem with him mind reading that guy, Yord knew he was lying. Always look forward to your videos, Allen. I may not always agree with you, but I love hearing your opinions and takes. They’re fair and honest, and well thought out. That’s rare in the Star Wars discourse. (And we have similar senses of humor. Great Futurerama references, lol)
In my personal opinion Yord is an extremely weak character played by an actor who doesn’t even know the lore and thinks the Death Star was destroyed by anakin skywalker a joke just like this show
@@drewolson3873 Many actors aren't super deep in the fandom because they're usually too busy doing their job as an actor to get that fixated on someone else's job.
@@kennykim8000 Cute straw man -- it's always amusing when someone takes something as simple as "he doesn't know Star Wars" and uses it as a Hitler analogy.🙄
Yord's "Osha run!" line really stuck out to me. He was about to be killed and when his attacker is distracted instead of trying to slink away he's fully ready to bring attention back to himself if it means Osha can get away.
Your description of Yord's personality is hitting home with me so much it's shocking. I haven't watched the show yet, but u feel like i really should now.
I love the view out the back window. brings me back to Nar Shaddaa. I love Yord's yen for his job, he cares about his craft and he's proud of what he's accomplished without ego. It's a shame he got lost because I feel like the High Republic Jedi would have benefited from his attitude and perspective.
I have several close family and friends who are in the military, and are just like Yord. Exactly how you explained the hard work, dedication, and structure they needed. Because of this his death hit me hard.
u SEE, you are touching on the special moments of SW - the story within the stories. Although a piece of work may not translate into views or even be good content, you seem to reminds us that there is more to SW than lightsaber duels and Darth Vader. I will go back and watch this series from eps 1 again with a different mindset. THANK YOU for being the calm voice, with a flask of whiskey on your desk!
Yord's death hit me harder than Jeki's, you could see the fear in his eyes as he reluctantly followed Osha back to the fight. In the end he overcame his fear with a final act of bravery. *RIP Jedi Knight Yord*
im going to be honest. he might be always so serious and thats rough but i would have really liked to see him see what the jedi really are like and stay in the order to try and make it better from within ... an older wiser man
Watching this video makes me feel even sadder about his death because I relate to him a lot now. I go to culinary school and it's been very hard for me, but I feel like my struggle has never shook my passion and love for cooking. Additionally, a few of my peers have said I'm too by the books, which you described Yord as too.
Yord definitely wasn't incompetent. He may not have been the most naturally gifted, but he put in the work. He got where he was through diligence and focus, and I respect the hell out of who he was.
The "crayon" struggle is relatable. After many years of saying it the first way I'm always correcting myself or hesitating to pronounce it correctly. I'm gonna miss both Yord and Jecki a lot. I think the last time I liked any completely new Star Wars characters this much this quickly might've been when Din Djarin debuted.
This is why I love watching this channel. You're more open-minded about the show. You know your stuff, makes me wish I could afford to read all the books and comics so bad. I also really liked Yord. He just tried so hard. Though I don't think he was actually going to mind read that dude unless he had to. I felt like it was more of a "Hey I can do this...do you want me to go there?" because the guy stopped talking and you could tell he was worried. But it was the woman who answered.
I don't know why anyone would hate him. He is earnest, overly concerned with appearing professional and Jedi like, and obsessed with being a by the book Jedi because he doesn't have the natural talent and had to work his ass off to get where he is. He is also honest and honourable. He was a good guy that represented the inflexible hubris of the Jedi Order at their height but he had the potential to change and listen to others. Loved Jecki repeatedly putting him in his place but always felt bad for him because he was trying so hard and dedicating to being the perfect Jedi as he saw it. The way he went out compared to Jecki was the perfect representation of their comparative abilities and careers as Jedi. If we could keep one I'd choose Jecki but was very sad to see him go. He could have grown into what the Jedi order really needed. We need more Yords, maybe the Jedi's fate would have been different if he had lived and risen to a position of more influence.
I would not mind a prequel story that portrays Jackie and Yord when they where young competing for a place as padawan and or knight. When we have seen young Jedi (Like Ahsoka and Cal) we have mostly seen those talented and easy learning younglings who made quick work through the ranks but rarely those who struggle to even make the cut. I would also like to see younglings who dont make it into padawan and has to live theyre life as temple guards or simular unfancy work in the temples. J.
Dude, thank you so much for covering these characters in depth with your knowledge and added ideas. I was worried we wouldn't get any deep dives on Yord cause he's from the Acolyte and the internet decided we must hate it. Anyway, this was a breath of fresh air. Thanks, great analysis. I would add that I thought Jeckies death overshadowed Yord. I wish they’d split those deaths up and focus another 5 min on more character development, but regardless I’m a big fan of the episode, and the character of Yord.
What a lovely and fitting ulagey for that handsome, dumb, good man....R.I.P.....unless.....you don't think....???? I mean, if maul survived a halfing....(or 'halving', you say Elfish, I say elvish)
Very, very well said. I have a new appreciation for Jiord now. I wish more of us had the insight that you have. Jiord was comedic relief by the writers and ironically deserved to be treated better.
Damn, this actually made me a little bit teary-eyed. And can we talk about how brilliant Yord was using Qimir’s helmet against him to short circuit the red lightsaber? Ultimately leading to him getting his neck snapped, but that was bold and thinking outside the box!
Oh, now I am crying for Yord. I liked Yord. He was that by-the-book and bit of a dork Jedi. I also sensed that there was something beneath his demeanor. Thanks for putting it into words :) And just when you started to really like him, episode 5 comes along. I started to really like him in the scene, where he talked about the language he learned. Everyone learning Wookie and he decided to learn the language of the tracker. It felt like his one 'not out of the book' thing. Maybe it was something were no other youngling would have made fun of him, because if he's the only one studying it, he's the only one excelling in this lesson. I wish they were more episodes to get to know the character a little bit more, but I kind of feel like they did this on purpose. "You start to like this character? GoT is not the only show, that can hurt you!" More episodes building on characters like Yord, like you did, would have messed me up in the latest scenes^^
Yeah after watching this I have a new found respect for the character and greater sadness at his death. I kind of knew all the stuff you said but sort of mocked him for it as I didn't take the time to really think about what it took for him to become this character, what his life would have been like before we meet him. And that gave me a new found sadness at his death.
This commentary helped me better realize and understand why I liked Yord and connected with him so much. Tbh he's one of my favorite jedi so far in star wars.
Alan, great job at pointing out the amount of grace that Yord carried himself with! Until this video, I hadn't felt his death was anything other than particularly brutal. But now I feel a loss for the character that makes me sorry that the Star Wars Universe won't get to see him grow and become something more than a cool name for a fan club.
Way to go and make me have even more feelings and sadness now for the guy….Deserving tribute to someone we may have just written off without getting to know.
Imagine if they had put the fake apothecary on the ship like Yord wanted to, sure, maybe he and Jeaki might have died when they tried but maybe the other 6 or 7 Jedi and the Wookie Jedi might have not been killed.....
Jord space cop, " You are under arrest. " Qimir, " For what ? " Jord, " Running a very questionable Head Shop." Qimir, " What I have is perfectly legal in this sector of space. I can sell some to you for a really good price." Jord, " You been seen in 16 different star sectors in the past five months." Qimir, " Dude you need to get out more, those were rock music concerts, I have tickets Bro."
Yord was my favorite character. I related to him a lot. He wanted to belong and was very much in earnest. He did due diligence and follow-up. He was effectivelt the paladin character from Dungeons and Dragons Xenk Yendar. 🏆
1:45. I don’t think Yord actually did anything but put up his hand and made a gesture. The Captain just noticed it, stopped talking and froze, expecting something. While the other gave up the information Yord asked for. Such was the authority and reputation that the Jedi had back then, that all they had to do to get down to business, was raise their and look confident.
one of my favorite moments in the acolyte so far is when yord uses the cortosis helmet against qimir having just faced the use of the helmet in the heat of battle he was able to take in that detail and go for the helmet when he returned to the fight. it didnt work out for him in the end but that was quick thinking and could have made all the difference in taking the sith down if things had lighted up better
@@douglaskelley4486What do you mean? People are actually much more tame and nice face to face than on the internet 😂 The internet is so toxic, we all need a safe place here fr
@@douglaskelley4486yo like you haven’t seen the crazy shit the vocal die hard Star Wars fans have been saying amongst like, all Star Wars platforms. It’s rare to see fans like Generation Tech giving such fair and honest viewpoints, ofc they’re gonna find comfort in him bcus he doesn’t need to be overly negative and whiny to get his point across.
@jcr1842 Sadly, Star Wars fans have always been like this. For those of us who were at least teenagers when the prequels went to theatre we remember how they treated George, Hayden and the other actors of the prequels. They trashed the prequels the same way they trash Disney Star Wars. They only hype it up now because they hate Disney. I've been following Hayden's career since he was in the prequels and trust me these Star Wars fans have not had kind things to say about him until recently.
Yord's death hit me like a ton of bricks even if I kinda saw it coming. I liked him from the start, he was the embodiment of the Jedi order. I love how it only takes one line to describe his character: Yord is just... Yord. You were right in your other video. He was ready to stand up and defend innocent people. He just wasn't ready to look evil in the eye and kill. And that's how he went down. RIP Yord
Wow! That was a very interesting analysis of Yord. I did not like the character and was not sad to see him go, but I never saw him in the way that you described. Now, with your insight, I have a different perspective on Yord and far more empathy towards him. Thank you for taking the time to present Yord from your perspective. I am now feeling that the Jedi lost a good knight that day.
he might've made it to the circle at the end, a lot of it was luck and how proficient they were in form iii. He actually seems like someone who would've drilled the hell out of all the forms
I would disagree because he displayed great adaptability to the sith situation, being able to survey the sith's abilities and counter or utilise them, like when he used the helm to short out the lightsaber
With some luck I think he would have. He's a competent swordsman. He actually holds his own against Qimir unlike Jedi who were older and more experienced than him. He's got enough adaptability to realize what the helmet does and deploys it in a good way.
Yord is one of the most sincere characters in the Acolyte, similar to how sincere Mando is. They both truly believe and live their values, and are willing to sacrifice themselves for those they protect, if need be. Yord is definitely underated and his death hits hard.
Yep. Yord was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he was doing the right thing all the time. Somethimes slower ont he uptake, but he for example was the only one to notice OSHA stealing away in the temple and followed the suspect - which then meant that he could testify to her being blameless in a very suspicious situation.
Additional point: I'd also like to point out something I realized. "An acolyte kills without a weapon." Yord is the ONLY Jedi killed without a weapon so far. Meaning, in some twisted way, he was the truest Jedi of them all.
Alan. What a beautifully elaborated character tribute! Given the few episodes of content we have of Yord. Very good job. His death was the hardest, because he seemed genuinely humble and good hearted. It might not sound right to say but the way he is described here reminds me of a part of myself. For example when I am at work, if one of my colleagues asks me or even tells me to do something, I usually do, I might question if it is the best option or if they are sure, but I rarely get all ego hurt and proud like "that's not my job" or "you are not my boss" of it needs to be done I'll help out. We help out eachother. I go there and get paid to work eventually. All whilst keeping the best relationship possible with others. Not everyone will respect that, but my conscience is clear that I don't misstreat anyone. Sorry for going on this personal ramble, but that concept of 'ego death or detatchment' in exchange for peace or 'the right thing' is a very interesting one to me and almost never gets a positive outlook. Glad it did here.
I really appreciate your mentioning of your personal experiences in relation to the habits and deep dive into the character of Yord. I watch your videos not because I always agreed.with you, but because I really love how deeply you consider the subject.
I think you're right about Yord. He really reminds me of me - yes, I was very bright... in certain areas... And growing up autistic tends to lead someone to depend very strongly on externally imposed order (to the point that it is a diagnostic feature that is looked for), and to never fitting in. I really liked him.
Thank you for this awesome explanation and in-depth overview of Yord. I liked his character more than I thought I should for him just being a generic rule following Jedi at first glance. This explanation helps to explain why I liked him that I wouldn't have probably figured out on my own. Definitely more sad about Yord & Jecki dying than I would have been if Osha and Mae died.
Sometimes questioning everything just causes problems, sometime it doesn't... true wisdom is knowing when to question and when to shut up and just do things.
I LOVE the level of analytical detail and insight that goes into your videos. This video really made me empathize with Yord. Honestly when the show started I didn’t think I would like him. But he started growing on me and it was really a shock when they killed him. I’m glad though that even though the impact of the Sith entering his mind still weighed heavy on him he was able to pull himself together and pull off the move with Qimir’s helmet.
As you get older you hope you are getting wiser? Oh Mr Xie, you are the most wise and insightful of any UA-camr, Star Wars related or not. I thankyou again for the positive attitude and balance you bring to the subjects you speak on.
Hi. I just wanted to say thank you for all your thoughtfulness and hard work. For trying to keep the conversation open-minded and rational, and still giving Star Wars a chance when it has let many people down before. Just want you to know I appreciate this, and I look forward to your videos and analysis everyday.
Yord, Sol, Jekki, and Qimir are the reason I’m still watching the show, but now that two of them are gone it’s up to the other two to keep me interested
You made some excellent observations and made me look at Yord a little harder, however I still am not too upset with his passing. Where Jecki really did upset me. She might have been exceptional one day. She out fought all the other Jedi as a Padawan except master Soul. Yord did go out like a trooper and good solder and earned my respect in the last seconds of his life. Prior to that I just thought he was a goofball. Had he survived I would have gone through a door with him at anytime anywhere. Jecki however I could see myself following almost without question if she were a mature Jedi even if I were older than she. Yord I would never follow only support and have his back I would never take his orders.
Thank you for putting some respect on Yord's name, he was one of my favorite characters because he acted so much like a jedi would have and should have.

Honestly Yords death was super surprising for a few reasons. First is that he was set up as a main character in the show so I was expecting him, Sol and Osha to survive the fight. @@GenerationTechdont lie you felt a rush of pleasure seeing his annoying ass get wrecked 😂😂it was the best part of the entire show so far 😂😂😂
Kudos to Yord.
together we're always stronger
Perfectly described Yord vs Jecki dynamic here. Kudos to the writers getting that so right.
So a tangentially related thought, if you replaced the words I and Jecki with the Jedi Knight and the Padawan when your was stating his plan to question Kimeir do you think it would sound not only like Yord's plan was very by the book but quite literally out of a textbook or SOP manual?
Damn after seeing your thumbnail about this video you must really need some money...@@GenerationTech
Same here.

The commentary you give is the type of stuff i like to hear, instead of the usual angry content that is everywhere nowadays
12:27 I love the hand gestures Jecki does here
😂 yeah and yord tries to stop her from talking before with the hands as well
@@GenerationTech bahahaha😆I didn't even see that gesture til now! Fantastic & funny detail!😂
I don't think Yord actually violated the Neimoidian's mind. It looked like he faked it until one of them got nervous and told the truth.
I thought the same thing l. They were terrified already.
Anakin move.
I also thought this
I think you're right.
The Acolyte has done a good job with the new jedi characters they created. Yord and Jecki died too soon.
Alan continues to be my go to content for some casual but penetrating takes on Star Wars. Thanks pal!
we start with star wars and we tend to drift ;)
Yord was one of the best things about this show. The actor was really good. No problem with him mind reading that guy, Yord knew he was lying.
Always look forward to your videos, Allen. I may not always agree with you, but I love hearing your opinions and takes. They’re fair and honest, and well thought out. That’s rare in the Star Wars discourse. (And we have similar senses of humor. Great Futurerama references, lol)
i mean yes, but because the jedi self regulate that's not a great look
In my personal opinion Yord is an extremely weak character played by an actor who doesn’t even know the lore and thinks the Death Star was destroyed by anakin skywalker a joke just like this show
@@drewolson3873Dude makes one mistake in a interview and he's suddenly terrible.
Imo Yord is just a very young Obi-Wan, especially in the books
Yord's "Osha run!" line really stuck out to me. He was about to be killed and when his attacker is distracted instead of trying to slink away he's fully ready to bring attention back to himself if it means Osha can get away.
Your description of Yord's personality is hitting home with me so much it's shocking.
I haven't watched the show yet, but u feel like i really should now.
Dude was the perfect jedi , which is why they kept getting purged so easily .
These memorial videos are great! Really deepening my appreciation for the show.
u SEE, you are touching on the special moments of SW - the story within the stories.
Yord had just grown on me, it happened as he was protecting the twins 😢.
Great video!
im going to be honest. he might be always so serious and thats rough but i would have really liked to see him see what the jedi really are like and stay in the order to try and make it better from within ... an older wiser man
Watching this video makes me feel even sadder about his death because I relate to him a lot now. I go to culinary school and it's been very hard for me, but I feel like my struggle has never shook my passion and love for cooking. Additionally, a few of my peers have said I'm too by the books, which you described Yord as too.
As long as you never give up you can never fail :) good luck
Liking the video sight unseen then watching it. I just enjoy your optimism.
This is yet another phenomenal character analysis. Thank you for these in depth and nuanced looks into my two favorite characters from this show.
if they'd followed Yorg's plan to question the shopkeeper, they wouldn't all be dead now
Dude, thank you so much for covering these characters in depth with your knowledge and added ideas.
This is so good. I don’t usually see YT content that makes me appreciate something in a different way. Well done.
Thanks for putting it into words :)
And just when you started to really like him, episode 5 comes along.
GoT is not the only show, that can hurt you!"
More episodes building on characters like Yord, like you did, would have messed me up in the latest scenes^^
What an awesome love story to Yord... R.I.P. in the Force
i love how u include personal stories into your video as it relates to the topic even if it doesn’t we appreciate it
Wonderful analysis. I dismissed Yord right away, but you helped me see how much I missed. Well done.
Yord’s idea to handle qimir was right: they would’ve known what he was sooner
But now I feel a loss for the character that makes me sorry that the Star Wars Universe won't get to see him grow and become something more than a cool name for a fan club.
you made me appreciate Yord a lot more. thank you!
Way to go and make me have even more feelings and sadness now for the guy….Deserving tribute to someone we may have just written off without getting to know.
I can't believe we got David Bowie references two days in a row, then got futurama reference too! Yet another reason to love your channel
Jecki and Yord's deaths hit me kind of hard. Well done, Acolyte, well done.
Thanks for your analysis of Yord Fandar. He may be a stickler for the rules but he has a heart of gold.
Qimir, " For what ? "
Jord, " Running a very questionable Head Shop."
Qimir, " What I have is perfectly legal in this sector of space. I can sell some to you for a really good price."
Jord, " You been seen in 16 different star sectors in the past five months."
Qimir, " Dude you need to get out more, those were rock music concerts, I have tickets Bro."
Yord was my favorite character. I related to him a lot. He wanted to belong and was very much in earnest. He did due diligence and follow-up.
He was effectivelt the paladin character from Dungeons and Dragons Xenk Yendar. 🏆
thanks!
great character analysis, RIP yord.
Alan, thank you for your insights here, I see more of Yord now.
one of my favorite moments in the acolyte so far is when yord uses the cortosis helmet against qimir
having just faced the use of the helmet in the heat of battle he was able to take in that detail and go for the helmet when he returned to the fight.
it didnt work out for him in the end but that was quick thinking and could have made all the difference in taking the sith down if things had lighted up better

@jcr1842
Sadly, Star Wars fans have always been like this.
I'm sooooo glad these showrunners have the stones to grease characters. What we've been needing
If Jiord was around the beginning of the Clone Wars, I don’t think he would’ve survived during the Battle of Geonisis
he might've made it to the circle at the end, a lot of it was luck and how proficient they were in form iii. He actually seems like someone who would've drilled the hell out of all the forms
I would disagree because he displayed great adaptability to the sith situation, being able to survey the sith's abilities and counter or utilise them, like when he used the helm to short out the lightsaber
@@AlexanderYoung-bh1nu aye for a few seconds but he would so not survive against General Grievous
With some luck I think he would have. He's a competent swordsman. He actually holds his own against Qimir unlike Jedi who were older and more experienced than him. He's got enough adaptability to realize what the helmet does and deploys it in a good way.
I concur.
Yord is one of the most sincere characters in the Acolyte, similar to how sincere Mando is. They both truly believe and live their values, and are willing to sacrifice themselves for those they protect, if need be. Yord is definitely underated and his death hits hard.
Generation Tech 5-ever!!!!💛🧡
That's a new way to say it 😂
The Jedi code is ridiculous. I do like Jiord though. Kinda pissed off that he was killed along with Jecki
Love how everyone skips over the "make napalm in the woods"😂😂😂😂
This is why Yord is one of the best characters.
That’s a great take… I only took jiord as a “by the book” guy only
So appreciate your SW coverage, for as many reasons as there are to bash on this show, we still all need some positivity once in a while.
Your analysis of the character are far more interesting than the characters themselves.
I really like Your take on Yord. It made the show better for me.
He gets points for using the helmet as a shield. Alan, you get points for the Futurama and Lego references...👍
Hi. I just wanted to say thank you for all your thoughtfulness and hard work. For trying to keep the conversation open-minded and rational, and still giving Star Wars a chance when it has let many people down before. Just want you to know I appreciate this, and I look forward to your videos and analysis everyday.
Incredible! I did not see the depths of Jord, but I’m so grateful that you unpacked him for me
RIP Yord and Jecki, we hardly knew you.
Yord, we hardly knew ye!
Allen, your videos add so much depth the the characters and Star Wars universe!! Thank you!
Thank you for putting some respect on Yord's name, he was one of my favorite characters because he acted so much like a jedi would have and should have.
Great insight and empathy on this character.
I loved the fact that you stopped and fully pronounced crayons after saying crans. Reminded me of myself every time I try to say crayons 😂
